Anyone here in the army?

anyone here in the army?
i want to join but i can only do 30 pushups/situps and can only run a half mile right now and it takes me around 4:30 to do that. and bct seems fun in some parts but being yelled at and smoked seems god awful, how bad is basic and do i have a chance?

As far as push ups and sit ups go, try this.

>4 sets of 25 pushups/situps a day until you can knock each set out perfectly
>3 sets of 33 pushups/situps a day until you can knock out each set out perfectly
>2 sets of 50 until you can knock out each set perfectly
From there shoot for 100 reps straight and double the ammount you fell short of 100 for your second set
Example: you complete 70 reps straight. your second set will be 60 reps.

As far as running goes, get your ass outside on a track or something and run. The more you do it the less it sucks

Best of luck

It's the most fun you wish you never had. It's more of a mental game than anything, they do everything for a reason and if you can keep your head in the right place you'll do fine. It's nothing to fear or worry about. It's the guys that think their tough and better than everyone that have the toughest time, DS makes damn sure of that.

This. If you aren't a jackass they'll take care of getting you in shape and all that.

as far as push ups and sit ups am i ok? to get in tge army you have to ve able to do 13 push ups, 17 situps and run a 8:30 mile. so far i cant do the mile yet which is pathetic i guess

thanks will do this

You should see picture's of cute girls who are in the Army. Just think, if they did it,.. Well the physical standard for men is higher, so I would really focus on proper form (90 degree elbow on each push up).

In BCT, the yelling will always be there. People will feel shittiy for being yelled at or even when everyone get yelled at as a group. Just know, there is no way around it. If you don't mess up, they will find a reason to make you drop. That's their job! So it won't be as bad if you just kind of understand that everything that happens in basic was pretty much planned out.

Just look like you give a shit at the VERY least, and as long as you don't give up and are trying to do your best, there's no way you wouldn't make it. It is mostly mental. Physical of course, but people don't always realize how simple it is to get in shape.

Rumor has it they won't let you enlist if your ASVAB score is above a 25 overall

Doesn't matter. If that's where you're at then that's where you're at. They'll straighten you out and get you in shape, that's the point of BCT.

I could also use some advice, navy or air force? Also what should i expect running wise from basing training, what will be the longest distance i would have to run?

got this score in the asvab but i can barely do pushups(1-2) :-(

Those are almost polar opposites. Depends on what YOU want to do.

How so? what would the typical job for each branch detail?

They both have great technical fields and are not as physically demanding as Army. Navy has the best IT programs.

Every branch has a wide variety. Army is good about getting you the job you want though. Navy has a good IT program. Air Force sets you up with good careers too such as air traffic controlling and such. Army has good engineering and offers a lot of airborne units if you like too jump out of airplanes.

Basic WILL get you in shape & 100% won't be the weakest guy there. Plus no one really gives a shit. Before you know it, you'll taking your little boot selfies & putting them on fcebook with your ugly bald head like the rest of them. You'll make a lot of money in basic (mostly cause you can't spend shit) & you'll have a lot of fun shooting shit & blowing stuff up. It really only gets shitty if you do Basic at Ft. Benning. The weather sucks & every Drill Sergeant is a glorified Ranger/Former SF fag (they aren't) so they make shit real miserable. I prefer it this way, so I'd go back to Benning if I could, but for someone who seems unsure, I wouldn't recommend any MOS that place has to offer you at an entry level.

Paralegal is entry level. They make bank in the civilian world.

Paralegal does basic in benning? Or am I missing your point?

I wouldn't join the military at all. You're basically fighting for the jew cucks who start these wars.

One more question if your still here, from the time i see the recruiter what will the time period look like for me to be sent off to basic training and also to be deployed after basic training?

How the fuck is your gt score so low private

Do pushups until you get smarter

Begin

No worse than working for a corporation that benefits from the wars. At least in the military you can work outside sometimes.

yes sir! but also, should i just say fuck it and join? i only need a letter from a doctor that gave me adhd medicine, i haven't called back my recruiter in a while, will he still reply?

