How retarded is Sup Forums?

Not much actually, but now that you're here...

kek

this

about as much as you OP

40,320???
Lol

192.
>2x3=6
>6x4=24
>so 24x8=192

120

>inb4 retarded answers

40,320

niggers this :

2 = 2x1 = 2

3 = 3x2x1 = 6

4 = 4x3x2x1 = 24

8 = 8x7x6x5x4x3x2x1 = 40320

Ding ding ding

8! = 40,320

thiz

when did it ever say that it was factorial

Do you even factorial bro?

yup

2! = 2
3! = 6
4! = 24
8! = 40320

...

Just regular.

i mean i can understand what you're going for, but that's not how sequences of numbers work

as in there is no formula that you can plug it into. what you're doing only works the image, you can't expand it into the future. so i couldn't say "what is the corresponding value for 11?" because the equation just breaks down.

you've almost got the formula for a factorial, but you're applying it incorrectly.

n*(n-i)*(n-2i)

1*0*-1=0
2*1*0 = 0
3*2*1=6
4*3*2=24

1*0 = 0
2*1 = 2
3*2 = 6
4*3=12

how could you generate the value for 2 if it weren't given for you?

I fucking hate this types of question since answer is open to interpretation. Factorials yea some other function why not?

Solved it

my equation is fucked up there. i've got two things going on at once.

n*(n-i)*(n-2i)

would be

1*(1-1)*(1-2) = 0
2*(2-2)*(2-4) = 0
3*(3-3)*(3-6) = 0

which is nonsensical. i meant the factorial function, n!. i just pasted what i was working on in notepad.

how do you find the value for 2? what would the value be for 15?

who says it cant be, it works

kek,ok answer is 192

so, basic factorial?

Why not 2 remains 2. Anyway question is retarded, why does it have to work for anything but given set?

40,320

1x2x3x4x5x6x7x8 = 40,320

192

finally people with brains

its just a problematic conclusion to pull from the sequence given.

in a vacuum yeah it works but it relies on previous values. when you get an equation like that its usually wrong by design. what i mean is that your Yn depends on your Xn and Yn-1 values. its an acceptable answer for the purposes of this problem sure but its seeing a pattern that isn't 'strictly there'.

it could be elucidated and one of us could be proven right and the other wrong if instead it was like

2=2
3=6
5=30
19=? and the answer would be 30*19 or 570.

or if instead the picture was
2=2
3=6
5=120
8=?

then it would be clear it was 8! = 40320

i'm rambling here but the point i'm trying to make is that the factorial equation is a more general answer to the problem than the recursive one you chose.

the picture in the OP is purposefully vague to generate two possible answers.

you're not wrong, you're just not as right as you could be.

/thread

I know best answer is factorial but it could also be this retarded shit or even some completely different function no one here thought of. How do you even choose the best answer? Simplest or most difficult/convoluted? Questions with multiple possible answers are pointless and really tell you nothing. Thats my problem with any complete sequence tests, since its almost always possible to create another logical sequence.
