Does anyone really think the expansion from 16 to 24 teams has been a good idea?

Memes, lads. get your memes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's the best idea ever.

For watching good football of course not, for (((them))) of course.

W-w-why??

Good idea
Bad format

no
not at all
woeful idea

i was hoping for better knock outs after suffering through group stages, but now we basically have one bracket of death, and one bracket for memes. you decide if that was worth it

Because we advanced from group and the bracket is super fun with Wales winning their group and stuff.

Personally, an expansion to 20 teams would have been better.

Keep four groups, but with five teams and the top two progressing to the QFs. That way the format stays the same and it affords a few extra teams to play in a major tournament finals.

Yeah, but that could well have happened under the old format.

It's going to stay this way and you fucking know it because UEFA doesn't really give a shit
Only way it could change if there was a massive, persistent backlash but I doubt it
Say hello to the same shit in 2020

Should make it 32 instead so the Netherlands can join.

Shit idea. Guaranteed meaningless games with teams already eliminated

This. It's set up to help group A and fuck over group E

more countries and more matches = more visitors and viewers = more money

24 teams is a fucking joke, that's pretty much half the entire confederation.

it wouldn't be that bad if the round of 16 was not that unbalanced

Many weak european teams are still better than the teams that get into the World Cup from other regions though, so this is a way to pay them back.

Then don't watch them. Watch the games that do mean something.

also it's also bad because it kills any chance for big teams to choke and miss it

Yeah, Asia is a joke. Africa isn't much better. It ends up as a UEFA-CONMEBOL tourney with some CONCACAF in the round of 16 and a sprinkling of whatever else slipped through. Still, 24 is just a bit too much, and 16 teams going through to the next round is ridiculous.

Look at this green girl, lads.

what bothers me the most is how fucking many games you play to eliminate 6 teams, then theres stilll fodder elft, and due to the brackets we might not get rid of it until the semis

wut?

Asian Cup is comedy gold desu

What are your thoughts on Israel?

Do you have big tits?

why is not so great britain allowed to sneak in 3 team ?

fucking fags

UEFA should've gone the whole hog to 32, now that would've been a laugh. The likes of Estonia & Belarus potentially qualifying for the tournament proper.

Yeah and?

If they insisted on 24 they should've used my proposed format:

- top 2 teams from each of the 6 groups progress (giving 12 in total)

- the 4 first placed sides that have the best records in the group-stage are handed byes to the quarters

- the other 8 teams are drawn against each-other in the 'Elimination round' for the 4 remaining quarter-final berths

Genius

Would love to have them in the Asian confederation

Yes my friend, /fat cunt/ reporting

20 teams 4 groups group winners get bye round 2nd and 3rd place finishers play a round

UEFA is constantly expanding though. Kosovo are the latest member, rumours of Crimea & Vatican City gaining membership by late 2017. Perhaps the increase was necessary, thoughts?

>rumours of Crimea & Vatican City gaining membership by late 2017
Knobhead

>Knobhead

I'll expand ur qt boipucci, m8.

irish are niggers

> Vatican City

wat

...

The shitshow that became the Knockout brackets sure did.

no t︃bh

What's the problem? Some teams like Northern Ireland or Slovakia are pretty good and deserve to play in tournament system. The more the merrier.

You see, when the game is about to start and the players stand in line, each one with a child in front of them? That's why.

But it's not merrier, which is part of the problem.

Furthermore, NI qualified top of their group. The expansion has done nothing for them.

This is actually a pretty good idea

Not really as it gives an unfair advantage. Teams having to play an extra game to reach the QFs will rightly complain.

>tfw Scotland still wouldn't qualify
