This song is cute. CUTE!

Unironically yes. Zeroes is great too

Definitely

Also

Young Americans is GOAT white boy soul
Stage is a great live album
Lodger is underrated
Heathen is massively underappreciated
The Next Day has a few just ok songs but is pretty great too, albeit overshadowed by the extra crispy masterpiece that followed it

HOLY FUCK THIS IS MY KIND OF THREAD.

Black Tie White Noise. Fantastic jazz-electro album and my introduction to Bowie. When I first heard Jump They Say I was hooked.

Plus it's kinda cute how he basically made an album about his wedding...it's just...ADORABLE..

As for my favorite/underrated song, Looking for Lester takes the cake. Probably the funnest instrumental Bowie's ever made. Funky and a great time.

youtube.com/watch?v=yCKLi-eSUvU

(Other underrated albums: Earthling, Diamond Dogs, Heathen, Space Oddity, etc.)

I don't understand why Earthling never gets any love

youtube.com/watch?v=S4R8HTIgHUU

Good choice
Also The Stars (Are Out Tonight) and Heat

Holy fuck you guys have good tastes.

90's Bowie just doesn't get enough love.

Anyone else think this is underrated?

Thanks, have another!

Beck covering Sound and Vision

forgot my link
youtube.com/watch?v=XyO5MRTbL2s

I've listened to this more than any other album

Scary Monsters tbph

This is a great album

youtube.com/watch?v=z6c9Ejfu-iU
Here's some David Bowie and Arcade Fire

LET'S TALK ABOUT RANKINGS! :D
Do you guys have a favorite-to-least order? If you do post em, I'm making mine now.

>David Bowie cover....
I have my doubts but I'll give it a listen

Fuck yeah, man. You got good tastes.

youtube.com/watch?v=TP4WoA7rBoUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eC9Sfy6qjmc The today to TaTa at the end is perfection

youtube.com/watch?v=fuPcbPaME5w

youtube.com/watch?v=8w8KjM6sM9o ignore the production and the beginning cringy rock guitar at the beginning, the darks and vocal melody are dark as fuck.

youtube.com/watch?v=HvfhObm14Oc

youtube.com/watch?v=EfRgd9REzAs

youtube.com/watch?v=8LvPLxZVQDQ - This is a completely different version of Candidate, really only shares the title.

youtube.com/watch?v=Gh44g0zASaU ignore the jungle beats

It has a couple of killer songs, but otherwise it feels kind of rushed. Like he wanted to make profit out of Let's Dance's massive success. I think it could have been a lot better.

Listen to the actual link, most of these were unreleased songs or b-sides from the album pop up when you hover your cursor above the embed link.

Mine

I plan on giving Black Tie White Noise a relisten soon, it might grow on me with time as Never Let Me Down did

waaaaaaaaaait a minute...
I remember you.
You're the same guy that was here when I was ranking the tracks for every David Bowie album!

Good times. Good times.

youtube.com/watch?v=0syRTFF0UbQ

youtube.com/watch?v=jb7Xdu7STx8

Some weak tracks and a few highlights. Blue Jean is a banger and Loving the Alien is really underrated.

youtube.com/watch?v=OKMSgZo9c8s

Alright, well it was hard but here's my rankings, best to worst.

1. Diamond Dogs (10/10)
2. Earthling (10/10)
3. Aladdin Sane (10/10)
4. Heathen (10/10)
5. Black Tie White Noise (10/10)
6. Space Oddity (10/10)
7. Young Americans (10/10)
8. Low (10/10)
9. Station to Station (10/10)
10. Hunky Dory (10/10)
11. Lodger (10/10)
12. Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) [10/10]
13. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (10/10)
14. The Man Who Sold the World (10/10)
15. Blackstar (10/10)
16. Tonight (9/10)
17. "Heroes" (9/10)
18. Reality (8/10)
19. Let's Dance (8/10)
20. The Next Day (8/10)

22. The Buddah of Suburbia (7/10)
23. 1. OUTSIDE (7/10)
24. Self Titled (6/10)
25. Never Let Me Down (2/10)

[I didn't include Pinups because nobody gives a shit about Pinups. You could take it out of his discography and nobody would notice.]