So in 2014, I walked into a recruiters office. I only wanted SF & it took them a year to offer it to me though they offered me Ranger/Infantry, Parachute rigger the entirety of the wait. I signed last August & shipped last October. I was in an OSUT instead of BCT so my training was 16 weeks, completed Feb 12th. From there everyone infantry got orders to wherever the fuck, (all SF recruits are just training for 2 years to come). If they happened to get sent somewhere ready to deploy, they have to train with their new unit first which is another month. Best case, if any of them wanted to deploy, starting from joining in October last year they wouldn't have deployed until like a month ago. As far as I know, none of them have deployed. They went to Alaska, Hawaii, Colorado & Germany

You'll be in the front-leaning rest position most of the time you're in Basic. Work out the rest of your body too though. V-ups, laps, etc.

You're going to understand what it means to "get smoked." That is, unless you go to Fort Jackson.

Fuck the rest of these NEETs, corpsman going to pharmacy tech school at Ft Sam here. This is a joint base so I've been all around the army and the air force.

The army is great if you like being treated like a subhuman even after basic and are also dumb as shit. The army in my class right now is struggling with fractions.

Air Force seems alright, but they take military bearing way too seriously and are a bit too strict for me, but not nearly as bad as the army. Do not join the fucking army.

Just be smart and go navy, basic will kinda suck but literally as soon as you get to your first command (a school) you're free. Navy is the way to go. Just don't be a hull technician.

Will post proof in a second

173rd ABCT infantry here just got out last month after 6 years one 9 month deployment,

It's not hard. The only issue is how mentally weak kids under 23 are today. I see them at my current job drop like flys because they can't handle any work ethic.

I don't know how basic is today either but I can only assume it's easier, but it also depends on your DSs. Asshole ones will make it worse but I guess you won't know until your second week there. My LAST PT Test in February was 2 mile was 11:58, push-ups was 67 sit-ups was 70.

You're going to lose weight at basic I think I lost 11lbs. It's all cardio.. I don't know what MOS you're going into but i wouldn't sweat it.

DO YOUR TIME

DON'T REENLIST

GET OUT

USE THE POST 9/11 GI BILL

You're welcome.
Don't stay in like shitty NCOs will tell you. They are losers with no goals. Trust me man.

Best advice is Finish College, get your 4 Year Degree/Bachelor's and then go in to the Army as an Officer and not Enlisted.
More perks, money, and less BS.
Also read all the fine print on your contract and ask as many questions as you can.
Don't worry about the APFT standards, basic training will get you in shape trust me.

There's actually some truth to this. Some people will try to hold you back. Your best friends are the supply guy and the retention officer. Take some college classes if you find yourself with free time like after deployment, it's free while you're in. Set yourself up so you can get a nice paying job and get out ASAP.

Do 20 pushups and 20 sit ups once every hour. Do this for a month then give yourself a mock PT test. Thank me later, faggot

i am also thinking to join the army but im already 22 and have a lot of shit to do. is it to late to join? and if no when is it?

Just saying.

Army. I was 22 when I joined. Average age in my platoon was 24. Most had degrees, wives. Youngest in my platoon was 20. No one cares. Army isn't a young man's game anymore

Seen a 30 year old man in basic. You will have time to do shit in the army depending on your unit and MOS. Get a soft skill and join an infantry unit and you will literally do nothing all day (unless you're chemical, supply or human resources).

...

...

Next time you run set a goal then go past it.

Any advice to someone who is gonna join the navy soon?

This has to be my favorite quote from any politician ever

Have you picked your rate at MEPS yet?

Hope you picked a job out of the challenge progam or Seabees. If not, a shitty boat

>challenge program

What the fuck is that and why would anyone want to be CB besides getting to wear type 3s

I'd go CB for a shot at shore duty. Fuck a boat 100% Challenge Program is SO, SB, Diver, Rescue, EOD

someone pls reply ;_;

Or just be a corpsman and get a c school and never see a boat. I guess I lucked out. And this guy is not spec war material, read the OP.

