Can Los Angeles be fixed, or will it always be an overheated, over-congested third-world mess?

People are too retarded and the leadership is too corrupt to build proper infrastructure.

Instead of building up any of the endless single story sprawl in the basin Victorville is becoming the new suburb.

lol that literally looks like mexico

I heard that the only way to fix its problems is if L.A becomes more like N.Y.

1) Build upward, not outward
2) Invest heavily in public transportation (which is practically non-existent over there)
3) Add more commercial centers

NIMBYs would never allow it. They love their autocentric sprawl.

We just passed Measure M to fund Metro expansions
Maybe one day we'll have public transit options good enough to decrease our dependence on cars

It's almost like it was once Mexican territory.

*is

That's a shame, then, especially because of how much it costs to build and maintain roads. You guys are probably gonna end up with another massive earthquake, too.

Also, what is it like to live right next to a massive freeway? In the LA area, there are houses actually underneath some of the overpasses. Is it constant noise and exhaust fumes?

I would've moved to LA if it wasn't for that awful traffic. It's an interesting city I have to admit. It's like a Miami with much better weather and more asians and whites.

That city really needs a good public transport system like in New York.

Part of that is because housing even in shitty areas of the LA region is expensive. Why live in a gang-infested slum in LA for twice the price and half the space of a gang-infested slum in Palmdale or something?

You could say that about almost every American city.

>los angeles
>third-world mess
lol kys

Zoning laws and regulations could be passed making it much easier to redevelop these areas.

The things killing redevelopment is spacing requirement, hight minimum, single use zoning, and parking requirements.

It wouldn't work. First of all the way the city was built was for cars, not pedestrians. It's too spread out to expect a metro system like that to ever work due of the distances. Second of all people would rather use a car, it's part of the culture.

LA is fucked, maybe and only maybe they should build parallel freeways so it's not so bad during rush hour.

I've read a book by a guy who proposed ways to turn north american cities car free.

Los Angeles was one of them, although he admitted it would be the most difficult and challenging it's still technically possible.

man, I want to move to LA and become an actor.
How do I do it, help me out LA bros.

play the role of a greek character

...

As someone who lives around LA, I can safely say, no, it's fucked.

The city is trash, the people are trash, the streets are filled with literal and figurative trash.

It's very autocentric and yet 95% of these fuckers can't operate a car worth a damn. I swear they are on the road just for the sake of being there, with no fucking concern of time and no consideration of anyone around them who may have a fucking schedule to keep.

I've lived in the area for over 25 years and it's made me bitter and angry. I exist in a constant state of road rage.

It's shit.

>Greeks will pay for Sup Forums passes instead of paying denbts

or the mexican, hola amigo, hey hombre, ARIMBA!

fucking Christ , slavshit, it's like only $20.

that also works

why would you post a pic of corona, which isn't even close to LA, if this topic was supposed to be about LA?

LA region. It's all one big urban blob from Simi Valley to Yucaipa.

Is it a good idea to go to LA for a vacation in January? Or would you recommend any other parts of California?

but its not really. LA proper is way more shitty than some place like south orange county.

depends on what you like to do for fun

>remove spics

problem solved

>still be degenerate
>still be nothing but congested highways
>still be in the desert
>no more mexican food or korean tacos
literally why would you do this

>>still be degenerate

Degeneracy besides SJW faggotry is the best thing about LA.

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to be in a boring sexless evangelical state.

See a city(maybe travel to near cities as well, depends on how easy is to get there), wander around, eat American and Mexican food, smoke weed. Maybe go to a beach sometimes. I assume there is nothing to do in la without a car, isn't it? Or I can rent a house near a metro station and it would be ok?

intellectual pursuits and fine arts are not degenerate by nature, so your point is null. LA culture on the other hand is generic pop music and porn.

you can do all that pretty easy, you'd probably want to be in santa monica or anywhere on the west side in that case however. a car is kind of the default way to get around. the metro really only goes around downtown and its not that extensive, for someone coming from europe it'll seem like crap i'd imagine.

also the water will be fucking cold as shit in January so the beach won't be much fun. the water on the east coast stays much warmer.

Oh, it's good. Yeah, I want to attend Santa Monica, San Francisco and some nature places. Bad thing that there is a chance, that friend with a driver license won't go with us, so I try to figure out what would we do in that case.
Heard about that, but it's ok, we're done with resort vacations.

Riverside is the city of Travis Barker.
