DOOM's work is so good because it is so different, he brings something new to the table every project he releases, wether it be mm food or nehruvian doom, regardless of your thoughts he pioneered some dope fucking beat and flow styles.
Mad respect for Nas though, illmatic has some fckin amazing tunes on it.
But personally, the best rap album ever depends on who you are and what you're into obviously, and what mood you're in.
For instance, one second you might be blasting summertime '06 - Vince Staples then an hour later be blasting some fucking Steve Birko shit - A tribe called quest.
Any hip hop is generally good hip hop, but great hip hop had to make you want to listen, you want to be in a state of trance when you hear the flow coming out.

The greatest rap album ever is Illmatic of course.
Only Biggie's Life After Death or first Wu Tang Clan can be compared to this masterpiece. Of course there are tons of amazing hip-hop music around and I'm not saying there is nothing to listen to but these albums but they are 100% complete masterworks for me.