That's...no where near correct. You have to at least score 35 to get in.

You seem pretty dumb and you told your recruiter that you were prescribed Ritalin, so you'd fit right into the army. Go for it man!

Are there any good asvab practice tests out there?

no i said i took concerta, but i can't find the doctor that prescribed me that medicine. what do? do i get the letter from another doctor?

I've seen people get Rescue with barely better scores than his. & he's probably white, so he can swim good. He'll go to 800's in Great Lakes & get in great shape. Ba da boom

Did 3 years in the Army back in the mid 80s

Honestly, Basic and AIT are the easy part and kinda fun, looking back on it. There were so many things I did that I never thought I could do.

Just keep working out till you go and once you get there keep your head down and your mouth shut. Pay attention to detail and do what you are told. Remember, the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask.

Pic related:
Me c1984 at Ft Carson

Just join the Navy and don't mention any complications. We could always use another CS or HT

You have a chance. Army fag here, 68w. I joined straight out of highschool and couldn't do shit, my recruiter lied to get me in and I got fucked up in basic. Basic is you getting yelled at for everything and for everyone's mistakes, pretty fun though once you realize everyone is going to fuck up all the time and you'll have to do stupid shit like a 24hr guard of the floor buffer because someone lost their canteen cup...

Dope dorito patch, how is Germany?

Aim high I guess. The way you described it makes it sound like anyone could do this shit. Besides, all the BUDS studs at corps school said 800 divisions weren't shit anyway. But hey.

Did you go to AIT at ft sam, soldier medic?

No Germany for this guy, ft bliss Texas, Biggs army airfield. Deployed to Iraq for a year 09/10

Out of all the branches in the army, the navy has to have the ugliest looking uniforms

I sure did lol. Foxtrot was my company and we had the worst drill sergeants

thanks man lol awesome picture

Any advice for someone fresh out of highschool who wants to be a corpsman in the Navy?

I say it that way because I've seen it myself. This shit gets talked up so damn much. I mean, BUD/s is no fucking joke, but all the other schools are the same length without the same bruising & you get to do way cooler shit. There were guys in my platoon in the Army who "weaker" & recommended to drop their SF contracts that made it through the selection process. Most Rescue in the Navy I've met were 120 soaking wet. Some kids in high school or college, nothing else special about them.

I wasn't in the Navy but do it if that's what you want to do. Do it. Same team but everyone makes fun of the other branches.

I went Navy, and so far it had been great. I am a Logistics Specialist, and loved that job. The physical requirements are not very difficult and there are a lot of different jobs to pick from. The bases are really nice in the airforce but you see more of the world in the Navy. Go with the Air community if you don't want to live on the boat full time. They mostly deploy with ships but at least when you are not deployed you usually live in the barracks. It's a good time.

Some kids who were swimmers in high school or college*

It's funny, a lot of the soldier's here say they think our uniforms look the best. Personally I like our type 3s best

"Fucking Foxtrot" is still keeping it real down here.

Just score 65+ on your ASVAB and wait around for corpsman to pop up. Basic starts out fucking awful and gets better every week. Good luck.

Yeah you're right. I guess I just tend to lump all the spec war programs together because that's how they do it here for SOCP

HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU ONLY DO 1-2?? HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE??? HAVE YOU NEVER USED YOUR ARMS IN YOUR LIFE? DID YOU MOTHER SPOON FEED YOU YOUR ENTIRE LIFE???? OR DO YOU WEIGH MORE THAN A SEMI YOU FAT FUCKING FAILURE! LEAVE MY GODDAMN ARMY WE DONT WANT YOU WE DONT NEED YOU

I went in as 11B Infantry in 2006. Honestly, I wish I had known better and did something more productive with my 17-20 youth.

#1 - You're going to become a robot that hurries from one location just to wait until you get more orders. You don't even get called by your name in boot camp, we were just numbers. I was number 114 and bunked under a fat fuck.

