Dude watching people play video games isn't weird, it's just like how people watch sports

>dude watching people play video games isn't weird, it's just like how people watch sports

How do we end this meme? Why are there so many people that watch other people play video games on youtube/twitch/live "competition"?

Are "e-sports" a sport now? Why is everyone becoming autistic?

do people that don't play games watch these competitions? I get the feeling e-sports are a huge circle jerk

That's exactly what it is.

I mean why do you watch a bunch of dudes running around? It probably isn't because you love watching the human from (or maybe you do..). You like experiencing competition, watching two people or teams do all that they can in the moment to accomplish a goal, while being directly opposed by others.

I don't really like "e-sports" but it's the same people watch chess and things like that.

The above reasoning is why I consider enjoying racing "sports" the least

I notice you offer no rebuttal to the point. Good thread OP

>Literally millions following "e-sport"
Dude, as a "sport", it's bigger than pretty much every sports out there bar an handful.

E-sports are for mandchildren but the greentexted argument is not an opinion, it's a fact.

We were just born slightly too soon. If I was 15 now I'd be a pro gamer I think.

You're a dinosaur if you don't realize where it's headed. Sure, watching stuff like Hearthstone is literally the equivilent of watching a game of checkers. But Poker is being broadcasted, lots of people watch that.

E-sports are just modern games that are actually rather exciting to watch (some, atleast.).
It's really only a matter of time before someone cracks the code and makes THE game. The WoW of eSports. Also 20 years from now, it's gonna be some VR shit that incorporates bodymovements and shit.

It's the future lad.

I always thought part of the appeal of video games was that you need no real skill or conditioning or proper training to play them, any autist can get good at them with enough time.

This is the same shit I heard 10 years ago. Other than South Gookland, it still ain't true.

I am well surprised this was created by an American.

Well, people who can't get /fit/ for shit and are fat or socially inept, prefer to play video games 24/7 and call this a sport so their parents can be proud or something. It's a bit sad that some people playing League and DOTA earn more than some doctors

it says a lot about the current state of the youth tbhfam

internet & video games are ruining this generation

Their peak viewership is 32 million across every single game played competitively

Cricket and soccer have broken 1 billion, the supurb owl gets 100 million etc etc

It's popular and entertaining form of competition that involves hand-eye coordination/dexterity and requires intensive training for muscle memory/reflex, but it's about as much of a """""""real sport"""""" as those irrelevant stationary Olympics events.

10 years ago the biggest prize pool was what.. 200k dollars?

Today they are competing for 5 million.

Is e-sport actually a thing in other countries

I've never fucking heard of it being unironically followed here, every now and then there's an ironic fb even to watch a DOTA final at a rugby pub or something but even some of my biggest gamer friends don't watch it.

Because E!SPN tells them that E-Sports is a sport.

They have dedicated sections to it. They often shove that shit on frontpage for their E-team drama.

I'd be fine with this shit if it wasn't called e-"""sport""".

>Sport (UK) or sports (US) are all forms of usually competitive PHYSCAL activity or games which,[1] through casual or organised participation, aim to use, maintain or improve PHYSICAL ability and skills while providing enjoyment to participants

The level they manage to reach at these games is genuinely impressive though, at least for the people who actually play these games (everyone else will only see a retard twiddling a pad/typing and clicking away while a chaotic mess shows on screen).

Every time I'd go to the library at uni when whatever the fuck they call the leagues were on, there would always be chinks crowded around computers watching it

will an horse ever be e-sport athlete?

stop liking what i don't like!!!!!!!!!!

Don't they use crowdfunding to raise the prize money?
