It's not a matter of being "worthy" or "good enough" to get in but admittedly it looks like that from an outside observer - if someone is turned away from the door it is not because they are in some way inferior, rather it is because it is felt that they might simply not fit in, and that their discomfort may affect others already inside.
The decision made at the door is a snap one, but based upon years of experience so they get it right far more often than they get it wrong - at busy periods however the decisions made will err on the side of caution every time but the mistake someone might make if they get turned away at those times is to feel like they were judged to be not worthy and that's just not true, it's a very busy club and they chose the wrong time to visit when the door staff have no time to speak with them.
Go early in the morning around 6am and that all changes - if the club is not still full and if you can keep your head lifted up and not avoiding eye contact you'll have no problems.
Clubs in their original form always welcome new members and Berghain is no different - it just has to be looked at from the club's point of view, which is to preserve the existing membership's experience. No big secret or privileged thing - it's just their club that's all.

The club is open all weekend for some parties - 6am on a Sunday is still peak time inside but less busy at the door.
At that time in summer it's daylight so door staff can see you walk up - if you're relaxed and looking forward to coming in, not stumbling drunk and looking like you're not in the mood for socializing with strangers (no eye contact) then you're welcomed.
