First for Reason is the best DAW.

that's a funny way to spell Live

Second for feedback please.
clyp.it/3xg2ew55

Pic related.

tfw noisia uses cubase

>basing your decision on your DAW on whether other people use it or not instead of trying them all and seeing which is the best yourself
Sure is follower of the herd in here.

Best place to torrent vsts plugins etc..?

Rarbg doesn't have shit and kat.cr doesn't even work.

Piratebay is back in business. Just google pirate proxy and you'll get a bouncer site.

rutracker my nigga

>tfw noisia is a huge inspiration
welp time to switch to cubase I guess :(

if you can find an invite there's a private music production tracker called audionews you could try to get into. It's got a very broad catalogue.

are these threads exclusively for electronic music or hip hop beats?

no
it's the most common, yeah. but some people here do some cool other things

I produce/record/mix rock music in a rather unorthodox way. wanted to know if i was allowed in here

>le I use Reason because Ableton is too normie meme

have fun with your limited VST's and having to fuck with drivers and settings instead of having a full optimized daw lol

sure, post some stuff

clyp.it/eamrurwc
I honestly can't tell if this is terrible or not.
any thoughts? Am I justice yet?

alright, i go into the BC threads from time to time. But here its less about the musical content. I'd like to hear some opinions on the recording quality/mix.

elemantraband.bandcamp.com/

Nope, all styles

/prod/ is about honing your craft, regardless of genre.

I like some of justices sound design, but I really don't like the synth that comes after the bass on your track. Sounds similar to a weird electronic sandpaper. Maybe you could change it to be more pleasing or try something else for that part, if you did I'd like this clyp a lot more. Other than that the bass sound after the strings was really cool.

>can't figure out how to use logic

life can be sad

See, that's the thing. We don't do names or self-promotion in general, or criticize stuff that's been already released. Clyp.it and other anonymous hosts are the law here.

i occasionally use cubase to mess around with vocaloid. makes me want to kill myself. it also doesn't properly rewire with ableton, so i have to sync them with midi clock alone.

>implying

ahh, see i've never came into one of these threads. I just wanted some thought on how it sounds to people. I worked hard on that aspect of the music/album

>ahh, see i've never came into one of these threads. I just wanted some thought on how it sounds to people.
You want the bandcamp thread really then. This is more for WIP.

dang alright then. Sorry bout that

Hey /prod/, collab time.
Here's an 8 bar loop. Add something to it, then that sample gets passed on for someone to add more stuff.
clyp.it/gbbr5i1y

I made this track while thinking creatively

clyp.it/qoqsczqp

I have some questions too.

When I put sounds in FPC in FL Studio they don't sound exactly the same from when they are in the sampler no matter what I do. Is there a way to fix that?

Also are any useful features in fl studio 12.3 compared to 10?

I just downloaded it and after a short while I noticed
>you can't put sharp edges on piano notes any more
(my music doesn't sound edgy enough because of that)
>tonal time stretching is no more
>all the cool features from sawer (like the arpeggiator) were replaced with piano tiles
>also the mixer is all fucked up

if i wouldnt be retarded and figure out how to download it then id be up for that

>clyp.it/qoqsczqp
I imagine this would be what a harsh noise musician would sound like if you took away their distortion pedal.

As for all your questions, if the new version of the software sucks, use the old version. I'm still using some software from 2002.

What's different about them?

>if i wouldnt be retarded and figure out how to download it then id be up for that
I'm not sure clyp is the best for that, gimme a sec I'll upload it somewhere else.

I've never fucked with lofi or glitch before so I worked on 3 different tracks today. Be savage about it please. Looking for tips and can take the criticism

www file dropper com/beat4prod

Also would like to note that this has a hip hop undertone to it.

cool, thanks for answer and feedback

whoops no all spaces, between file and dropper just delete the space.

Tempo and key?

tempo 130. No key yet, just percussion.

you want just the thing added or the file separate so you can mix it all too?

For now, just the thing. Don't fuck up that mix ;)
Save project files though in case this turns out to be a really bad idea.

NOVICE QUESTION

So I've recorded a melody but it doesn't quite end on the bar. Instead of ending on 5 it ends around 4.4

so when it loops around the second time the drums are out of whack. How do I fix this /prod/

btw posting to clyp.it is fine for me, I can download shit from there with ant video downloader.

