Pretty decent taste of normie stuff.
shit taste
>that taste in black metal
>but only has the two most common dungeon synth albums
god damn, so close to amazing, still good shit though. You actually like dungeon synth or are those just some passive albums you enjoyed well enough?
good taste in popular shoegaze at least
That's some nice very nice taste.
Lunar Aurora - Seelenfeuer
Caladan Brood - Echos of Battle
Onoskelis - The Hecate Prophecies in Your Cold Throne
>You actually like dungeon synth or are those just some passive albums you enjoyed well enough
I think I listen to a lot of Dungeon Synth, and have listened to all the essentials, but I didn't feel the need to take up too many spots with albums that all sound similar to one another. Daoine Sidhe is another of my favorites and is really beautiful.
Russian Circles - Guidance, Geneva
Rowland S. Howard - Teenage Snuff Film, Pop Crimes
nouns - still bummed
GZA - Liquid Swords
Viktor Vaughn - Vaudeville Villain
Neurosis - Fires Within Fires
Boris - Akuma No Uta
Haruomi Hosono & Friends- Pacific

Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
Joe McPhee - Nation Time
Mariee Sioux - Faces in the Rocks
Yorkston, Thorne, Khan - Everything Sacred
Roy Montgomery - Temple IV
Labradford - Labradford
1/2 Japanese - 1/2 Gentlemen / Not Beasts
Flipper - Album: Generic Flipper
If you like Minutemen I always recommend any Parquet Courts record.
just wanted to let you know I'm taking inspiration from your chart. I like it a lot. Maybe try Deca - The Ocean
Nice job putting Fuzz on there twice. Consider Ty Segall, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Thee Oh Sees, Tobacco, Death From Above 1979, and Jay Reatard if you haven't
10 tracks deep in Human Performance and loving it thanks for the rec
oh shit thanks for pointing that out fixed it now
have listened to and enjoyed a bunch of Thee Oh Sees and King Gizzard (really love Quarters) but none of the others so I will check them out thanks dude, if you haven't heard it I would rec Gandalf - s/t
thank you dude
deca is super cool so far
+++GY!BE
++Set Fire to the Flames
++Have a Nice Life
+The Microphones
You're always great in my heart, user
+++A Place to Bury Strangers
Always love to find someone else who likes these guys

marvel at the shit-taste i had, represented by this chart from mid 2013
4/10
apply yourself
>the wall
>top 4
>foo fighters
>the suburbs
>rhcp
>some nights
>naked the the famous
>all this Sup Forumscore
c'mon man
never could get into disco inferno goes pop - any recs for someone trying to get into them? i like more traditional post-rock
nice emo tho
8.5/10
7/10
>pink floyd
at least you didn't pick the wall, i guess
6/10
you've gone a bit too broad
knife man is an average album with a few great tracks
points for we cool? and hotelier, points deducted for yeezus, earl, meallica and megadeath and the objectively worse joy division album. oh and mirdoi.
6/10
you've got some good pics with some incredibly shitty choices thrown in there (antocity exihibition, jane doe, the knife)
dude DRUGS lmao
8/10 tho
>You're always great in my heart, user
....AWWWWWWWW
you're welcom! thanks for the rec back
no problem, glad you like it
>7/10
I can accept that. Thanks for the rate, man
...
Don Caballero - Don Caballero 2
The For Carnation - Marshmallows
John Fahey - America
First time posting here
Dot Hacker - Inhibition
I like your taste user. Ataxia AWI is on there twice though.
