/daily/ - X-Files Edition

It's a day.

Listen to your library, show off your backlog, babble about new music, do your best not to shitpost (haha), and just let the good times flow.

>tfw you ask sshx on a date through Sup Forums

I don't get it

its ya boy max B(ecuz)

I need some good nostalgic/melancholy music to get me sad rn

wait is this fr

How and why

Who gonna get the lucky 7s btw?

...

Kpop

Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - In Summer (2016)
>ambient, noise

Not the kind of album I'd normally get into, but the majority of this is really fucking good. It's a mixture of fuzzy, lo-fi noise and dreamy, near-ambient hypnagogic pop, and the mixture is done well, even if the latter style is done better. "Love's Refrain" and "Blue Nudes (I-IV)", which exhibit the dreamier, more etheral tendencies of this album, are phenomenal tracks, super pretty with inventive sampling and some great melodies buried underneath the waves of noise. The remaining three tracks are alright, not bad but not memorable at all, just standard fuzzy noise. Taken as a whole, pretty damn good album.

3.0

this place is fucking scary tbqh

>good nostalgic/melancholy music
little kid's logic songs is the perfect album for this.

hopefully not us

my biggest fear is /daily/ getting some major get

good night friends

What's the worst that could happen? We get another shamepai?

yessssss

Yo what's the black and white 3.5- album in the middle there?

Also I'm a little surprised Moondog wasn't 3.5, but I suppose it's really close, for all intents and purposes

we get a dedicated fanfiction writer

bearxnyar slash fic
misha reveals his love to term
dogwander goes to japan to seduce keiji haino
jangle has a threesome with a pig and tim buckley's corpse

it writes itself, i might drop my trip and start doing just that.

everybody's making their own song for you confirmed

chris thompson's s/t. kinda like nick drake but more psychedelic.

and yeah, moondog was /really/ close, but it got a bit too cheesy and film scorey at times. The Viking of Sixth Avenue comp is a 3.5 to me, though.

Jesus christ how horrifying

Still want that get tho

What would the love triangles be in a /daily/ soap opera?

>little kid's logic songs
this aint half bad ty

but i feel like im the only person who enjoys the noise sections on in summer. really sets up a nice dichotomy within the album imo

I would be the love triangle, baby

I feel like you should do a cheesy blue-eyed soul album called The Love Triangle.

genuinely laughed, gold

if get daily is cool and straight not homo

fug daily is not cool, also homo

glad you like it, elliott smith also fits that vibe well, but you've probably heard him.

and they're alright, just a bit stale, to me at least.

triangle for the love of god please do this

Last digit of the post determines what I listen to according to the list.
So I went with John Tchicai's tribal ghost, good choice. It's not really as out there as it seems to be, and I don't think it's what people might associate with tribal music despite the title. But it is very mesmerizing and beautiful, especially on the second half.

As always.

Did somebody say X-FILES?

alright next in line

Sounds dope, will check that out

Also got around to listening to the The Music of Idris Ackamoor (1971-2004) which included the amazing King of Kings album. Pretty sure it's just my imagination, but subsequent listens of KoK sounded better on the album than in the comp.
ayy

Just got done listening to In Summer. Beautiful. I'm gonna have it on heavy repeat

I guess you can check out lalibela and birth speed merging, like king of kings, it's covered in the compilation but has some extra stuff. Haven't heard otherworldly yet but I plan on doing so soon.

Good morning /daily/!

Work starts today, listening to AMsP before that to release the stress

mark idk where u are but our name should be some kinda yacht rock joke

What are your thoughts on amsp?

I love it. Grew on me immensely but I'm not ready to upgrade it to a 9/10

LADS

I've been having having a swell time visiting my friends at college and going to more parties than I anticipated.

Haven't done a significant enough amount of my chart for another update, but I'm guessing updates will be less frequent as I'm getting more of a life now. I'll try to do some tomorrow, however. Sleep for now.

I listened to it over the course of two days.

Hello fish how have you been? Did you get tha college girl succ??

Great and excited, but a bit sad that I'm leaving all my friends behind soon :/ been listening to a lot of Duster and Elliott Smith-likes lately, so that doesn't really help.

I actually lost my v card to a girl there. Very good weekend.

>lost my v card to a girl there

I mean 19 is still kinda late to lose virginity. National average in US is 17 iirc.

/daily/ is pretty normie anyways.

just found out that I have access to a streaming service as a uni student, they don't tell us these things, I really wish they would, there are some great documentaries on there

...

man, why did you have to go make things real...

did u fuck her in da butt fish

which one? I've been tempted to switch to Hulu because I think I've seen near everything I want to on Netflix and it has Seinfeld and every Criterion movie.

sry my post made you sad boys :((

noe

I have never gotten the appeal of anal desu. Most people don't have bleached-pornstar assholes + poop and shit

it's called Kanopy, as far as I know the uni has to get everything liscenced... they have /most/ of the films on my unit, it's pretty nice

lmao my friend's film class doesn't even have a streaming service like that at the college I was just at. They're advised to either check it out from the library or watch it on YouTube. Most people just pirate it apparently since they have limited library copies, though apparently they monitor Internet downloads there and get on your ass if you're caught pirating. What a world.

meant for tuco

no probs
i'm sad no matter what
also check out my OC

that's pretty ebic

upvote

Wtf why am I so great wew

>misha reveals his love to term
u do realize this isn't fiction right

try Broadcast - Tender Buttons
Tal National - Kaani
Lisa Germano - Geek the Girl
etc. etc.

