I said that many more generations had been naturally selected for in rural environments. "Cultural factors" don't come into that equation.

This is basic biology, how can you not understand evolution?

If you want it summed up, "natural selection" is all about the traits that give an organism ability to make offspring that are capable of living enough to make more offspring being passed on in greater proportion than neutral or deleterious traits, the latter of which are weeded out. Over the generations the species changes as the prevalence of traits changes to fit the environmental conditions present between one conception and the next.

So "city living" would obviously select for those who can live in the cities and reproduce. Thus people who can't deal physiologically or psychologically with high concentrations of people, or who are not "wired" to reproduce in those conditions, will be weeded out.

There were experiments done on mice in conditions similar to those brought about by modern industrial civilisation, John Calhoun's "Mouse Utopia". Obviously mice reproduce faster than humans and are otherwise different, but there was definitely a difference between their life in the cage and without, and they did not catch up with their environment, something that humans are also subject to.

I've elaborated on this even though this just consists of explaining the basics of evolution for you, and how populations will change when introduced into a radically new environment, one which they are not by dint of millennia of accumulated selection selected for life in that environment!

Like I said what were these "selections"? If you can't define them I'll just dismiss them since humans have lived in urban environments for thousands of years and the reason they didn't have cities is because they didn't have enough people, enough surplus food and an inadequate centralized government system, all cultural factors.

What selections could there possibly be that are so radically different because you haven't told me any and I can't see any that are. Literally living in a city just requires moderately adequate socialization which we've always had since we were tribes of savanah apes.

An example would be the development of lactose tolerance, something that arose as a result of the domestication of animals. To say that pre-agriculture humans were "built for" agrictulure is to deny the evolution that occured as a result of the change of environment that agriculture produced, get it?

You are defining a change in the material circumstances in which people live as a cultural thing, when it is clearly an environmental thing, since an environment with more food is an objectively different one from one that has more food, along with the other things you mentioned. Calling that a "cultural change" is just plain wrong.

An observation which would support my statement that humans aren't built for life in cities.

"Cultural factors" explain changes in social behaviour, certainly, but leaving aside the fact that changes in culture represent in themselves and are generally a response to environmental changes, to deny that those who fail to assimilate to new cultural norms and behaviours are disadvantaged reproductively/survivally should be obvious to you as an incorrect belief, given where this discussion is taking place, after all.
