So the japs adapted an english word into their vocabulary, when there was none avalible in Japanese? Is it common? Why didn't they have a language reform to prevent this?

Really common. They even create new words out of English ones. Because they don't care. When it's written in katakana it's not English anymore for them, it becomes Japanese.
Sounds about right. It becomes unintelligable after there is an "a" at the end and the "l"s and "r"s are mixed up completely anyways. I just thouht the japs would rush to prevent a cultural infiltration from the west. Or at least they would have, before the wars.
Jacob Gonzalez
They didn't care enough, apparently. Besides, that's only limited to everyday objects imported from the west, such as doors, forks, etc. There are a lot of direct Japanese translations of technical and political terms, which ironically tend to be virtually identical in all European languages (words like philosophy, democracy, etc.).
Austin Gomez

So they didn't reform the vocabulary at all? Just absorbed english and other words like the fucking borg?
Evan Barnes
But there are some ''Japanese English words(和製英語)''. It's meaning is difficult from an origin English word .
Jayden Lopez
Meh. Gonna vote for him tomorrow. Just want to see the leftist face in 2017 when they will have to choose between Fillon and Marine

I guess they didn't, but I don't think it really matters. Japanese still remains very lexically different from European languages. You know how when you learn a foreign European language, the more technical you get, the more similar the vocabulary? Well, you don't get that in Japanese, because they lack the Greek and Latin cultural influence. There's no real concern regarding the 'purity' of the language.
Gabriel Williams
A large part of their vocabulary also originates from China (漢語)
That's what I was referring to when saying "creating new words".
Adrian Rodriguez
Johnny Depp
Jack Sanders
四 = し 中 = なか 田 = だ
Parker Taylor
To add to what I said, most English loanwords are used only in casual circumstances. If you open any Wikipedia article about politics you practically won't see any katakana words.
Isaac Bennett
Another question before I bugger off since I probably disrupt the thread too much with my less than elemental understanting of the japanese and their culture. Are all japanes jokes just puns? Make a little tounge twister with similarly sounding words and you got a hilarious jap joke?
Camden Foster

Cameron Jenkins
And I mistaked. ''It's meaning is difficult from an origin English word .''→’’It's meaning is diffrent from an origin English word .''
Cooper Peterson
That much I knew, since I learned they adpated the chinese script for writing,so it was a given. Do the chinese characters still hold the same meaning as they do in chinese or have they shifted a lot?

Naturally not all of them. It's a pretty big part of their humor though, yes, caused by the large abundance of homonyms.
Elijah Fisher
There's no way the leftists are voting for either of them. Many people aren't going to vote probably.
Some characters don't have the same meaning anymore but if you know Japanese you can somewhat make sense out of Chinese sentences.
Luke Cooper
And vice versa, right? Or at least a little bit, right, since japanes operates with half of chinese characters and pasta shaped lines, I want to learn chinese, not japanese.
I can't speak from a Chinese point of view but knowing Chinese can only make things easier.

Yeah Juppé would crush the FN because of them. But it could be pretty close with Fillon. I don't see why any blue collar would vote for him as they'll get even more fucked if he wins.

I'm surprised how industrialized the japanese are when it comes to producing media, It's fascinating!
