>Sam Spence & Jacob Hutto
>January
>New Jersey, Dark Ambient, EAI, Field Recordings, Harsh Noise, Harsh Noise Wall, Noise.
Description:
"O00000000000"
-Sam Spence
Sam Spence is the moniker of a man with many monikers. In his newest series of releases, Sam Spence collaborates with a different producer to create a month-based album. In the case of January, Spence had asked Jacob Hutto for a collaboration, who responded with mere, minimal field recordings. The result? Two elongated songs, initially feeling like a loving, natural memory, before slowly decaying into overwhelming walls of panic, noise, endlessly crescendoing into complete and utter chaos.
Support, scrobble, or review on RYM. Any feedback of any kind would be greatly appreciated. And Sam give some love. Thank You. :)

Sometimes I think of it as "cinematic ambient" but that sounds a bit pretentious.
>piano loops
>midi manipulation
I loved these, it's cool that everyone is putting out something new.
Something new at last! A lo-fi live recording of a session with a few people, I plan on building proper songs from these sessions and future ones. My favorite track is the first one since I sampled a guitar strum and use my synth to play different chords and notes.

I find that album cover offensive on some kind of deeply primal level, but y'all have got some groovy tunes nevertheless. Some really well put together songs on there, though I could see some people turned off by what might be seen as it being a bit over-refined or safe, but still its nice to see just a nice simple, no frills attached collection of songs every once in a while.

Denim and a smiley face badge offends you?

Thank you for the nice remarks. I'll explain the album cover. We originally had a patch designed for the cover but the place we were getting it through never got back with us and we had a cd release party lined up. So i whipped this cover up in photoshop so we could get cds by the show. It's grown on some people though.
Thank you guys. Excited to see what comes from those sessions Dave
Great new release! I think you have a ton of potential, take more drugs.
>I sampled a guitar strum and use my synth to play different chords and notes
Nxt lvl shit right here
when you arrange them in a way that it looks like someone made it with clip-art, then yes.
hah its cool, I'm just giving you shit m8. I'm sure most people don't care.

This was really interesting, cinematic ambient is about right. Very pleasant to listen to. Put me in an interesting state of mind. Reminds me of this time I went to a mostly empty theme park
Not that guy, offensive is the wrong word, but the name and the album cover look very uninspired and cliche. The music is good tho
lol those vocals in dave goes to college. we can pretend is pretty good, i wouldn't recommend having a joke song as the second song in the album though. nice vibes/interesting production in some of these. please no more jokes though it ruins the immersion and i cant take it seriously
Beautiful, beautiful guitar work. fuck.
Love the boyish vocals and lyrics. Kind of Elliot Smith-esque. This is the best album in the thread, will download. Keep it up
Weird synths man. I love that atmospheric horror sound, very spare. Its almost giving me some Yume Nikki/EarthBound vibes.
what is this
this is fucking awesome. really loving this
inspiring
i like what you're doing w this but the drums could use some work
Space Is Not as Big as Time
This sounds really fun, somehow. I'd love to see a live show.
"the party" is great. It keeps adding interesting stuff till the last second. I specially like the drums and the synth melody at 2:04.

Entertaining. Makes me feel good.
For a second I thought an Elliot Smith album I just downloaded and never listened to, just started playing in the background.
Reminds me of a band, but I can't quite put my finger on it. There certainly are Dunedin Sound vibes.
I like the production quality.
not sure if anyone remembers but a while back I saw some feminist band posting here does anyone remember the band? pretty sure it was a joke but wasn't 100% sure

I posted in the thread that 404'd, hope it's okay to post here too. I'm struggling as an untrained female vocalist trying to get people to look at the composition and not the 'quality' of my voice.

>after the first song, it's the dark synth horrorshow you expect it to be
I love this. It's so dreamy and indie and is exactly what my fall brain needs. Some melancholic harmonies that compare to fleet foxes' for me, and some comfy guitar, with a cute album cover. I love this and will listen to it on my own time regularly, I'm not going to lie.

NEW alBUM still slated for November. It will return to the ambitious style of "Senioritis" rather than the tossed-off barebones style of "Music Box." (There's a reason I haven't been promoting that last one.)
Thank you for creating this. I might even be coming back just for the sheer novelty of its existence.
Competently performed indie rock with unusual chord progressions. I'd like to see you try to throw in some prettiness or strangeness or cosmic element in the midst of all that gooey, moody sidewalk stomping. ("What did he mean by this??")
Pay more attention to how you write your vocal melodies. That's my best advice.
Oh man I remember to listening to this a while ago. It's kind of Smiths-y. Spanish Kid is C-A-T-C-H-Y and a beauty. Overall, your style could use a little less blandness though. Toss something unusual in there; don't be shy. But that's just me.

Thanks sir/ma'am, I just got the idea that the really steady military drum beat in that song would lend itself really well to big heavy guitar stuff and i was pleased with the result
