blacks are losing interest in baseball even faster than whites, it's just not cool to play anymore.

There are some good black pitchers in the minor leagues. There's a whole wave of them coming, probably over the next few years.
Amir Garrett is the next big one.

Chapman is black you retard. Just because you're from Latin America or the Caribbean doesn't mean you aren't black. Do you think they have to be born in Africa or something?

Riddle me this. What does he check off his ethnicity when applying for a job?

With regard to spring sports you have baseball and you have track & field. Now think about that for a moment, football and basketball star black athlete can go play baseball OR he can run some sprinting event like the 100 or 4x4. This obviously isn't the entire story but you can see a connection, no?

I miss D-Train :(

black spics dont count, jesse jackson will tell you so

i think his point is that there are a low number of black pitchers, not baseball players
there are a lot of black baseball players

Nothing because he's a baseball player not a stocker at Wal-Mart

In 1975, 19% of MLB players were African-American

In 2013, 7.8% of MLB players were African-American

The number of black Americans playing baseball is definitely declining.

yeah, and it's because of the reason you stated earlier, basketball is just easier for poor kids to play and it's more popular among them too
i'm just clarifying OP's point

> implying there arnt tax forms to fill out for mlb players.
Stupid goy enjoy being a neet.

Because baseball takes a whole lot longer to make the pros and get paid.

Much easier to use the giga nigga athletics to get drafted right to the pros after 1/3 years of college apehoop/handegg than spend a possible unknown number of years in the minors

Hmm nah it's probably white people's fault somehow

Even less black catchers. These two positions have too much responsibility and thought required. The feeble negro brain can only process so much.

That was my first post, but yeah. There's a definite argument, especially for older days, that soccer and basketball succeeded in impoverished areas due to the low cost of entry to play.

But there's also a lot of evidence that it's actually primarily middle-class children that succeed at the highest level. The general theory is they have access to better nutrition and training as they grow up.

One of the general concerns I've read reading about baseball is that in many areas, high stakes traveling baseball clubs are pricing out even middle class parents. Plus, helicopter parents are pushing their kids more and more into travel leagues which cause further strain.

>Ismael Gonzalez, who manages the Miami-based 9-and-under team MVP Juniors Elite, said his team travels throughout the Southeast, playing more than 100 games a year and practicing two or three days a week. “These kids work like machines,” he said. “This is not just for fun. This is their lifestyle.”

>But the cost of that lifestyle—thousands of dollars a year in many cases—puts it out of reach for many parents. It skews heavily white: A 15-year study of travel teams by Nebraska researcher David Ogden found that only 3% of players are black. And its popularity has made baseball more of a niche sport, precisely what MLB wants to avoid at the spectator level.

While a lot of the Sup Forums types might say "who cares" the reality is that it's driving out a lot of potentially awesome white players too. Declining youth participation is not good for baseball.

Salvador Perez is black.

while this does sound pretty black

>" He was abandoned by his father at age four and raised by his mother, Yilda Diaz"

he's definitely a tropical mexican

come again?

I think the fact of the matter is that, ultimately, upper class, more affluent kids (who are, more often than not, white) will always have an advantage in becoming good at any given sport due to the increased amount of resources they have available. However, it's more evident in sports like hockey, golf, etc. because of the barriers to entry and all the available resources. The more resources and barriers to entry, the more that more affluent people will always have an advantage.

There be a race war a brewin'

Teheran is Hispanic

Same guy from other post

Forgot to add that genetics is also factor, and an advantage for certain kids, so with sports like basketball that have low barriers to entry and limited available resources, the advantage of genetics often outweighs that of an affluent family

But then again, you have to have a certain level of good genetics to begin with to even contend at the professional level

The absolute real reason for the decline of the black atha-leet in baseball is a simple one. For us Americans, think back to your childhood. Whom did you first play baseball with?

Did you answer 'your Father'? Most black kids don't have live-in fathers. This is statistical fact.

Black people just don't like baseball, it's slow as fuck and you can't dunk on someone.

They should love it because it encourages stealing

Basebore still exists?

Nah its just that there are barely any black super stars in Baseball these days like there used to be. They are just getting out shined and thinned out by Baseball actually being one of if not the most diverse sport in the world and other races are actually providing extremely talented players. Most of the black superstars are playing Basketball and Football, kids grow up thinking they are awesome and go with the sports they played.

Who is Pedro Martinez? Who is Felix Hernandez?

Hector Neris

also baseball has become a rich white snob sport.Back in the early 1900s all you had to do was hit a ball of leather with a stick until someone saw you and said "hey wanna get 10 dollars a game for that?"

Now there is no such thing as "raw talent".These players aren't coming out of no where. From ages 5 up to now they were placed in special leagues and camps that cost TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars. From toddlers up until they were brought to the majors they were told they were the best at what they did because all of that expensive training daddy bought them.

Basketball has training and camps but those are usually free invitationals for kids that are already good or very inexpensive for learners. Also, a basketball costs 25 dollars and public courts are everywhere.A bat costs 100 dollars at least, a glove definitely over 120 dollars if you're serious about the sport and along with added accessories comes to about $500+ just with necessities.

Many blacks are not economically well off so spending this type of money for your child even try to make it into probably the hardest league to get into, isn't ideal.