Why do you like Diamond Dogs so much? Is there some sort of story behind it?

The Buddha of Suburbia is really underrated. A lot of people seemingly don't realise it's a proper studio album

Not really a story, just a general list of reasons

>His tightest concept album
>Amazing funk-glam style
>His best vocal range (most notably on Sweet Thing)
>MIKE GARSON ON THE KEYS!
>Beautiful composition
>I need to say it again, MIKE GARSON ON THE KEYS!
>Not a single bad track.

Just my reasoning.

i wanna say blackstar is the album of the year

It is for me too. And this song is one of my favourites of the year.
youtube.com/watch?v=qqW-kvU5cLg

Same here. It's just so powerful and incredible. To hear him sing about wanting to "push their backs against the grain and fool them all again and again" is so heartbreaking, but satisfying considering he did one last time.
What an incredible artist.

youtube.com/watch?v=jbrTDjbVaVw

Oh hell yeah, definitely in his top 10 best.

why would you ignore the jungle beats

>that many 10/10s
stop

>Implying that's a bad thing and/or that Bowie doesn't deserve those 10's.

Bowie has at least 8 or so 10/10s stfu

youtube.com/watch?v=QWXRr325OYo

I first listened to this song around to the time my grandmother died. This song kinda fucked me up whenever I listened to it around that time. Because of that, this song has a special place in my heart.

Bowie is most well known for absorbing the current musical climate and regurgitating it in top tier form.
But what in your opinion is his most original album?

I'm thinking Station to Station, Outside, and Blackstar

Beep beep most underrated Bowie song coming through

youtube.com/watch?v=y31QF-9fkPQ

Heathen.

It's unlike any album you'd hear in 2002. The distorted guitar and instrumentation was so crisp and perfect throughout the whole album. I have yet to hear any album like it.

Don't think I've ever seen anyone talk about this track at all, which is a shame cause it's so sweet and breezy.
It's a bonus track from The Next Day.

youtube.com/watch?v=91FbrP3B15o

The extra material on The Next Day is so good
youtube.com/watch?v=TY8mXPQtvxU
By the way, nice quads

the alternate version of the supermen is better than the original

youtube.com/watch?v=qHU8hTex3k8

I generally agree but
>Tonight
>9/10

Love Thursday's Child, Hours is underrated in general.

So She is great. Most of the bonus tracks are, The Informer sounds like it could've been on Hours actually. Also I really like Born in a Ufo, which was originally written for Lodger.

Whaaaaat? That's a problem?

...Well I liked it.
(Reggae Bowie is good).

no album with that god only knows cover can ever be graced with a 9

What would you rate it?

a 4, i suppose? i actually like never let me down a little better than it

for the record, though, your placement of diamond dogs and heathen are spot on

>I actually like Never Let Me Down a little better.
Damn...You must really hate that album.

But still, thanks for the compliments, would love to see your rankings.

youtube.com/watch?v=U-AMec7yr7c

made this ages ago, changes i would make on reflection:

>the man who sold the world - 8
>aladdin sane - 8
>scary monsters - 8
>tonight - 4
>never let me down - 4
>outside - 9

and since blackstar wasn't out at that point, i'll give it a 10 here

Moo age daydream

Nice list, with one exception
>Black Tie White Noise
>5

Why senpai? Why?

FASCINATION

a lot of it just fell flat for me, sorry budd-e

pallas athena, miracle goodnight, looking for lester, and jump they say are all great tho

All Good Choices
African Night Flights has been discussed to death on here. It's still a great song though.

youtube.com/watch?v=fA5WyBMPULE
youtube.com/watch?v=EFBGnl0jlGw
Both the original and 2001 version of Conversation Piece are absolutely beautiful.

youtube.com/watch?v=7fKsa6uI9CI

youtube.com/watch?v=4E1jiV8Mo2Y

youtube.com/watch?v=_myArN2GO40
This may be my favorite deep cut from any Bowie album.

youtube.com/watch?v=ZupHxfvJVbc

youtube.com/watch?v=90DxiYH1WOc

youtube.com/watch?v=jD-vgLXihXE

>looking for lester is great
That made up for it somewhat.

youtube.com/watch?v=8i9nahfpuG0

TEEEEEEEEELL THE TRUTH
TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELL THE TRUTH

What about Buddha of Suburbia?

still haven't actually listened to it desu
i was gonna after blackstar but after he died i didn't want to listen to it because it'd be the last full bowie album i'd never heard
then that'd be it, nothing new to discover

This one I can get behind. Fair, and I love that someone else shares my enthusiasm for his work, especially the mid-late 70's. Diamond Dogs is fucking underrated.