I'm intriqued. Post a clyp of this.

it sounds like you got the tempo wrong, if not make the drums loop on 4.4 bars too or lay them down manually to match the melody

clyp.it/tp5qovg5

heres a sub sample I can change the key depending on what the melody is in

dropbox.com/s/asre57gmbx9sxvg/untitled.wav?dl=0
just something simple i guess

it's kinda terrible

I just assigned the drums to my pads and playing the beat myself. Sounds a bit better but it's still really bad. Hmmm

Does prod know where I can get some good prog house samples? I am willing to pay for them

Ah the idea was you mix the drums and your sample together and reupload that sample.

do you mean add something over it or can I make it longer? waiting for the other guy to post so I can ruin it.

>do you mean add something over it or can I make it longer?
Either or both. There's another guy? Same goes for him too.

If we got conflicting branches of sample I'll just mix them together somehow lol.

I think we should post all parts separate and all do individual mixes. It would be cool to see people ability to mix and we could even share tips on how we do what we do.

this sounds like mario walking trough the dungeon theme song only worst

Alright, I'll get the beat, synth and bass samples and try mixing them now.

I already eqed my sub btw.

clyp.it/5trhefks
fucked around with the gross beat on anons contribution.

You did better than I got so far.
clyp.it/2jstnrc4

I'm just tthinking about chopping up the bassline and moving the pitch of a few of the notes...I like the rhythm of it though

Its in the key of e minor right now. I can swap it out for a different key if you want. Just let me know what.

nice dubs btw.

Post me a clyp of the drums on their own, yours sound way better.
>Its in the key of e minor right now.
Nope, you're playing in C major.

that is not her husband...

What a slag.

The note at the end is an F#. I know it starts on a C note but I don't know if I would its in C major. I don't really know to much about music theory though.

>Nope, you're playing in C major.
I'll add to this, C major with one accidental (sharpened 4th). Just before someone out nerds me.

Too fucking late!
The note at the start of the bar is a C and it really "feels" like it's in C.

where do you guys get your drum sounds?

that's because it's C-lydian

I have been out-nerded. I knew this would happen.

I changed the bassline a bit, what do people think? It's just in C minor now.
clyp.it/za5focdc

Would you mind Sharing that sub or just some of your samples in general? I really like the sound design. I would really appreciate it

How do I make better chord progressions for edm? I can't seem to get anything melodic.

clyp.it/513fyi2t

Wow I am awful at this. Someone take an earlier branch and run with that.

This is starting to come together

I use FL studio.
My subs are from the 2013 808 Mafia pack.
I cut out frequencies lower than 30 and higher than 230.
Take the stock FL Fast Dist and set it to overdrive.
You're gonna want to turn that effect down to about 25% on the mix though.
I'm still pretty new to the whole production world.

Do you know any theory? Ever learned any cover versions to see what kinda chords they use?

I added a second part to an earlier version. Go wild on it.

clyp.it/a5hhtjof

Any quick and dirty guides to eqing?

Ableton looks cool but I'm not a prematurely balding white nu-male with glasses and a flannel shirt

Awesome. I can go with this.

dropbox.com/s/96mffw7m6swnxky/untitled3.wav?dl=0
fine hows this

>clyp.it/za5focdc
This sounds a little more fluid. Still in c minor though

hey i was looking around the archive and i noticed someone in here uploaded a link the the official splice lex luger drum kit and i would appreciate a re up if they're still in here

a step in a good direction

ableton live probably has the most nu-male users

So what is the difference between C lydian mode and the key of e minor? Is it just that C is the root note?

What does the temp drop to? 94?

the notes are the same, it's the harmonic context and the central notes that define the mode

I'm outside a studio waiting for the audio engineer to come in. I talked to the other engineer and he said he was coming in 2 hours I tried calling him but no answer. I think he's trying to avoid me

if the engineers are unreliable you better look for a new studio asap

it's 4 bars at 140 with 6 beats per bar (or 6 bars with 4 beats per bar)

i wouldnt waste my time with faggots like that

whats the chord progression on this?

Nah you see I'm the intern I think I'm going to wait here got to be dedicated

still the same as my previous one (CA/CG#) if that makes sense

added to this.
Someone should mix in with it.
clyp.it/hqhjtjwl

outgoing tempo is 91. Key is E minor.

clyp.it/pjxrfoqo
a little piano melody i whipped up.

Is it even possible for me to do gradual tempo changes in FL?

Yes, through automation.

Fuck knows dude, I'm using reason. And I'm using an old version from before they added audio tracks so I'm having to chop everything up in audacity and feed it into redrum as though I'm working with a hardware sample. Sure feels 1992 in here.
