God tier music thread
Fuck dream theater
They have some of the corniest songwriting I've ever heard my god
This/10
Opeth > DT
...
youtube.com
That's not controversial at all
in your dreams
Listening to this right now.
...
...
extremely talented musicianship, but boring as twatting fuck
...
Perfectly stated.
They can play their instruments undoubtedly, but they can't write songs worth a shit.
I've ovsessed highly over both bands.
Still a strong Opeth fan. DT wore off years ago.
I just want to walk through the locust gardens and meditate
>lotus*
holy fuck locust gardens would be horrifying
DT isn't very good now, what's your favorite opeth album? Maybe I'm not giving them the credit they deserve.
I think pull me under was the last good thing they wrote
and opeth's gone to shit since watershed, the worst thing is that good bands like katatonia are trying to do the same shiw now, their latest album is starting to sound like opeth before they became the wankfest they are now, pity
...
Classic
Everything up to and including Watershed. I don't like their new style.
...
...
Their vocalist makes me cringe, their vocalist should be like early Metallica's vocal style imo
...

Krime Story
>hope you speak Polish
>marked for death
mah nigga. Rollin' balls 10/10 would roll again
Every time I post my music on here, I either get ignored or called a troll.
IF YOU LOVE SOMETHING YOU DON'T QUIT.
So fuck you all. This is God-Tier music thread, and by God I'm going to post my God-Tier music whether you think I'm trolling or not.
this has been the only good album posted in either thread
I'll give it a shot, haven't heard them in a while. Check out haken if you haven't already heard of them, I think the order their music was released is a good order to listen. Aquarius>Visions>the mountain>Affinity
...
Dream Theater. More like Fag Carnival
>Inb4 muh drum tone
I agree it's annoying as fuck but once you get past that, it's the best Metallica album by far.
I didn't realize this was "My favorite Punk goes Pop album" thread
Only album from them I like, but it kicks ass
Opeth isn't very good now either. No more magic in their music.
Morningrise is best (growl) vocals. Fictitious, poetic type lyrics.
Orchid is most evil.
BWP best production quality and bass.
Lopez is a beast drummer. Ghost Reveries, Deliverance, Still life are all evry good. Lengthy tracks, but very musical in many parts.
I like Mikael too. Sings and plays the guitar. I like to picture him performing live in their heavier songs.. having to play guitar and basically scream simultaneously.
...
10/10 you cant go wrong with metallica
Agreed. They should have stopped when they were ahead.
Either you haven't heard most of these albums, or you're mistaking not your taste with bad. either way kill yourself
*crab walking intensifies*
>Dream Theater
>God Tier
>Controversial
There are three types of people in the world.
1. Those that recognize Dream Theater as God Tier.
2. Those that have never heard Dream Theater.
3. Those that can't recognize good music.
really awesome
Yes!
...
Honestly. A joke can only go so far.
...
I used to love Dream Theater to death when I was a teenager.
I look back now, the lyrics and themes are the cringiest shittiest self-important stuff around. The technical mechanics are a bit hit or miss, sometimes they're well-crafted and interesting, sometimes they just seem complicated for the sake of being complicated.
All that being said, Scenes From A Memory is probably their best album, if only because it's a cool story and of course it has "Home" in it.
Confirmation that women aren't wired for music. (They're okay for backup singers or whatnot.)
...
...
...
Nothing proprietary or original....
Jesus, finally I see someone on Sup Forums posting something related to Dream Theater, they're just fucking amazing
> guilty confession: I like A dramatic turn of events
...
Only good shit posted on here
>of course it has "Home" in it.
this.
Name a better album
>protip you cant
youtube.com
DT should have chosen Roddy or Priester as the new drummer.
My man. Here's me, anybody who disagrees can fight me
...
Good choice.
Dig the vocals and the guitar tone on this one
...
cocaine.
Anyone who posts in these threads doesn't listen to music because they like it, they just want to brag to random people online about how the music they listen to is more obscure and not well known that the person that posted before them. Why else would you feel the need to brag about your "God tier" music taste?
Agreed, Mangini is so generic and boring it hurts.
Or to, you know, share music you fucking retard.
...
Thanks mate, usa here so I don't have the bonus tracks unfortunately, absolutely my favorite album though.
...
The hypocrisy in this post hurts me
...
God tier album. Prove me wrong. Pro tip: you can't.
...
I know it's prob bait but you should still kys either way
MFW metalfags argue over which of their favorite incoherent, jarring, angry-at my-parents collections of what amounts to fresh, steaming elephant shit is best. (The Secret is: they all are equally shit)
Thanks. King Crimson is hella underrated.
Shpongle is awesome.
Dream Theater =/= musical virtuosity. Great starter band if you're a musician looking to play antiquated dynamic/progressive music. I'm not saying they're talentless by a longshot, but they're definitely a McDonalds of "omg complicated music" -- That being said, we had to go through John Petrucci's "Rock Discipline" book back in school. Learned some technique for the guitar.
DT is good but they would have been great if they had better songwriting.
You fucking ripped that off from the last thread you plagiarist.
No other Porcupine Tree fans here?
>2016
>not listening to based Tame Impala
It's like you fags don't even like music
I don't see it, point it out please
>tfw thats not what i said at all
Nice b8.
thats an awesome song m8y, the vocals were a reason why I liked it actually
You literally dont know anything about metal and you're only missing out because of it.
I'm very sorry for your loss.
>people come to this thread to share there music tastes with others, not to bash others tastes
>this band is shit and i know music
Both in the same post
Opeth has a way more interesting approach to songwriting than DT. Also, their chops are as complicated as they are minimalist. Subtlety and discipline > Arpeggiated showboating
...
You are deaf
my nigga
mike magini is the drummer for dream theater and I was agreeing they should have picked someone else instead of him you fucking autist. It's like you didn't even check for context
Today
...
You re-worded it but it's the same exact thing.
>ppl here don't like music but are merely trying to find out how to be cool
>tfw i wasnt the one you were agreeing with