Ah, makes sense.

Also I know they only just came out but do Killing a Little Time and No Plan count? Nobody is talking about them, they should've been on Blackstar.

>Lodger is underrated
I remember listening to Lodger for the first time the night before Bowie died, didn't like it at the time. Didn't even finish the album (stopped in the middle of Repetition). Now this album gives me feels.

1. Low and Heroes are tied for me (both 9/10)
3. Hunky Dory (8.5/10)
4. Blackstar (8/10) (If they didn't include Sue, it would've been at least 9 if not more).
5. Station to Station
6. Ziggy Stardust (6/10) - Overrated as fuck (it's good, but nowhere near Bowie's best album).
7. Lodger (4/10) - There are great songs, but there are also awful songs on that album.

Haven't heard the rest, what should I listen to next? (please no contrarian suggestions)

youtube.com/watch?v=h3PHnLR_LWk

>Outside
>7
Nah mate

>Young Americans
>7
No, it's at the least an 8 probably a 10

That's my shit right there
Deranged it's great too

>Blackstar (8/10) (If they didn't include Sue, it would've been at least 9 if not more)
gtfo Sue is one of the highlight of the album

check Aladdin Sane, Scary Monsters they're 10/10. But you seem to be one of those contrarian who might like Diamon Dogs & Young Americans...

How come I'm a contrarian? I never see someone saying Sue is the best song there or something. Do you actually think this song is better than any of the other songs on the album? It is definitely the least good one.

David Bowie: Early On (1964-66)
Back in the day when he was still David Jones.
Recommended songs: Eliza Jane I Pity the Fool Take a Tip I Dig Everything.

You
You motherfucker
I see you in every fucking thread because of your posting style .
What should I call you?

there is not such thing as overlooked
once you go bowie, you can never come back.

Random guy here but Sue is like one of my favourite songs of the year.
It just keeps building and gets twisted

Diamond Dogs is my second favourite album. It helps I love his take on 1984.

>liking Heroes over Low
>Diamond Dogs, Hunky Dory and The Man Who Sold the World worse than Ziggy.

Boy! Those sure are some unique opinions!

It's far better than 'Tis a pity, in my opinion. It tells a much more emotional and empathetic story.

Black Tie White Noise is his best album

Lodger is easily one of the most underrated album ever made.

this

This. It's a 10/10 for me. It took the longest to click but I can't stop listening to it now. African Night Flight is a masterpiece.

>how come I'm a contrarian
>Ziggy 6/10

>Diamond Dogs, Hunky Dory and The Man Who Sold the World worse than Ziggy.
>all of them have the same score

Scary Monsters isn't underrated. Every album that's come out after Tin Machine has been called "his best since Scary Monsters"

London, Bye, Ta Ta is overlooked so much. Probably because it went unreleased for a while.
youtube.com/watch?v=WuWs58-k6Do

I love me some Bowie with a vocoder.
youtube.com/watch?v=lLCKGrMowNM

>Untitled no. 1

>You've Been Around

>Dead Man Walking (Acoustic)

>Heathen (The Rays)

>Some Are

>Tired of My Life

>Strangers When We Meet

This one is incredible

I highly doubt you're gonna see this since thread is almost dead. But still. Call me whatever you want

>higher than a 7
Nah.

I don't want this thread to die.
About to post track ratings.

Here I go again.

>David chose Across The Universe over this?
youtube.com/watch?v=8EDEVts8Iw8

Why would he do that?

Because he was hopped up on coke and didn't realize this was better and the ATU cover was shit.

Re making these every time I do this is fun.
Not even being sarcastic. I love making these.

Feel like I should have rated Hermione higher. Oh well. Too late now.