Try:
>Deerhoof - The Magic
>Dot Hacker - Inhibition (if you haven't already)
>Flea - Helen Burns (if you haven't already)
>Screaming Headless Torsos - 1995 and 2005
>Defunkt - s/t
Be Forest - Earthbeat
Daniel Land & the Modern Painters - Love Songs for the Chemical Generation
Uncertain - æther: musick for moths
The Del-Byzanteens - Lies to Live By
...
is pentastar good? haven't checked it out because of shit reviews. i really like earth 2 and their later post-rock stuff is pretty good, too.
other than that 7/10
points for flood, e!e!, ttng, sigur ros and world's end girlfriend
minus points for rhcp, Sup Forumscore, am and kaiser chiefs
need to list more
try to listen a bit more widely than the Sup Forumscore lists - they're good as a starting point but there's a lot better out there in most cases (although loveless and souvlaki are a couple of the best shoegaze albums out there).
try full of hell, sleep, and some boris albums (boris are really hit and miss - check out akuma no uta and pink first and then if you like those heavy rocks (the 2002 version) and flood)
need more info/10
maybe you'd be more at home in a /classical/ thread
i know one of these composers/10
3/10
you lose points for having lots of the same artist or groups of artists (you should listen more widely) and having many bands listed that are only okay.
since you have divorce lawyers and sorry i am going to suggest ITAOTS (even though it's a meme and kinda unoriginal) and the glow pt 2. maybe try some bonnie prince billy because similar artists or fugazi because you seem to kinda like post-hardcore.
3/10
>tfw no one has r8d your chart yet
>posting the wrong you division album
>placebo
>salem
on the other-hand
>i hate myself
>dirty three
>holy mountain
>dopethrone
>souvlaki
>carissa's wierd
nice
if you haven't checked out nick cave & the bad seeds, two of the three guys from dirty three are in it. i'd recommend push the sky away, not their best album but you can really hear the dirty three guys on those tracks. also pg.99 or saetia since you like i hate myself, maybe joie de virve (the north end) since i hate myself + carissa's wierd.
7.5/10
whats wrong with the wall?
sure it wasn't the best album but I mean it had its moments
comfortably numb was pretty cool
also wish you were here is one of pink floyds most prized songs because it remembers syd
idk, just a pink floyd fan myself
...
I really love Earth 2 and their post-rock albums (especially the two "Angels of Darkness..." albums), and I think Pentastar is their best output. In my opinion, anyone who enjoys Earth 2 would enjoy Pentastar as well. It might be a bit more riff-based though (which is something I am a sucker for).
Also
>points for Sup Forumscore albums
>minus points for Sup Forumscore
I don't quite get it, but thanks I guess.
Also which one's your chart? I'll try to give you some feedback.
-_-
where the fuck did this hate for pink floyd come from
you pretentious fucks
because pink floyd is popular, all of a sudden, ya fuckin hate it
well fuck yall
eh, yeah, wish you were here and animals are pretty good. dsotm is okay.
the wall is just angsty pretentious bullshit that was produced for purely money-grabbing reasons (lost their $$$ is the stock-market crash). "waaaaaah i hate my fans" "waaaaah why did my dad die." very self indulgent and not particularly good. the solo in comfortably numb is okay tho. but, yeah, listing the wall, wish you were here or dsotm will be met with derision here because they are a bit plebby. but also the wall is bad.
is flood Sup Forumscore? sigur ros? idk my reasoning and my recs are only at a 3/10
i am edgy fourteen year old/10
check out melvins, akuma no uta, at the drive-in, you might like the drones (wait by the river long...).
seriously
this chart is bad
>greatest hits album
>slipknot
oh and the melvins albums to listen to would be stoner witch and houdini first
maybe also mudhoney and violent soho (hungry ghost is their best album)
pink floyd's good but after listening to it/hearing the same circle-jerk about it for the 400th time, it gets a bit boring. they're good but also kinda plebby at the same time. also the wall is shit.
:~)
...
also joy* division.
but seriously, closer is so much better and ALSO is not a hot topic t-shirt (perhaps the most important quality to look for in music)
souvlaki, this will destroy you, bon iver, sorry (patron saint of burning bridges), divorce lawyers, the glow pt. 2
was about to give you a low rating but then i noticed magnolia electric co.
shut the fuck up god damn, I don't care if some fucking store sells a t shirt of my favorite album, poser.
>calls someone else a poser
>fav album is unknown pleasures
Also at least I'm making recs and r8ing
Flood, Àgætis Byrjun, What It Takes To Move Forward all used to be on the essentials chart, the first 2 I think are still on there. Sigur Rós used to be some of the top Sup Forumscore. World's End Girlfriend and TTNG I'd say too would be considered entry level to their genre (still bloody good both of them, so I don't really care).
