After a week away following the conclusion of the Premier League, the PDC circus moves onto Germany for the only doubles tournament on the calendar with the World Cup of Darts. The format has slightly changed from previous years with there only being eight seeds now instead of sixteen.
England (read: Stoke's Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis) retained their title last year with a fairly simple win over Scotland. The Scottish twosome that time - Gary Anderson and Peter Wright - has been split, with PL failure Robert Thornton replacing Clownman for "personal reasons". It is far more likely, however, that Wright has had to withdraw following the comments his hambeast wife made to both Snackpot and Gando following their 7-2 match in the last week of the PL. The Twitter rage from Coco the Cow over the supposedly "fixed match" - which was in no way helped by her husband's inability to beat Raymond van Barneveld and throw his playoff chances down the toilet, oh no - has cost Panto Pete when he has strongly improved recently, and was even tolerable in Dubai last week!
Nevertheless, the number two seeds still have a job to do, with them facing New Zealand in the opening round. With Taylor tormentor Rob Szabo failing to qualify this year, debutant Cody Harris is the Kiwi who teams up with MVG mauler Warren Parry to face the World and World GP champions. Let's hope there's no terrible haka from them this year.
Speaking of Michael van Gerwen, his inability to play with new Dutch number two Jelle Klaasen owing to an incident related to sending dick pics to retarded girls has resulted in Barney retaining his pairing from last year. despite his With professional Jack Osbourne impersonator Boris Koltsov and batshit insane Aleksandr Oreshkin representing Russia, this could be a tricky task for the third seeds if they're not up to scratch.
All first round matches are pairs with the best of 9 legs (first to 5) going through.
Coverage starts from 7:00pm UK time on Sky Sports 1.

Favourite darts event of the year, even if I am going to miss tomorrow night and the first hour tonight due to work. Keep us informed /180/.

>no Parody/Duo combo for Gibraltar
Was a big fan of the Hungarian team a few years back who were utter shit.
Disappointed Paul Nicholson's not playing for Straya this year, enjoyed his feud with the Huybrechts lads last year.
Ryan Jenkins
Elsewhere in the world of darts, the BDO's long-awaited #NewEra finally got underway over the Bank Holiday Weekend with the seeded legplay (wait, don't they hate that?) World Trophy.
Dave screened the event with a more than adequate display that was actually a pretty good standard.
What was not a good standard was the play on show. With just 19 averages above 90 in the entirety of the men's tournament, and only 2 above 100, it is safe to say the BDO should refrain from calling themselves professional any more.
As for the so called "New Era", it was Stockport bottlejob Darryl Fitton, 54, who won his first ever UK televised major in a turgid 13-9 affair against Aussie qualifier Peter Machin who averaged an atrocious-in-a-major-final 81 to Dazzler's not-that-much-better 87.
Noah Roberts
This will be fun. I'm curious to see how the atmosphere will be in Germany. I hope German fans won't be too embarrassing. For the matches: It will be fun to see Aleksandr Oreshkin tonight, and tomorrow based Royden Lam.
Logan Richardson
>Paul Nicholson's not playing for Straya this year, enjoyed his feud with the Huybrechts lads last year Why can't Nicho and Kimmy just feud themselves off the TV screen? Never liked them, never will. I felt so bad for Shitlock that he had to deal with that idiot Nicho during that game, and pretty much everything about Kimmy is just annoying, even without that game against Wolfie.
Andrew Ross
And we're on now!
Isaac Collins
>Why can't Nicho and Kimmy just feud themselves off the TV screen? well Nicho isn't on telly any more so...

Artut getting BTFO by Mardle
Hunter Turner
Mission 50% complete.
Christian Hill
Would have liked to have seen this, coverage was supposed to be half decent by all accounts, so hopefully they might make a go of it. I forget, is it BT sport that have picked up the BDO worlds?
Also lol at clownman and his missus
Austin Watson
Thanawat doing better on the checkouts than he did at the Worlds.
Benjamin Baker
Oh man, I haven't been in these threads in a long time. Guess this is as good a time as any.
Pretty interesting that they're starting out with doubles now. This should be fun.
Logan Howard
Beautiful 105 from Bezzeg.
Adam Davis
German TV just said that he's a truck driver who came to the game somewhen in the 90s by chance, because a local pub team was missing a player, so they asked him if he wanted to help out.
Oliver Campbell
>16 >D20 >D6 Oh World Cup, how I love you.
Brayden Martin
Where's the shitty finishing I was expecting from these guys? Oh, there it is.
>pulling the double twice in a row
Juan Cruz
>have multiple chances to go 3-1 up >end up 3-2 down >magyarorszag
Wyatt Howard
Some of this looks slightly better than when I play pub darts, and that's not good at all. At least when I miss the big number, I sometimes shank it into a further away triple, like pulling a shot at 19 into T17.
Angel Miller
>that face wew
Jason Ross
>German fans singing "There's only one Phil Taylor"
Chase Jones
better than >There's only one Andree Welge
Connor Martinez
Germans love Phil Taylor for some reason. Like, more than English fans. I don't get it.
Brody Cox
You think that new Unicorn they are using board is good? Until now, I played the Eclipse Pro, and compared to the Winmau Blade4, it's really crap, so I'm not planning on buying a Unicorn board anytime soon.

>BDO
Oh right.
Jack Gonzalez
who /daddycool/ here?
Brody Hall
Played a practice match with a teammate of me this week, got raped by an >80avg. Guy could have easily competed in the last match. But well, practice is one thing, gameplay is much more difficult, and playing on stage is probably pure adrenaline.
Also: Time for freedom!
Caleb Collins
>le look up at the darts man oh god not again
>all these BDO mentions barry will be mad
Nicholas Long
sue perkins playing for the phillipines here.
Jordan Stewart
Deta's arrers are ridiculous. Also lol at this lezzer looking philipino, would give some of the munters in the womens game a run for a calender spot.

How does Larry Butler get a spot here? Another case of the PDC just making up the rules/allocation spots as they go along?
Noah Rogers

This guy.

Was reading that they have changed this rule this year, basically to allow for the fact that MVG wont play with pedo-darter.

At least Australia has a new darting hero to look up to.
Part that got me was that the Womens prize for coming second was £2000
Elijah Sanchez
Understandable on mvg's part.

I thought Suarez pulled out of his own volition like Snakeshite did?

Darts is coming home lads, who will be able to stop us?

Didn't know Irving played darts
Aiden Hernandez
Well so the statement released by him and the PDC goes, likewise with Snakeshite, but i think i read on tsod/doublefinish they had changed that rule as well. Maybe not, their threads were full of speculation and conjecture as you can imagine.
Easton Jackson

>cor dekker yeah this guy is totally not dutch at all, pure norwegian, just like his not-austrian team mate robert wagner.
Nathan Evans
I just realized that at the rate this is going, Germany will still be playing at midnight German time. You'd think the host nation would get better placement.
Oh hey, good to see you again.
Kayden Rivera
They're still going to make it. >implying it isn't the eagle's year
y-you too

LIKE MY STYLE CAN'T GET ENOUGH

Counted the legs of the last 2 games. Best leg was 16. Didn't count the first leg of both games though, because german TV has the unhealthy habit of extending the commercial breaks well into them.
