No, longplays are not the norm in dance music. Singles and EP's are and since dance music evolves at a relatively rapid place, essential charts are pointless as they turn obsolete pretty quick.

Discogs probably has the most extensive archive of every release ever. Most people like to discover more music by cataloguing labels on discogs and looking at where certain artists have released other stuff. Rateyourmusic is also a decent alternate option.
