I'm grabbing my first bike soon it'll be a new Yamaha 2016 YZF R125 ABS. Any of you guys ride? If so why? and what do you ride.

Shouldn't you start with a cbr for experience? That is what I heard.

I ride your mom's pussy.

I ride a Kawasaki er500a and I love it

...

Not too wild about the racer type bikes but the 125 is a great starter size bike. Hard to find anything under 500cc in the US.

2008 Suzuki gsx650f. my first bike. Love it. A 125 is good to learn on but you're going to outgrow it fast. I'd pick something bigger, a 500cc or so. It's alot of money to buy a new bike then get tired of it after a year.

its a 125 with about 15hp, its a fine bike to gain experience on.

I ride an old man bike BMW 1150rt

ABS isn't good when starting to drive
Since your first bike doesn't have too much power, grab one without ABS or disable it
Best to improve without it and get a feeling for it, gives you better control over bikes and you learn more

First bike was a Suzuki GS500, good first bike. More recently had a 2008 YZF-R6, sold it when I moved. Shit was fast.

Honda VTX 1800. Literally the most powerful, comfortsble cruiser you can buy. I've taken this thing all over the south. She's been a wonderful memory maker.

Sure you can get "cooler" stuff from Harley or Yamaha these days, but my vtx is a minimalist experience. It's just you and the road.

I understand what you mean. But the thing is I need to rack up experience on the road and you have to be 19 possibly 24 in the UK to ride bikes that fast.

Moooootorcyyyycle

Also wtf do you mean "why?" Because motorcycle.

It was, until yamaha came out with the raider. 1900cc and just as comfy.

I can confirm that just feels to powerless. I think I'll get a Honda hornet pc41 after my probation time is over(2 years of driving with 48 HP)

I ride a hog, becuase I'm not a pathetic manlet riding a toy bike designed for 5ft nips.

Thanks for the advice man.

True, UK has different restrictions. In that case the 125 should serve you well until they let you ride something bigger.

Second this riding in the rain and relying strictly on abs then get on another bike without it you're eating pavement

Watch out for blonde women, my bike is a crumpled pile of metal at the moment because a bimbo crashed into me

You got me mate. I can never recover from this insult.

New sticker

I wouldnt start on a 125, its almost more dangerous because it has ZERO power. Hardly can get out of its own way. Id say a ninja 250 or 500 would be the best starter bike.

My R1 for show (first bike)

Just wait for dat $$$

My lawnmower might be more powerful

Great bike man, looks like it'd be great fun to ride.

bought an old Honda vtr 250cc.
currently restoring it after being in a garage for 5 years.

Go for a 2 stroke if 125cc or lower. A socalled moped is great place to start.

As I said, the UK laws are cucking me hard.

You mean all women, and all men.
I ride a Hayabusa, and it's fun and all but commuting is a hazard.
People just flat out come into your lane, they do not see you because they just check their mirrors at best.

Op, if you plan to do highway time, a 125 is not adequate, like someone else said get at least a 250. Get it used, you will drop it. Plus in a year or so you can sell it for about what you paid and move up to something bigger.

ohh didnt realize UK.
yeah that sucks man, Bore it out , throw some new cams and pistons in it.

I started on an 06 R6S, never ridden a bike before, but I knew how to hand clutch and shift from a blaster I had as a kid. I think it was perfect man. Enough power when you need to accel quickly, but not too much that will throw you off of it. Fuck I miss that thing. Best years of my life

They make you start with a 125? Geez.

As soon as I can I will get a faster bike, if I could I'd get a 250cc or 660cc :/

Yeah it's more dangerous to be honest. Very frustrating to be restricted to such a slow machine.

My bike niggas. '94 HD Sportster body with a 1200 Buell and drag bars. Shits tight yo

I'm more of a cruiser guy myself.
First bike was a 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500
some bitch hit me on that, totalled it.
Then I got a 2007 Harley Davidson Road King
traded that in then I got a 2013 Road Glide Ultra

Some riders have this whole cruiser vs. sport bike thing; not me. Fuck it man, if you ride, you ride. Scooter, sportbike, cruiser, touring, cafe racer - it's all good man.

This is my second bike though. Started on a street legal KTM. I'll always recommend dirt bikes as a first bike because you WILL drop it.

good times

my road glide ultra

Agreed. I'm in Indiana, harley people don't wave to sport bike guys. Good, cause the whole waving to someone else just because they are on a bike is annoying to me.
Oh, you also went and bought a vehicle that has two wheels, awesome, we are now brothers and must wave to each other.

Do you park your bike in a dealers showroom every night?

As a Harley guy I'll always wave. I find it's usually the older guys that don't. Hell, I'm the only non-rice rocket in my group and there's 12 of us. Generational shit imo

my 08 cb1000r

Currently rebuilding my Hayabusa with a stage 2 turbo. Newly licensed asshat cut me off doing 70 on I-10 near downtown Los Angeles.

