It had discipline. It doesn't just fly off on goofy section changes. It has confidence and swagger and it comes at you head on. It doesn't mess around with generic philosophical prog lyrical themes. Actually it doesn't mess around at all.
The lyrics are definitely a plus. You can do some reading into them but it's obviously not to be taken seriously. Very contemporary for it's era, but still true to what Crimso is all about. Too many prog bands went south during the 80s.