You might enjoy:
>Barn Owl - Lost in the Glare
Quite similar to Flood in the style, but not at all similar in the execution.
>Year of No Light - Ausserwelt
A cool combination of Sludge and Post-Metal with a bit of Shoegaze thrown in, a bit similar to Sunbather.
I also have a feeling you might enjoy Brand New (start with TDAGARIM), if you haven't already tried them out.
Dude you're going on about "wahhh I can't like unknown pleasures because hot topic sells the t shirt, I can't like it now" it's so fucking embarrassing and I actually prefer unknown pleasures over closer. You have basic Sup Forums taste, you shouldn't be giving a seasoned music fan recommendations like nick cave and the bad seeds and being like, "you'd probably like this band". Nahhhhhhhhhh, really? As if I'd never heard of nick cave and the bad seeds. Dude your recommendations are fucking weak, you don't even recognize anything on my chart besides basic Sup Forums shit. I realize you're just trying to be cool and fit in, even though you only recognize basic shit and recommend basic shit.
Yeah, Brand New are pretty good tho I've only really listened to Daisy and Devil and God. Will check out the others, cheers.
And, yeah, Sigur Ros were Sup Forumscore a while back but they've kinda lost that status. Maybe I shouldn't give a shit about things like that when rating ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
lol
>realizing your sense of musical wonder peaked when you were first getting into avant stuff and your favorites will always be on that impotent threshold between pop and genius
>chekhov is still your favorite playwright
>going to noise shows in a jimmy buffet shirt
listen to nadja
Fuck yeah
+Bartok, low, duster, spk, grouper, screw, etc.
I assume you've heard massacre?
>Trying this hard
look for more post-rock, try Oiseaux-Tempête, Tortoise, Grails etc..
for more Indie Rock, look Pavement, Pinebender, Modest Mouse, Alvvays, VARSITY, Bright Eyes..
are you 14 ?
love your chart (early placebo is top notch), very doomesque, try Les Discrets, Bluetile Lounge, Tommy Wright III, OAKE, and also Heroin
would love recs.
Yeah I'm sorry for being one of the few people who take listening to and appreciating music seriously and not just some cute hobby fashion accessory.
But I did say you'll def know Nick Cave and if you like them then it was a good recommendation. As for only knowing a portion, no shit. I can only make recs on what I know, that's why I told the neoclassical poster they'd be better off in a classical thread.
As for taking the Hot Topic comment seriously, lol.
But Unknown Pleasures is ok (only ok) and is vastly ecliosed by Closer.
Also like you did not r8 or rec anyone so lol fuck off
>being this pretentious
>not understanding obvious sarcasm
Will rec and r8 more in a bit pals
sad reacts only, also anyone know any good skramz bands? aside from orchid
listen to the melvins, fugazi and the Jesus lizard, if you like all that try metz
try the appleseed cast
>not understanding how sarcasm works
guys stop fighting your scaring the kids
>But Unknown Pleasures is ok (only ok) and is vastly ecliosed by Closer.
You act like your opinion is arguable, this is sad..
>massacre
the metal band? I know massacra, they're good death thrash. I don't think I know what you're talking about though.
You can't be this high and mighty when you make no recommendations, dude
You too the Hot Topic bit srsly tho lol

Thanks for the Lies To Live By rec man this shit is incredible!
Criminally underrated album. I don't get why it's almost never mentioned in post-punk/no wave threads. Amazing blend of funk, no wave and post-punk, I always try to rec it to people who enjoy RiL or something similar.
I always forget, anyone have recs?
+Kendrick
+++QOTSA I love listening to LC then going back to to era vulgaris, you can hear so much of what would become LC in their earlier work.
Also would rec Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever to Tell. Surprised YYY doesn't get more discussion around here, especially with how prominent some of Karen O's collab work is.
Try joie de vivre. Maybe I'm partial to them as an Illinoisfag, but they share some common threads with Mineral and American Football.
I like you
