When did you realize you were mispronouncing Mussorgsky, /classical?
I always pronounced it correctly.
Very good. Kenneth Slowik might just be a new favorite for me.
It's a shame he hasn't recorded much.
TIL it's actually pronouncd Ta-RU-skin instead of TA-ru-skin?
What do you mean til? It's always pronounced that way.
Anyone else concerned that once the older generations die, any kind of interest in classical music is just going to dry up? They seem to be the only people who still care about it, as far as I've seen.
Bump.
Nah, plenty of young people are interested, its a never-ending cycle, hence why classical has been going strong for 400+ years.
Go to some youth orchestra concerts or something, that will illustrate my point. most cities have a youth orchestra or 2.
but the general interest in Classical music is higher than ever among young people.
it's only going to get more popular.
What are some good themes from movie soundtracks?

none of that shit LOL
Why is Schumann so much better than Chopin?
What a fucking awful post you leech
I don't like their feet
the master
youtube.com
No, that is a completely unfounded misperception of yours.
That's reassuring.
Good stuff.
What makes a good foot? Asking for a friend.
Toes that aren't too big or too long and thin or have a weird shape, soles with pleasant curves, the feet overall not being too big or too long
Nice
whats a good recording of François Couperin: Pièces de Clavecin that IS NOT piano or other stupid shit that didn't exist when he wrote it
scott ross
If Schumann was so great he wouldn't have tried to kill himself.
>11 hours of music
how do you guys find the time, just curious?
I feel like by the time I've got to the third or fourth CD, I've forgotten if I even liked the first one.
good recommendation though
Well you don't have to listen to all of them at once. You can break them up with other music.
true, muh autism always wants me listen to full recordings in one sitting for "completeness"
guess its not practical with classical music
>muh autism always wants me listen to full recordings in one sitting for "completeness"
You can probably do it with Wagner, the entire Ring will take you 15 hours, which is doable in a day. But with larger collections like Bach's Chorale Cantata Cycle (> 30 hours) or Lassus's complete motets (> 60 hours?) , such an approach is neither possible nor desirable.
Just realize that all of that music is the composer's life's work created over the course of decades. It's no big deal for you to take just a few months to listen to it.
The Ring is supposed to take four days to watch (or listen to), though.
But there's nothing stopping you from marathoning it in a day, provided you have enough stomach for 15 straight hours of Wagner.
Well, I watched all 121 40-minute episodes of the TV show Lost in just a week, so I may be able to manage that.
Get a copy of the German libretto, English translation (if you're a filthy EOP) and the score, and get comfy I suppose. It's a formative experience, at least that's what a friend who went through the marathon told me.
So should I go with Karajan, Solti, Furtwangler, Keilberth, Krauss, or...?
watch it. boulez (fast and more "modern" sets) or levine (slow and more traditional sets)
pretty sure boulez is on youtube with subtitles and everything.
Give me a good marimba work pls
