You have exactly a quarter of a minute (15 seconds) to give me a single (that is 1) reason that MCR isn't emo

Because you haven't listened to actual emo and you don't know what you're talking about

Because they're already trash

They have a will to live and that will is making shitty music

because they are buttrock

Well, considering that emo is merely hardcore punk with post punk influences and I see one guy wearing a Joy Division shirt and another guy wearing a Danzig shirt, I'd say you're fighting an uphill and surely, ultimately fruitless battle.

i can't. genres are legitimized by nothing else but mutual intelligibility, for most people they would be the very first band to come to mind, so it doesn't make sense not to label them as such. making up a coherent definition of the term should come second

their first album was emo

You say emo like it's a bad thing. It's not and I don't disagree that they have emo elements.

>everyone says Mozart is jazz
>therefore Mozart is jazz

This is what mu-tards actually beleaf

Because ur fat

The concept of emo is so fucked. The misuse of term by the mainstream has rid it of any meaning it once had. Who really decides genre? People like us or the mainstream culture?

yes, this is how language works.

>People like us or the mainstream culture?
can u not
the meaning of words changes over time, big reveal. it's completely possible for the term to mean two things, btw

...

Jawbreaker is an emo band

MCR is shit

jawbreaker is shit too though

...

>suburban teenagers makes sad guitar songs about how they hate their ex-girlfriend and want to die
>"this is like, so different from American Football and Cap'n'Jazz. Like, not even comparable."

...

apparently this is emo so i have no argument.

I like them
shoot me

When people say emo I think of this album first

Emo doesn't mean wearing eyeliner, it /usually/ is just heartfelt or confessional

They're from NJ.

From what i'm hearing, their guitarist is basically a Brain May clone.

It really sounds like they got into punk through Blink 182 and learned songwriting from Pinkerton.

If this is emo, AFI is a CIS-Suede

>AFI
>Cis

>track one: organ-heavy ballad
>track two: jangly, post-punk
>track three: post-hardcore

God, I love this album.

so is MCR though.

Remember these guys? How about Fall out Boy? What about Panic! At The Disco?

good singer.

JEW was way better tho.

mcr and all those pop punk faggots can eat my shit

SWING SWING SWING FROM THE TANGLES OOOFF MY HEART

I'm not aware of JEW, I'll give it a try though.

Panic At The Disco released a new album recently too. This stuff used to rock so hard.

The musical style doesn't match. MCR is pop punk because the instrumentation is much less complex. Not to say JEW are comparable to King Crimson, but Clarity is definitely a carefully arranged album.

Give Clarity a go, it's a slow burner but it's worth it.

get
and Bleed American.

the album right after Clarity (which has plenty of pop punk) is straight-up pop punk and arguably as good.

Sounds really good... I need to get what.cd

rutracker, soulseek, even mutracker

there's a private tracker that people were talking about a while back, but I forgot the name. dunno what the fuss was about.

I hear a lot about Peirce the Vail too

This is REAL emo.

yeah Collide With the Sky isn't bad

now THAT'S what i call emo vol 666

holy shit his voice ahaha

Bleed American is solid, but has a few clunkers in my opinion (Hear You Me, If You Don't, Don't).

To me Static Prevails, the self titled comp., and Clarity is the trilogy of JEW albums. Pretty much their output from 1995-2000
