Skepta / Stormzy / JME = Poser Tier shit

musical travesty power rankings

1. rap 'music'
2, white rap
2. british rap
3. rap metal
4. non-english rap

So "Grime" is just British people trying to do trap rap right?

you say Skepta I say Trim
you say Stormzy I say Giggs
you say Ksi I say Bossman Birdie
you say JME I say Frisco

Hit like if you remember real Grime
XD XD XD

You sound like you cry into your prog rock records of a night upset that everyone else are mindless sheep

Yeah if you don't understand either genre or how time works

not really. Grime is the 2000's sound of disenfranchised british youths how have been caught in the poverty trap and cant escape so turn to crime/drugs to make ends meet. Or so was the original reason for grime, now its just middle class 'lads' (read: fuckboi's) thinking they've lead a hard life because there parents wont buy thre the new iphone... yay cultural appropriation...!

That's "Road Rap"

>implying Stormzy is grime

That's UK rap my middle class friend

Grime is technically dance music and is similar to sound-system or jungle culture, with an MC who's job is to 'gas' up the crowd and make them go wild, with a lot of reloads and shouting and general nignoggery

AJ Tracey is probably the hottest grime artist about right now. Dave is brillinant too but he's more of a rapper than grime.

Saw AJ live and he was really good

>tfw UK Hip Hop and Grime are lyrically better than US Hip Hop right now

No yank rapper can match Akala, Lowkey, Mic Righteous, Dirty Dike, Ocean Wisdom, Safone or Oscar #Worldpeace

Don't understand a word you just posted. Reckon I'm getting old ;_;

Skinnyman?

Does americans even have anything close to wretch 32s fire in the booth

Grime used to be played on the radio as instrumentals and the MC would spit bars over it, then they began to record onto tracks and the live element almost died out.

>would spit bars over it
Mars bars?

sounds like the story of how Dub music came to be, only in reverse.

He isn't really doing anything anymore though but yeah Council Estate of Mind is a classic

nah milky bars innit mate

So it's just grunting over The xx's music?

Most of the elements of Grime came from Sound System and reggae culture, there's even crossover tracks like Commander B's Pum Pum Riddim which you can hear dancehall influence in. Also the patois in the lyrics and the use of riddims go back to the reggae roots.

soundcloud.com/conradmundy
literally better than any current rapper from US AND HE'S A FUCKING SOUNDCLOUD RAPPER

oh yea i knew that, most uk urban/electronic genres are influenced by dub somehow.

The english have always been good at making pretty bad music fun that's fun to listen to.
youtube.com/watch?v=bPHcm0qalAQ

Grime rappers have no talent and get some pushover white guy to not only produce all their stuff but write a lot of the lyrics too

>Grime came from Sound System and reggae culture

except for no musicians lol

I think the tackiness of UK Garage is why it's got such an appeal

Yeah I hate it when they do that...

Does the MC toasting not count as a musician?

dre was the pushover white guy

Amazing how many rappers from the UK just shit all over american rappers.

youtu.be/xdmDS-RBEak

Akalas still at the top after all these years.

Absolutely correct.
youtube.com/watch?v=UjBwe6IL10o

Grime came out of UK Garage at the same time as Dubstep and were stylistically very similar at the time

akala is shit

Dre was definitely the top in the Em/Dre dynamic. Dre/Apple and Dre/Iovine are a different story though. If you catch my drift

no

>Americans think grime is a subgenre of hip-hop

10 years and still better than any other MC around. Kendrick has nothing on Akala

What about Bound for the Reload?

Panda doesnt have shit on 3 Wheels Up
youtu.be/79ZP946eNVQ

Suck your mum skank

>Americans thinking

soundcloud.com/sirpixalot-productions/dylan-beale-tri-fusion-x-j-wing-sirpixalot-dubplate-acapella

Actually nah I take that back, it's heavy

I like it but I don't really know shit about grime tbth

youtube.com/watch?v=GkDFI66vO88
This is the best example of Grime I know if you're new I guess

I've always liked UK electronic music but never went too deep
Mala is probably the best DJ set I've ever witnessed in my life

t. Hugo, 16

No OP, that would be Atlanta trap

I have his repress of Changes somewhere in my room which I bought when I didn't know what I was doing and it blew my mind. I only knew DMZ barely.

>stormzy
>grime
lol

>skepta
Skepta was with the scene from the beginning and he used to be sick
youtube.com/watch?v=8QiVPz2PSpA

>JME
same as his cousin, he used to be sick
now he's basically a joke

not even close to rocks 2bh

yea p much

Mala is p good, but he plays pretty same-y sets.

Not that I mind, because it's always half fire and half history lesson.

yeah, he played actual dub and it worked perfectly too

I rate Skepta, that unofficial Joseph Junior Adenuga mixtape is one of my favorites especially his sends towards SLK. Definitely a recommend if you can get past the 128kbps ghetto quality.
JME is Skepta's little brother still, but JME has some solid tracks, especially his production but his work's overlooked definitely.
It's sad honestly that they're poser tier stuff, especially since they're both key players in Grime.

JME is Skepta's brother, not cousin. Fucking hell if any retard actually listens to this dickhead you must know absolutely fucking nothing.

whatever

his avalanche music was a p good comp.
Sure it was nowhere near Wiley's but that's to be expected.

>and he used to be sick
>sick

mate, just end yourself.

I got both their Avalanche comps, I think I have Crazee Bandit's too

>all these white nerds from surrey using british black slang on the Sup Forums forums
