working on an r&b song. already got the vocals melody figured out but not the lyrics yet. took the vocals track off so you can just imagine that (probably a girl singing) and any feedback or critique on the beat would be much appreciated. clyp.it/nnadosb0

guy who was asking about softube here, found one on audioz if anyone else is interested

Dude from last thread who used my vox and asked how my tour's going if you come back - it's going 10/10 thanks for asking. And I'm thinking of releasing Core over next month (I slept on it and thought about it lol).

clyp.it/1nc04ewf Did this with a behringer c1 in like an hour with a friend and I would like to ask for opinions about how the mic sounds like, skip the gipsy romanian intro at about the half of the track it's really where it stands out I suppose, also anyone here knows and had experience with a budget microphone they can actually trust without a super expensive soundcard also I want to use it for other genres like indie acoustic thingies this beat was mostly made for fun, and yeah tips would be greatly appreciated.
Eli Watson
Lol I recorded one of my most popular songs on a microphone I got for free with a dodgy arse recorder from a cash converters/cheap tech store....random but you asking re cheap mics made me think about that.
Aaron Price
I mean recorded the vocals for one of my most popular songs* ugh
Ryan Howard
Yeah it's mostly about the quality of the song rather than how good the vocals sound but the mic that I have now is a 2$ shit that sounds mostly like an aeroplane and that's why I wish to buy something at least a bit better or without that awful background noise

Where did the /keyboard/ /piano/ thread go or whatever the fuck it was? If the gentlemen responsible for those threads see this post please make thread.
Adrian Perez
how did you get started with distributing your music?
Mostly myspace and soundcloud for my 3 projects. Actually professionally started in a duo and my prod partner was signed they distributed our stuff - then for my solo stuff the label who signed me had a send in and best gets signed. They started distributing my stuff right away. And still do, with numerous other labels distributing in different areas of the world jointly with them.

None of you shits pay for your plugins, so where you you get them from?
Connor Long
tfw you actually pay for your plug ins and almost always have
Like literally for the most part I've never ripped anything. Sample packs (okay some yes), software, plug ins - I for most part just buy because I find it 10/10 times easier to. Just imo.
Christian Richardson
>clyp.it/nnadosb0 actually real nice, the last 30 seconds is beaut
>clyp.it/hv1hggj4 In the first part, try to time the cycle of the arpeggiator(?) with the music, quite jarring (unless thats your thing), 1:48 onwards is perf man, really like it
>clyp.it/n5az2khe sounds like a NIN song, intro is gay, otherwise like it (except nothing happens)
Something I threw together on a weekend off. Literally my first attempt at making something longer than 20 seconds. clyp.it/clolyqtv
Jonathan Evans
Yeah, knowing what you're actually going to get and having the tech support is worth it. DESU it was more because it a company I haven't used before and wanted to see if their stuff was nice
I worked the shittest job to pay for everything and when I tell everyone I was a waiter at Hard Rock Cafe they laugh...but if I didn't I wouldn't have half the shit that helped me make my music. I was always paranoid that if I didn't download the proper stuff it wouldn't be good enough so I spent all my money ever on buying shit. Money well spent in the end and never any viruses lol.
Chase Barnes
I didn't like the pauses in the start. But that's just my opinion.

>Kick needs a bit more punch imo This is what's wrong with these fucking threads and most other "production feedback" sources on the internet.
Yes, the kick is mixed terribly, but that's not the problem. The song is fucking shit. Who gives a fuck about the kick.
One piece of advice I can give to amateur producers:
Asking for feedback in places like this is the blind trying to spot-check the blind. You will almost definitely not get good advice here, on any level. Same with the Soundcloud and Bandcamp threads.

having bought some stuff you also more eager to make your money worth it, and properly learn how to use the stuff you go.
I bought massive and can do nice sounds on it, way better than i can on sylenth or serum which is by comparison more simple

I gave constructive feedback in these threads for a while, but gave up once I realized it was mostly futile.
I wish there was a version of /prod/ with no sharing, no profile linking, no /general/ /soc/ shit,
Owen Phillips
That's the way I've got everything so far.
I get where you're coming from, but maybe Massive just gels better with you.
Jacob Flores
i'm not feeling it
David Collins
Pretty damn heavy. I dig it.
Not sure how well the hi hat goes with the rest of the instruments, but it's good. You could try putting that vocal clip sooner in the song
I agree with synchronize the arp with the guitar, or at least make them sync up eventually over time. Second part is pretty badass. Third part is very Justice
That bass was too loud to hear anything else at the beginning when it swells and everything else was really quite. Some interesting riffing ideas though. I'm not a huge fan of the main bass line
I agree, the pause is too much and needs something
Perhaps you're right, i don't regret the purchase tho.

chordbot would be pretty dank if it was also a synth imo
Austin Thompson
Is there any way to set the same midi device to different sounds/patches when its being sequenced? Like if I sequence a synth with my mpc would it be possible to set different settings on the synth to different channels to broaden my sounds?
Thanks. It's Ableton, I'm using Kairatune for the synths.
Nicholas Russell
Two options:
If you have a synth that is mono-timbral you can use MIDI program change messages to change patches mid-song but you're still limited to only playing a single patch at a time, or...
If you have a multi-timbral synth these are pretty much built for sequencing - for each part in a multi you'd have a different patch with a different MIDI channel assigned, then your sequencer can play all of them at once if needed and where polyphony allows.
