I've been studying it a bit (I still suck at it though) because I figure, along with Arabic, it'll be very useful for a career in military intel. Mandarin might be more useful but honestly fuck learning to read the Chinese writing system tbqh.

well, that is one of the reasons of why i like it. next year i want to dedicate a lot of my time learning a language and russian (and turkish too) is a candidate for its difficulty. indonesian and persian are just because i like the countries

There is not a single reason to learn Russian. It is useless and as a westerner you won't be able to learn it well enough, because it is so different.

well, unless i wanted to live or visit russia i don't think it could be that useful for me. if i learn russian probably the only use i will give to it is talking to people, watching movies and listening to music.

I want to learn Russian because I have a lot of free time on my hands when I am not working out and studying. I tend to play video games or watch youtube videos. I'm a native English speaker and understand to become proficient in Russian will take ~1,100 hours to learn.