#2 - The pay sucks. I mean, it's really fucking bad. To put this into perspective, you'll make $1,500 a month starting out as an E1 (maybe it's closer to 1,600 now, I'm not looking it up). That means, your salary being a soldier is less than 20 thousand fucking dollars.

#3 - It's honestly just like living inside a Jackass movie. People throwing things at each other's balls, people acting like dipshits, etc. It's honestly amazing how stupid the majority of people you meet in Boot Camp are. Not that your unit's leadership will be any better, a lot of your officers will be on the slow side.

I mean, if you're really deadset on the military, go for it. Just remember, you work 60 hour weeks for 20 grand a year and you're a human piece of filth. You're treated like the lowest form of life when you're in the military. The nicest thing I ever got out of the military wasn't the benefits (which are shit and hard to claim by the way), it was probably free meals at airports from random passengers who saw I was military.

TLDR - Don't do it and find something more productive to do that'll build onto something great.

Hell yea my nigga!

Oh and most importantly... most of what you learn in boot is fucking useless. Your unit will quickly remind you to forget most of what you learned in boot. You are the FNG. Everyone hates the FNG.

Going 11bang bang is always useless unless you stay in forever, no job outside of military were you get paid to go around killing people.

65+ huh, fuck. I only scored a 56 but I planned on taking it again before going up to an office. I can do everything on the test just fine except for the electricity wires and appliances part.

I enlisted in the Air Force with an open electronics contract but I'm getting cold feet about it (ship date is in july). I'm 21 for what its worth. I'm not sure what I wanna do anymore, what do?

save your advice, they never listen. they never listen.

That's not true. You can always practice medicine or become an executive for a cigarette company. Great money in both options and you get to kill people.

If you're 18 then no that's wrong . I'm not sure what it is if you're a femanon but for me I need 54 pushup 45 situps and two miles in 15:54
(I may have the push ups and sit ups backwards )

Just become depressed and say you're suicidal. You'll get a General Discharge more than likely. It happens more often than you think.

For Army, just study Word Knowledge Paragraph Comp & Arithmetic reasoning. These three make up your "GT Score" Gt is the most important & counted into every other line score. Essentially, high GT = High almost everything else

...

>the prison experience.

Pretty much. With more gay shit.

thanks for the help asshole, im just trying to improve myself

kek

what about marines?

its all the same

Anyone have experience as an Airborne Mission Systems Apprentice for the Air Force?

Part of me still thinks joining would be a good idea, but I also have a solid way out being that both my grandparents just died.

It isn't the same.

The most dangerous weapon in the world is a Marine with his rifle.

A Marine can land a plane on a post-it note in the middle of the ocean during a storm...on a Sunday.

On a good day, a Marine can take out an enemy plane with nothing more than a sniper rifle. On a bad day, an enemy tank.

I could go on, but you get the idea.

Sounds like general Marine recruitment center banter

MARINES KNOW HOW TO USE A BAYONET! ARMY BAYONETS MIGHT AS WELL BE PAPER-WEIGHTS!!

kek, but seriously what about the marines, compared to the other branches?

>worst duty stations
>worst equipment
>worst pay
>worst prospects for rank advancement
>literally no marketable skills for civilian transitioning
>first to fight and get PTSD

NEEEERRRRRRD!!! NEEERRRRRRRRRRRRD!

The Army has a retarded, fucked up view on PT and height/weight standards. Just work out, eat right, and the PT test will be cake

Old iron sides is in my hometown muskegon

Go Navy instead. Keep your dick out of the dirt and use your brain instead of your back.

>Be me
>literally yesterday
>At MEPS
>Everything is going fine, a little fat but I passed everything, or so I thought
>Finish up my physical, sign out of medical, go to my Army Liaison to finally enlist
>"Sorry user, you didn't pass the TAPAS, a shame because you got 85 on your ASVAB"

Since I have a GED I had to pass the TAPAS. I was fine on "Adaptability" and "Can Do" but I got a 60 on "Will Do" where I needed to get a 90. Now I have to wait 30 days to take it again.

The TAPAS is so fucking gay.

>GT below 110

I bet your recruiter told you you're qualified for everything

k