>Arctic Monkeys
why
you have good tasste idgi
listen to For Phillip Guston by Mortin Feldman

>criticize
worst aphex twin lp
you could use some more heavy metal, pic related

at least it's not weezer

That's a great AM album though

I forgot to rearrange them after adding the albums, this isn't my order of preference

whoo boy

John Coltrane - Blue Train
pretty straight jazz, it's not bad at all and there's some nice passages here and there but overall it's not mindblowing
I think I've been spoiled in recent months listening to some pretty unique shit, CrAzy stuff that puts hairs on ya chest; stuff with great timbre and rhythm ect. I dunno, I'm beginning to crave variety of timbre; some of the stuff I've heard (and do not mistake me, I am just beginning to 'get' jazz, it's challenging) sounds so similar to each other... help guise

Zappa and the Mothers - Over Nite Sensation
It's pretty ok, so far the least impressive of the Zappa albums I've heard, and you should know what to expect by know, I'm speaking to a choir, can dig

I've been working in a bar for about three weeks now, it's very nice nice. We can put whatever music we want on when we're working, as long as it's reasonably accessible. Last night i listened to Desertshore, Starsailor, Another Thought, Visions of the Country. Truly top meme hours.

Now i'm listening to Hole in the Heart again, really enjoying this. Any recommendations for similar emotional/easy listening noise/p.e. whatever?

Homeshake

ghhgh

I have a job application talk thingy for a software developer position this afternoon and am pretty nervous.

Listening to some Shostakovich for my tourney now, what are you nerds listening to?

that sounds p cool
there used to be a trip called planetarium guy, he let anons decide what to put on at his job (i think it was lightshows) (i think it was with strawpolls), what if you did a lil game something like that (but with dubs imo)

this means come plug

the only thing i can find named homeshake is mac demarco's guitarist's solo project

i'm listening to grim - folk music. Not exactly feeling it.

i might do that, i'm working again tonight and mondays are usually pretty slow so i can probably play what i want

nah I didn't like that one either. I like Hole in the Heart though, so I'll rec some other stuff I like:

Grunt - Seer of Decay
Merzbow - Storage
Prurient - Frozen Niagara Falls
and my opinion changes a lot on Esplendor Geometrico - El acero del partido / Héroe del trabajo, so maybe try that too

He was called plantarium guy I think, surprisingly few people noticed the typo
but yeah, I miss his threads

My favorite bar got gentrified. The delicious smell of piss, beer and spaghetti got replaced by the stench of cleaning agents. Worst of all, they raised the price of beer from 3 to 3,5€. Hold me /daily/

thanks dutchbro
listening to dog in the leash pt. 1-5 on youtube now, it starts out pretty good.
also good luck with the job interview i'm sure you will ace it

i'm very sorry to heart that my friend
i hate when the bars i like suddenly have to ban smoking because they will get closed otherwise
fucking "government"......

I kind of like dedicated smoking rooms though, because I always get good conversations there and it's the easiest place to start talking to girls
(and thanks, I'm sure I'll ace it too)

i guess this is true, but i often find that dedicated smoking rooms are so much more disgusting than bars where you can just smoke all over.

you can check out a lot of PE but I don't think you'll find much like hole in the heart, it's kind of a black sheep in the genre
i think fetor used guitars as well for their music but the result was quite different
try yellow swans' going places and maybe some skullflower i guess
>what are you nerds listening to?
Listened to skeleton tree again, could very well be in my top 5 Cave I guess
as for the Idris Ackamoor record I listened earlier, not worth it, an unremarkable free improv show with subpar recording quality, and nothing reminiscent of the spiritual/afro jazz sound from the pyramids
o i remember those threads
they seem like quite some time ago now, didn't even notice their disappearance

rolling again
1-3: pyramids
4-6: matthew halsall
7-9: bad plus
0: mingus

what skullflower would you recommend?
checking yellow swans out now

Alright, here's the "Hahaha plays music at the bar" game.
dubs get's to choose an album i will play at the bar i work at
rules:
1) must be reasonably accessible (nothing too noisy, "experimental" and so on)
2) Less than an hour
3) Must be streamable on the world wide web (spotify, youtube, whatever)

i have previously put on ayler, pharoah sanders, les rallizes denudes, suicide and coil, all with good success, but stuff that's much more "out there" than that probably won't fly

FKA Twigs - M3LL15X

the downward spiral

...

>tfw 1 off
art angels

Jesus and the Mary Chain - Psychocandy

Spirit of the West - Save This House

last try
:^)
>tfw these guys are the spiritual successors of Suicide
