1 of the 2 spanish league with 22 teams
Atlético winning League and the Spanish Cup
Real Madrid not even qualifiying to the UEFA cup
Tenerife next year reaching UEFA semi finals
Compostela top 10 (team refounded and now fighting in the 3rd lvl)
Promotion to avoid the relegations
Also Mérida and Salamanca in the first division, teams also refounded like compostela.

>1996 is literally 20 years ago

Then many of those teams got money and screwed it up.

But in case this is a >hating modern football thread, just look for the next season.

Also, Leo Biagini.

>20 years ago the Swiss league still had a playoff round
>the top 8 in this table played each other twice again, and the winner of that was the champion
>4 of these teams went bankrupt, 1 is back in the first division, one is coming back up to the first division next year, one is in the second division, and the last is in the third division

this is really a feels thread, man I'm fucking old

>protti and signori top scorers

>1996 is literally 20 years ago
what have I done with my life

>tfw no Serie A with 18 clubs and promotion and relegation of 4 clubs each season

>PC Futbol 5.0

>Tenerife

No Red Bull.

>vorwarts steyr

Nah, they became bankrupt during the season and most matches were an automatic 0:3.

Bayernwi- ...didn't win lol

>5 Hamburger
Yum

Oh.

I thought it was another Tasmania Berlin.

Too bad KFC got relegated

This was the famous 'I would love it' season where Newcastle threw away a 10 point lead.

Man United were the better team overall but Newcastle were much more fun to watch. Liverpool (Fowler, Collymore, McManaman) and Arsenal (Wright, Bergkamp, Platt, Seaman and the famous back four) should have both competed more though. I'd sat it was the first real incarnation of a 'big 4'.

Other things
>City collapse under squeaky Alan Ball despite signing Kinkladze who was awesome. At the time the biggest club to go down since the Prem started
>Boro who just came up randomly signed Juninho for big money. I think the first brazilian in the premier and unlike anyone else
>Cantona came back from his kung fu ban
>West Ham started bringing their amazing youth through
>Yeboah blooters
>match fixing scandal with Hans Segers, Fash etc
>Shearer starting to look really out of place at Blackburn
>Happy Harry starts playing Champ manager, signs Dumitrescu and the the Marco Boogers fiasco at West Ham

>União de Leiria
>Salgueiros
>Leça
>Felgueiras
>Campomaiorense
>Literally who Tirense

Didn't know Porto and Benfica played in the 3rd division in 96.

>Cup Winners' Cup and 2. Bundesliga
based as fuck

>tfw when that's literally older than the majority of this sites users

>Widzew = 5th division
>Legia = Ekstraklasa, champions
>Hutnik = 5th division, under new name
>ŁKS = 4th division
>Amica = only youth training now
>Stomil = 3rd division
>Lech = Ekstraklasa, 6th place
>Raków = 3rd division
>Sokół = 3rd division, under new name
>Zagłębie = Ekstraklasa, 4th place
>Katowice = 2nd division
>Górnik = Ekstraklasa, 16th and relegated
>Bełchatów = 2nd division
>Śląsk = Ekstraklasa, 13th place
>Pogoń = Ekstraklasa, 3rd place
>Olimpia/Lechia = Ekstraklasa, 7th place (as Lechia)
>Stal = 3rd division
>Siarka = 3rd division

Holy shit, I knew it will be bad but not THAT bad.

Also Southampton and Coventry surviving on goal difference. They were the original forever 17th.
