>First it was the requirement for IMSA teams to remove the manufacturer-specific bodywork from their 2017 Daytona Prototype international models in order to compete in future runnings of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Then it was the requirement to strip those DPis of the manufacturer-specific electronics in favor of the spec systems that will be used on the 2017 WEC P2s. >And now, with only one unique aspect left to take from DPis – the manufacturer-specific engines that will power IMSA's premier cars – the ACO is said to have informed its American counterparts on Thursday those motors must be left behind if its teams wish to race at Le Mans.
>He's lost a fair bit of his lower face, jaw and all his bottom teeth, but he has no permanent injuries," Morris said. "His brain's intact, his spine's intact, so he's got a long road ahead of him. Hopefully we'll get him out of here in the next couple of weeks, get him stabilized and get back to Australia and get his head rebuilt, and he'll be brand-new.
>Mingay required reconstructive surgery to insert a prosthetic chin to rebuild his jaw and mouth region. His family reports that Mingay suffered facial and head injuries in the accident, along with a small fracture of his T1 vertebrae, and he continues to make progress in his recovery. In a statement released by the trucks series, the family indicated they remain hopeful that he will be released from hospital in the coming days so he can travel home to Australia to continue his recovery.

CURBS WERE CUTTING TIRES >GP2 qualifying, scheduled for between F1 practice sessions on Friday, was postponed so FIA race director Charlie Whiting could assess the quality of the curbs. >Isola said Pirelli had noted cuts in many cars' tires during the morning. >"We found on most of the tires used in the last part of FP1 there were cuts on the left-rear, all the cuts were in a certain position so more or less all the same," he said. I can say 90 percent of the cars had cuts so it was quite a good indication that something had to be investigated. Charlie found a couple of turns where some small bolts came out, so they fixed it but they had to postpone GP2 qualifying. I think they are going to work tonight to have a final solution on that. >"In FP2 we checked the tires and we didn't find anything, so everything is OK now."

Did Michelotto tell all teams running 488 GTEs to hide their true potential?
I know the Ford teams were purposefully shifting to their highest gears when they didnt need to throughout the TUSC and WEC season
Basically, ACO wants DPi to compete in LMP1-Privateer because P1 is for manufacturers while P2 is an ">>>amateur" class. Also they wouldn't be allowed to run a single manufacturer referenced vehicle because lol LMP1-P rules they just made up. So the Mazda prototype would have to reference the chassis constructor, it'd be a Riley/Mazda.
They don't intend to slow down the LMP1-Ps so who knows if it would even be cost-effective to modify the DPi to LMP1 speed. Throw in the fucking active aero they plan on implementing in 2018 and everything from the French seems to be one big fuck you to IMSA cars racing in Le Mans. The biggest sticking point with IMSA/ACO seems to be that IMSA teams don't want to run spec Cosworth electronics which was stated early on before the ACO started to pull back from their initial welcoming.

Ferrari's best race lap was 1st faster than the next manufacturer at Silverstone and 1.5s faster than anyone else at Spa, so not really. Ferrari gets mediocre BoP in IMSA usually because they only have one full time semi-factory car while in WEC they're the only decent full time factory team at this point (AM is there but they spend no money, complain really loudly, and threaten to quit all the time)
Haven't run against factory Porsches and Corvettes in WEC until this race so nobody knew where they really stood under FIA/ACO BoP. They definitely sandbagged test day though.
Isaiah Fisher
I'd give em the decker :^)
Christian Cox
>for some reason no one in the media could read and kept saying Corvette got back the 0.3mm that was taken away after the test day when it was only 0.2mm For the record they are still running slowed down from base spec. So are the Porsches. Astons have a 60 fucking kilo weight break but also a smaller restrictor, and I don't know what the base turbo boost values are supposed to be yet.

It's not even a homologation special, that would require actually building the street cars.
Of course. These three 24h endurance races, including Spa next month are the highlights of the racing year I reckon.
Joseph Morris
Oh and the Isle of Mann TT last week. Insane racing.

Where's the stream getting it's source? I'm thinking about paying for the FIA stream from members.fiawec.com/addRace Is it worth it? If I pay for it and someone can suggest a free place to stream it that won't take me down before the race ends, I'll gladly stream as high quality as possible and share it anonymous-753512721 6:51 AMlast couple of years we had SO many more streams, from multiple sources, and we had problems at one point with one of the streams so I want to give us more options for full race coverage and help out other cheap bastards.
