The way I see it is that soccer is just a worse version of hockey.
Gavin Clark

Olympics is my favourite sport too.

Pro Boxing 19 > UFC 16
ABSOLUTELY BLOWN THE FUCK OUT
Andrew Adams
Most of the americans not even knows nothing about the sport but hates anyway. it's a cultural thing.
Samuel Cruz
Why you no like Japan?
Josiah Peterson
Why Korea no speak good engrish
Mason Jenkins
Because we weren't brainwashed from birth to think it's the greatest thing ever.
I mean, watching a bunch of midgets jog around for 2 hours, occasionally faking injury just isn't that interesting if you're completely honest with yourself.
William Wright
Football is a working class game. It doesn't require expensive equipment, anyone can play it. For poor lads in English towns and cities, football was something they could play to entertain themselves, but also to prove themselves, to get strong and fit, and eventually it was a way to make money. And that's the same across Europe and South America too
That's why people love it, it is a game for the masses. Unlike something like "hockey" (I assume you mean ice hockey) which requires expensive equipment. Sports like that are inherently niche - if you want to play you have to live near an ice rink, you need a stick, pads, everything.
There is no barrier to entry with football. Even if you don't have a pot to piss in, you can still have a kickabout with local kids down the park.
I often think this is the difference between the European love of football and the American love of handegg. We want to watch a sport that most of us play. Whereas you guys don't seem to care about watching a sport you play, you just want something visually spectacular, which would explain all the fireworks and adverts and crap.
Matthew Lee
fuck off gook
Samuel Garcia
So you'd rather watch fat black men in pads grope each other for all of 15 minutes, spread over an hour with 45 minutes of adverts
Got it
Christopher Lewis
Korea a shit
Josiah Diaz
College basketball under figure staking and gymnastics? Please post a fucking source this is bullshit
Leo Wood
MLS is shit and we have already have Football, Basketball, Baseball and Hockey. The only time we pay attention really is the world cup and the babby cup.
>USA USA USA USA USA USA USA
Jaxson Green
This is a good point. Although I will say most gridiron fans did play growing up. It's not that difficult just being on the team in high school. Rosters can easily be 80+.
Jack Flores
You're right that we dont like soccer. But this chart is waaaaaaay off
Eli Bennett
The strange thing is that a lot of Americans do play soccer up until and sometimes through high school (14-18 years old). The problem is that you have to choose between Americaball and Soccer as your fall sport.
American football is much more accepted here- it gets you the popularity, scholarships, etc. Whereas soccer is seen as a niche sport and college soccer is less popular than college rugby or fucking ultimate frisby.
Anthony Bailey
butthurt mohammed pls
Dominic Reyes
Is soccer a sport or a religious sect for you people? jfc
Jordan Evans
The Premier League is more popular than MLS here.
Isaac Phillips
lel no
Wyatt Harris
Because Americans are a special kind of people. If they suck at something, they invent a more autistic version of it and only play with each other instead of trying to git gud.
John Williams
Eh. By around 1908 ,the time international competition was popular, America already preferred baseball and college gridiron. Not to mention travelling across the Atlantic frequently for a friendly wasn't really viable in those days.
By the time consistent competition against Europe was a reasonable option, we were culturally set in our ways that American Football and baseball were the pillars of sport.
Jackson Thompson
it is though
Also soccer is a sport that fast paced and it's difficult to measure one player's contribution to a winning or losing effort (strikes excluded). Same problem that baseball has, but at least it has tradition helping it
Zachary Morales
Except the actual timeline is totally wrong and can't have that cause-and-effect
Hudson Price
First of all, this is negated by the fact that MLS is tied with UFC on your chart. UFC is the fastest-growing sport in the US, is growing rapidly among males AND females, and is clearly the next big thing. The growth of everything above it on that chart is stagnant. Much higher ceiling.
Second of all, we don't take shit from South Korea here, one word from us and we give North Korea all your passwords and you're all in labor camps.
Colton Howard
Why would a kid growing up want to play a game where you can't use your arms?
Josiah Sullivan
Literally nobody I know cares about ufc at all unless it's a mcgregor fight
Aiden Cruz
From my understanding, UFC is filling the gap after Boxing went to complete shit.
Isaiah Wilson
Nice.
Noah Ortiz
>Whereas you guys don't seem to care about watching a sport you play, you just want something visually spectacular, which would explain all the fireworks and adverts and crap.
Except anyone can play Americaball. Thin, fat, short, tall, fast or slow there's a position you excel at.
>tall fast and skinny? Play wide reciever
>dumpy fat kid? Stick him on the line
>kid whose dad punches him a little too much? Linebacker
>Coach's son? Quarterback whether he likes it or noI WANT TO PLAY ON THE DEFENSE DAD REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Justin Gonzalez
>Literally nobody I know
Your argument doesn't count if you never leave your parents basement.
Luis Foster
All you need to play hockey is a pair of skates and a stick. I just went down to my local pond and played pickup every night in the winter. Of course if you live in a non-based part of the US you don't have pond hockey and should just kill yourself.
Ian Lewis
A basketball isn't expensive. A mitt and ball isn't expensive. An American football isn't expensive.
These are all games we grew up playing.
Benjamin Taylor
Also this.
Lucas Long
Football pads are very expensive. A backboard and hoop is very expensive.
Shutting the fuck up is very cheap.
Jeremiah Reyes
>he never played telephone poll to telephone poll
What a shit childhood relative
Joshua Hughes
>Football pads are very expensive As a kid you never wore pads to play with your buddies at the local park >A backboard and hoop is very expensive What is a public park or a literal crate nailed to your garage
Eli Long
You were given pads when you played
Jaxson Edwards
>a public park
Gee, I dunno user, that sounds like socialism to me.
Noah Lewis
> he didn't play 2-hand touch with a 5 Mississippi rush with his best neighborhood bros
Sorry for your horseshit childhood faggot

Sorry your town was shit growing up and didn't have based parks to play at.
Christian Young

Carson Gomez
Literally every school playground in America has a basketball court you onion.
Dominic Edwards
>american adults Boomers fuck up the stats. No way in hell is baseball more popular than UFC let alone college football with millennials. Older americans actively hate on soccer and ufc because they feel its a threat to their sport. Mike Francesa perfectly sums up Boomer feelings on soccer and UFC (you don't know how many old people hate MMA).
Jason James
I grew up in a shitty trailer park and there were still at least seven basketball hoops in the neighborhood.
>I had the nicest one so everyone came to my house >I also had Sega AND SNES and my mom cooked for everyone
Jace Gutierrez
american sports ironically could only survive because of socialism (taxes pay for schools to have football programs and taxes pay for parks basketball courts).
Connor Sanchez
> that Chad that wanted to be all-time QB

Yes. I'd watch that over literally-nothing-happening-the-sport

How is that ironic? Americans have always invested in parks.

Americans, through no fault of their own, just don't get it. They're a first world country - even the poorest neigbourhoods have basketball courts. Some guy in this thread was trying to say hockey was cheap, all you need is a stick and skates. The masses in other countries can't even afford normal shoes let alone skates. Their shitty governments also don't provide facilities - you make do with what you can
Matthew Jenkins
Because its boring. Duh.
