Do you guys like OM? I prefer them over Sleep.
I love the oriental/spiritual feeling and the kind of 'mantra'-esque but heavy sounds.
For me it's kind of similar to Meshuggah. Do you know any similar bands?

I'm more of a sleep fan, but they both have their perks. Pilgrimage is pretty damn good

I also love Sleep but I feel OM has everything Sleep has but with even more inside it (I hope what I said makes sense in english). These two bands plus Electric Wizard are for me the three pilars of stoner music

OM is like a rock band approaching world music so... some Secret Cheifs 3 can be pretty normal sometimes.

OM is pretty connected with sleep, considering they both have the same vocalist/bass guitarist. Either way, it's kinda hard to compare the two.

I've always seen Om as pretty similar to Dopesmoker. Conference of the Birds is GOAT

I've always liked them over sleep too. It's really hard to find their influences (I moved on from trying to find similar bands long ago) because their influences are various traditional oriental styles all mashed together, so it's like finding any other noteworthy traditional foreign artist: ya either get a white dude doing a poor imitation of the style or a sea of modern artists in whatever country a specific style originates from who are all equally significant because they're all doing the exact same thing to the point where there are no defining characteristics of any particular artist.

I too enjoy Om a lot more than Sleep. Probably the only thing that I've found that is as similar to Om as it is good is Al's solo stuff. There used to be a bunch more on youtube but I guess he's cracked down on it somewhat.

Adviatic Songs is one of my most favourite albums of all time, I really hope they will continue with this direction, as I like the other albums, but this one is magnificent.

Playing some of their songs is pretty fun too when you figure it out its literally the same notes either on fuzzed out or clean. I heard theyre not as good live but they never come to my city anyway.

I like sleep more but OM aint too far behind

Dead Can Damce has very repetitive world music influences that should he right up your alley. They are definitely not metal though.

You can like OM more than sleep buf you can't like OM more than dopesmoker.
