China's economy allegedly grew 6.9% in 2015. How believable is this?

Seems like a lot of western posters thinks the real numbers are much lower.

It's debatable.

It's believed by some people that cities/provinces will overestimate their GDPs in order to meet the goals set by their superiors in Beijing, and this in turn inflates the national GDP estimates.

At the same time, other people believe the GDP might in fact be underestimated because the government may believe that having too high of a GDP will take power away from China's ability to say "we're still a developing country, we can't fulfill the same obligations expected of developed countries"

The possibility that it's understated is seriously scary

Southeast Asia win

Noice.
Been waiting for this thread.
Started learning characters 2 week ago.
It's really interesting.

No idea what you're referring to

How do I write characters?
Is the order of the lines that important or just copy the lines?

Stroke order is considered to be important, especially when you write quickly or if you want to write in cursive styles. It's also helpful for memorizing the characters.

blog.tutorming.com/mandarin-chinese-learning-tips/7-basic-rules-to-chinese-stroke-order

So I shouldn't plop down lines randomly using a pencil/pen.
Nice to know.

Most digital dictionaries have stroke order animations as well.

The Pleco phone app has it (can't remember if it's a free add-on or if it's paid) and this dictionary website has it mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php

Stroke order is not important as long as the end result is right.

>It's believed by some people that cities/provinces will overestimate their GDPs in order to meet the goals set by their superiors in Beijing, and this in turn inflates the national GDP estimates.

That's similar to what the Soviets were doing in the 70s and 80s right? Does that mean that theoretically, it's possible that the Chinese economy could just crash and fuck us all over without any warning signs, since the numbers are all doctored?

That is what every communist does:
>Pjotr,we will achieve 60% growth with 5 year plan!
>Sasha fears he will be executed or thrown into jail for not meeting goals
>sends in report of 120% growth
>Pjotr,we will achieve 150% growth with five year plan!
>Sasha fears he will be executed or thrown into jail for not meeting goals
>sends in report of 200% growth
>Repeat ad nauseam

Anyway,I'm eager to have a conversation with you regarding chinese literature and language tomorrow.
Good night.

我也学习汉语。如果你每天学习,用Hellotalk和微信给别的聊天你也可以有流利的汉语。我的语法不好,但是中国人可以听懂我的意思所以我满意了。

I would suggest following stroke order because it makes your characters easier to read, easier to remember, easier to write, and easier for computer algorithms to recognize them.

Anyone want to tell me what kind of site bilibili is? As in like, what its userbase looks like? My friend always recs videos to it but what's the difference between bilibili and qq video?

have you ever receive this much red evenlope?

no, just cash nowdays

I haven't looked into grammar yet,but it can't be that hard.
It has nothing in common with hungarian but having no suffixes sounds simple.

It considered very difficult because it shares no root with english-- but the grammar is simple and there are not many special cases, you need a smaller vocabulary, and imo people imagine the writing system is more difficult than it actually is. I've come around to thinking that it's not a difficult language, but it takes a long time to learn because you have to start with literally nothing.

It's overly mystified in the west honestly. Most people think the words and writing are completely random.
The hard part is collecting characters that are worthwhile.

你们乖巧地用简体字写吧

I think people just massively overrate how difficult tones are. Like people seem to act like learning 4 tones is harder than learning the pronunciation of every word individually like you have to do with English.
