4chin now has a filter in place to block the uploading of lots of images of girls like Jordyn Jones. When you try to upload an image it says 'upload failed'. Sup Forums proudly shouts that it is one of the most tolerant sites on the internet for people to express themselves without censorship. Yet it has one of the most harsh censorship mechanisms there is.

Maybe it does. Wouldn't surprise me, though . Sup Forums has had a prominent place in the public discussion about child porn, drugs, all that shit, since forever. Which unfortunately means lots of government / law enforcement visits, and the mods had to tighten up. Just how it is.
I understand the blocking of certain images for legal reasons. I understand the rule regarding the uploading of 'child models'. But they have overstepped even their own rules to the point where even uploading an image of a girl that looks 'young' can get you banned.
This is truly PC gone mad. The posting of anything illegal has all but been wiped out which is a good thing. But now it has become indiscriminate and overbearing and it's actually become quite easy to get banned for something that would otherwise be seen as quite harmless.

Tell me, if you were the site owner/moderator, would you rather let people post things that may or may not be illegal, and is hard to tell by just looking, or things that are clearly legal, so that you don't have to worry about getting v& for some dumbass who didn't realize the person they were posting was underage

I meant the moderation's intended purpose not the site overall. All the really fun and illicit things but not necessarily illegal (Things like raids etc) haven been ejected from the site and an element of fear has replaced it.

The site has had an image hash database for a lot of CP for a long time. I think it might even be provided (forced upon?) by the feds. But that database has expanded to include images that are freely and legally available outside of the site. Some of it quite harmless. Whether someone gets off to an image is another matter.
I'm amazed this thread is still up to be honest. Maybe they are waiting for someone to post something they can nail them on. Or just logging for future investigation. Who knows! But that's just my own paranoia speaking.
