Top 5 ever?
Other urls found in this thread:
that ain't Jamie Vardy
not even top 5 when he played
like, top 5 defender?
n
yes
No, but top 5 CB of the 00-10 era
Maybe top 20
Baresi
Ferdinand
Terry
Beckenbauer
Maldini
Nesta
Cannavaro
Campbell
>Terry
>Campbell
>Ferdinand
no, im sure there were 5 italians better than him, probably more
what on earth would make you think that?
I'd say he is maybe among the thirty best centre backs ever, in the 21st - 30th range. Lacked the height and the ball-handling to be one of the very best. He also was a bit of a late bloomer.
Top 5 ever? absolutely not, maybe last 10 years
not even top 20
messi did that to boateng, who gives a shit?
Maybe if Italy didn't exist
Maldini
Nesta
Baresi
Scirea Cannavaro
everyone
in england we have central defenders to deal with target men. terry, vidic, campbell. in spain, they have defenders to deal with pacey, tricky forwards. who is a better spanish type central defender?
not even close to top10 defenders, but one of the great captains
Baresi
Ferdinand
Terry
Beckenbauer
Maldini
Nesta
Cannavaro
Campbell
Alexis Lalas
fixed
Injuries really fucked him, but he was quite reliable, decisive and won it all
In the entire history of the game? Not top 100
it's one on one, most defenders will be fucked like that. look at ronaldinho vs real madrid or diego milito vs bayern munich. you don't criticise a defender for that, you criticise the team for putting him in that position.
>1st dribble when he was 35 and after 3 knee surgeries
>2nd one when he was 21 and in his 2nd professional season
good one
Just for his CB abilities i dunno but he was a great leader, had tons of balls and was clutch as fuck.
Not even top 5 if you take out all the liberos like Beckenbauer and Baresi.
There seems to be an obsession lately with ranking the recent Barca/Spain players as GOATs for their position, when they're just a very good collective playing a style of football perfectly suited to their skills rather than being outstanding individual talents.
Baresi, Scirea, Nesta... and? Fabio 'no serie a, champion league or euro' cannavaro? or Paolo 'no world cup or euro' maldini?
no. terry was better
being twisted by a dribble and failing on your ass is humiliating and quite memorable. I for sure will remember that play every time someone mentions Boateng.
Maldini
Baresi
Beckenbauer
Scirea
Nesta
Facchetti
Ramos
Puyol
Cannavaro
Márquez
>humiliating
we're talking about how good he is as a central defender
you probably didn't see even cannavaro play
OFFICIAL GOAT CB's POWER RANKINGS
1. Bobby Moore
2. Franco Baresi
3. Franz Beckenbauer
4. Tony Adams
5. Paolo Maldini
6. John Terry
7. Alessandro Nesta
8. Rio Ferdinand
9. Gaetano Scirea
10. Sol Campbell
...
...
9001. Titus Bramble
9002. Sergio Ramos
Yes. Only couldn't shine as much as he should had because injuries never respected him
>Márquez
>Ramos
>Cannavaro
Well meme'd
>Baresi
>Terry
> moore
> beckenbauer
> pre 80's """""defending""""""
playing against part time plumbers with leather balls nd shiet wasnt that impressive
> tony who
> terry
> rio ferdinand
> campbell
> british """"humor""""
Cannavaro would never be mentioned in those GOAT discussions if it wasn't for one 7 game tournament. John Terry (and many many others) was a much better CB overall
what are those brits doing in the list
you mean pre-90s.
you could literally pass the ball to the gk to hand it anytime you where in trouble.
ancient football desu
Top 5 hairstyle of all time defiantly
>Terry
>top anything
lmao
>People here putting memeplayers like Terry in the list but not Puyol
I don't recognise spee
No defender after the year 2000 gets any credit. and all defenders before that are overrated. I don't know why but that's the way it is so it's impossible to compare different generations.
Also, defending as a team now is easier than it used to be but defending as an individual is tougher.
Pique, Vidic, Ferdinand, Terry, Carvalho, Godin, Ramos, Chiellini, Bonucci, Kompany, Hummels, Boateng, Silva will never be considered all time great defenders no matter what they do/did.
Top 5 of all time, from best to worst:
Baresi
Maldini
Nesta
Cannavaro
Boateng
So no, definetly no Puyol.
>All these Cannavaro mentions
He was overrated as fuck, only played 7 good games in his whole career.
you can find shit like that for every defender ever probably shit just hapens when you play 10-15 years
>Boateng
>BOATENG
>Márquez
La cagaste weon
>Top 5 of all time
>a fucking nigger
Yup, absolute best non-italian defender of all time
>Boateng
Cannavaro was no better than Boateng, Bonucci, Pique, Godin etc.
Boateng is not top 5 but Cannavaro does not belong there either
Top 5 in Spanish history.
Perhaps.
?? niggers cant play football? you know Pele, Eusebio, Henry, Etoo, Ronaldinho?
Lalas, A.
Yea. I don't know why spee has such a hard on for old hags 2bh
I think all 99% of people here remember are World Cups and CL finals.
It's laughable that people actually consider Cannavaro to be Nesta's/Maldini's/Baresi's equal because he had a good World Cup this one time.
Baresi
Ferdinand
Brooks
Beckenbauer
Maldini
Nesta
Cannavaro
Campbell
1. who?
4. who?
1. Paul McGrath
2. Paolo Maldini
3. Tony Adams
4. Franz Beckenbauer
5. John Terry
6. Franco Baresi
7. Jaap Stam
8. Bobby Moore
9. Daniel Passarella
10. Ronald Koeman
Also notice how he disappointed at Inter and Real. The only two times in his career when he didn't have the literal GOAT goalkeeper behind him.
It's no different than people ridiculously overrating zidane over one match against Brazil and just assuming he was some GOAT in 98 or juve because of that match
Iniesta > zudane
Good list
not top 5 but definitely top 10 IMO
Baresi
Koeman
Cannavaro
Maldini
Passarella
Nesta
Beckenbauer
Scirea
Puyol
Lúcio
Márquez
Márquez
Márquez
Márquez
Márquez
Márquez is GOAT
Baresi
Maldini
Nesta
Cannavaro
Stam
Casillas 2006-2008 was a brilliant, brilliant goalkeeper
He was brilliant (even until 2010/2011) but he was never quite like Buffon
KYS
hard to tell, you have to remember than until 2007 Real's defence was so abysmal he often had to make more saves during one game than Buffon with top-tier Juve defence in Serie A had to make in a month
Baresi
Maldini
Koeman
Valeny
Jaric
Juve's defence was hardly great in 2006-2011, remember that they also sold Thuram and Zambrotta after Calciopolli and were regularly starting players like Grygera, Legrotallie, De Ceglie and Zebina in defence
>Sup Forums memeing as usual
captain caveman is based
1. Baresi
2. Beckenbauer
3. Maldini
4. Moore
5. Passarella
6. Scirea
7. Ruggeri
8. Koeman
9. Blanc
10. Stam
Honorable mention: Walter "The Wall" Samuel
>Valeny
>not vornander
Good list
He's not even top 5 for the last decade
