Anyone in the Seattle area should come out for Tokyoidaho's album release show tonight at Barboza
it's an early show
Not sure if its appropriate tovask in here but fuck it.
Anyone know of a good reverb vst that can emulate mbv type reverb?
There was a shoegaze thread like just a few hours ago

why are these threads called /shugazi/ what do they have to do with fugazi
It's from a thread where a dude admitted he had been pronouncing "shoegaze" like fugazi
I was there, shoegaze threads got really popular for a month or two after that. Also, seeking more early Mercury Rev style noise pop, anyone got anything? Not the Flaming Lips
Why is most shoegaze dull and static. Im not kidding, there is so much room for really vibrant pretty colors and shimmering drones, truly disorienting and weightless rhythms that don't just feel like heavy strums to a slow 4/4. I feel like i love the idea of 'wall of sound' and heavy pop interpretations, but never really hear what this genre could be
examples?
I can think of a lot of dynamic and vibrant shoegaze
what exactly are you looking for out of it?
shitverb is killing music
I really loved listening the fuck out of Loveless back in the 7th grade, so it's kinda weird when some people talk about how inaccessible it is. Did you "get" Loveless the first time around?
it's easy man
why frustrate yourself making a real good album when you could have fun making a shit one?
weird how long ago that was
ya
but the more i listen to it the more i love it. it also depends on the mood but generally it's very enjoyable everytime. of course it was my first entry into shoegaze/dream pop and i've been in love with the genre since
anything similar to the song City Girl? I've already listened to Loveless, Whirr albums, looking for similar stuff.
Thanks

I never got that either.
People always talk about how they weren't able to hear the melodies and that it all sounded the same but I didn't have a problem with hearing that at all.
I think what's really happening is that when people aren't blown away by it and come away with a 10/10 experience after a few listens, it means it's because it's inaccessible when really they're just not blown away by it.
And of course a lot of it has to do with what they might expect out of rock music or how they understand rock music.
thanks for this
what is stratosphere?
dreamcore? slowcore? shoegaze?
Personally one of my fav albums of all time, but I rarely see talk of it
lo-fi slowcore
