definitely a more polished sound for her but I overall liked it, thought it was a good addition to her discography.
I thought it was a better step than Matangi, the last four or so songs were probably my favorite

It picks up so good towards the end for me. I like the album enough, definitely a grower. Feel like critics will trash it

She'll be back. MIA's like a perma-edgy teenager. If she says it's her last album, that just means she'll be back in a couple years and it'll be her craziest album yet.

Let's remember that AIM started as a concept album where she was going to travel the world and film a music video for every track in a different country, which would later be compiled into a theatrical documentary feature film. And now it's her final album ever?

She's just crafting a different narrative because she has too much pride to admit she bit off more than she could chew with the "Matahdatah" concept.

I don't think MIA has her shit together enough to say she's going to quit music and actually follow through with it.

She's said she's retiring after every album save for Kala. Literally. So I don't think she'll retire.

But I have talked to her online and she said she's taking time out to get back to filmmaking. So it could be a few years before she gets back to music, but she will come back eventually. Even recently she's been more non committal about it being her final album ("if it's my last..." etc).

Anyway I really love this album even it's not without its flaws. It's like an inverse MAYA, whereas that was paranoid and brooding this is more upbeat and content, but still noisy. I'm sure Fantano and Pitchfork will pan it but the only person I care about when it comes MIA reviews is Christgau tbqh.

I don't know, I didn't like it. Found the lyrics kinda cringe worthy and her voice bothers me on some tracks. I'm on the half of it now so I guess I'm gonna give it a shot seeing that you Anons said it get's better towards the end