In the meantime I've got a 2003 KTM 450EXC to hold me over. Pig slow, loud as fuck, and trashy white girls love it. Whatever.

Don't bash the 450 those things are super fun.

LOL that was the day I bought it

Def wasn't a bash. Leaks everywhere, fucking dies at red lights for no reason, and in general I'm never 100% sure I'm going to make it to my destination. But fuck, that bike has character.

my cbr1000rr
Flashed ecu, full exhaust, airbox mod, and geared.
put down 168 hp on the dyno

forgot pic

...

...

...

Yeah... Mine did all those things. And it ran hotter than any bike I've seen. Melted my mx pants once.

Nice paint m8 pretty badass

one could say im about the bike life

What's the difference in between a zx-6r and a ninja 650?

zx6r has an inline 4 engine, which makes way more power.
650r is a twin

Not sure if anyone else mentioned it but it might be better to buy a used one that you can tear up by dropping, skidding, etc
1st bike was a 99 CBR 600 fun as shit

Years in production. Roughly the same bike I believe. The zx 6r is the 600 ninja now.

Same as you basically
Started on a Gs500f '09
Then moved on to an '05 Zx6r 636
Shit is crazy quick and loves a wheelie

nice trips, also thanks.

I bought Honda CB500F for this season. It's a fucking beast. I love how wild this baby is. I'm so glad I didn't buy CBR.

not even close to the same bike. totally different engine, suspension and riding position.

might looks similar but not even close

Just bought pic related. First bike, any advice?

Only loosers put skulls on bike or buy clothes/helmets with skulls. You are calling a death. Only noob bikers wear skulls.

Should do ya well. Nice around town bike wouldnt go on any long road trips with it

Ahh okay thanks just thought I'd ask from a far view it looks alike but obviously internals are different.

Yahama SZR 660 4SU. No ABS, no pussy support, if you fuck it up your ass is dead.

Have a photo bros
That was my mates cbr1000

...

Currently riding a scooter that I bought for simplicity going to work.

Now i'm set up I might either go to bigger geared bikes and do my test. People have been saying to just jump up to 600's.
Then again I could just go to gears, stick to 125's and get a car license.

FZ8N here, fucking love riding but was recenty in an a collision, people just don't fucking look out for you. Can't wait to heal up so I can ride again

07 suzuki hayabusa with custom exhaust. Neighbors hate me.

Sad but true

more

Hi Op
I wouldn't go for this bike.
Driving position on a race bike is a pain in the ass (literally) specially in city environment.
A roadster is more comfortable, also you can adjust your trajectories which can be pretty useful.
Finally if you're not a speed demon, go for a 600cc, as you will get better brakes and also more horsepower to avoid dangers.
Good ride

tfw i was supposed to take my bike license two years ago and even paid 1,3k$ for it and still haven't gotten it because im a lazy fuck

bought a gs550 about a year ago, have been making it look better since. painted the engine, exhaustwrap, painted exhaust, polished the bike. still unsure wether its a good starting bike tho since its got 550cc and im getting my license in a few weeks

Why the Custom Ink sticker?

Currently have 3 motorcycles for all purposes, 2015 Ducati Scrambler full throttle, 2016 Husqvarna te300, and a 2012 Klr650. The Korea would be a great starter bike for anyone looking into commuting and long distance travel. The 2 stroke 300 is by far the scariest bike I have ever ridden, throttle wheelies through 4th gear lol. Pic of my Duc.

I started out on a ninja 250rr. I can honestly say it was an amazing bike to learn with and I sold it a 11 months later and only lost $300.

Me on my Husq next to my buddies '16 Beta 300

What the fuck are you doing nigger
The "don't start on anything above 200cc" is a meme to make you make a dumb purchase.
of course you're not supposed to go ham on the thing when you first buy it, but you're going to start hating it when you get passed by minivans.
They're so slow that they're dangerous.

>60

this is the engine right now, took me quite some work but it was worth it

Mine, suz bandit 600s

It adds like 8 horsepower.

I have a big scooter for the storage b/c I'll be using it to commute daily. SYM RV250
You guys have nice sportbikes!
But I wanted something super useful for carrying a passenger and my groceries, etc.

The octopus? Cause it was free, and fits in that spot

you will probably get bored of 125cc after a week, i also find it bad if you can't accelerate away from harms way. you can also look in to a vtwin, great forgivable bike, i started on a er6n 650cc vtwin if you aren't a edgy teen and respect it it works fine. don't know about the abs or no abs part

I ride an 06 Gixxer 600, I ride because it's so freeing and extremely fun

I ride a 2005 kawasaki z750s
love it

nice
