There's a lot to the game so I'll just hit the major points. It's different from a lot of VN's because it has a large inventory of items you find and use. You also have the freedom to choose where to go and explore around 100 main screens of map with more unlockable depending on the situation.
Story is great but this is the watered-down version. Kid gets a letter from his dead father. It leads him to his father's research, which was about parallel universes. Basically, dad ain't dead, and he tells you how to find him. You can travel between these universes to complete the whole game. Basically once you get to the end of a route, you'll have done enough to get farther in another via a warp. You can only warp to a certain number of points depending on how far in you get.
I've played the big 4 for Key, Rewrite, Air, Clannad and Little Busters!
