What year
...
1921s
Every once in a while I'll buy a couple of those. Here's what I have saved up
Nice, how much do you have in weight?
Definitely cool, whoever paid with that is a jackass.
My prize possession is a Roman sesterti from 79 AD
Probably 5 pounds or so. Been at it for a long time.
>Anyone else collect coins?
Yes. I've had a collection for quite a long time.
I recently inherited a bunch of silver coins though, although not as much as shown here (). The best pieces I ended up getting were a crown from 1889 and a Franc from 1895.
I thought that too, the first few times it happened.. but I've probably bought a few hundred dollars in silver out of the till over the years..... for face value, of course!
I like the old silver dollars but my favorite part of my collection are coins with interesting animals on them. I have a few pages in a binder with maybe 60 foreign coins with cool animals.
Guys what is this? I thought it was a quarter
A 1 Dirham piece from Morocco.

Back side, I'm assuming this is the devil's coin. Has that star thing.
Oh, I see, thanks! Still tho, how did this coin travel 4000+ miles over here. I got it from like a corner store.
What about this...
Seems German. It says Berlin. I assume maybe pre-60s Bill.
The one on the left is a two franc not, but that's obvious.
The one in center is a German Reichsmark.

Some more interesting finds from the till at work..
careful sheckla ur on jewchan
flip 21x & tell me how many heads u get
Buffalo Nickel, nice. I have one from 1929, barely visible. snatched it out my till as well.
That buffalo is in near mint shape. I wouldn't be surprised if some dummy took it out of a case to buy whatever it is you sell at your shop
What's up with that gold Washington quarter?
That peso is worth 0.7 dollars annon...
It's from the 2010 new series.
the "2 pesos" coin with eva peron's face would be worth something.
Nice saves.
this sold at the US mint website last month for 205 bucks plus shipping (1/10 oz of gold, about 3.1 grams, 24 carats). a bit of a premium since spot (meaning if you melted the gold and sold it just for the price of the metal) would be about 120 bucks
but it's a pretty piece
there were 125,000 minted, and they sold out in 40 minutes on the US mint website! with lots of people unable to access the site to complete their order :(
there'll be one for the standing liberty quarter and for the walking liberty half later this year
I shit you not, that buffalo is in as close to mint condition of any coin I've ever found in circulation. Ran out of nickels in the till, and found this in the middle of the new roll.
As far as I can tell, a company was ordering uncirculated state quarters, as they were being minted, and anodized them for collectors five packs. Not worth much more than a quarter, but I've never seen one before.
I see. Didn't really figure it was worth much more than face value, but I'd never seen one before either
Let me guess some crackhead bought a mcdouble with this?
I've got a 1778 8 reale and 1783 2 reale at home. Also a few mercury dimes and silver Washington quarters. No pics of them on my phone tho.
Cigarettes, but you hit the nail on the crackhead.
I see that shit all the time they steal a "dollar" from their grandmas change bowl and off they go
That's sad.
I bought $30 face value of pre 64 coins (dimes and quarters) from a pot dealer once who had gotten them for a bag of weed...I paid $35 for them about 3 years ago....I still have them
I got a 1999 5 rupee coin out of a roll of quarters and bought it from the till because I liked the design. The edge stamping is a particularly nice touch, and it's thick so it's got a good heft to it. It's a nice flipping coin.
have some yen left from when I visited Japan.
>inb4 neckbeard weeb
I have that Nickle too, along with silver quarters and a bunch of foreign coins.
I miss being a cashier fam
Wow. People have no idea what they are essentially just giving away.
yeah silver was pretty high at that time, I honestly didn't know the value but I knew it was more than $35 that's a lot of what got me started collecting I guess after that big score
