no contest, sorry guys
Johan the Cruyff
Zinedine Zidane
...
Zidane like every french who is older than 16 year old
Most overrated goal of "Top 100 goals ever scored ever" youtube video desu
Prime Essien just edges prime Cole for me. Although Joey was a fucking lad and I loved him for it
I don't know the name of any soccer players
Alan Shearer
t2b
I don't get this obsession with Zidane. You might say my memory is a bit off, but I cannot recall him being THAT fucking good. He was great don't get me wrong, but I can't remember him being as good as say a prime Ronaldinho, Brazilian Ronaldo, Portugese Ronaldo, Messi, etc.
>picking a player you didn't grow up idolizing
plz...
He was great in big games which is why everyone remembers him so fondly
Very inconsistent league player but was on another level in big games. I hate it's a meme now because his performance vs Brazil in 2006 got me into the sport more than casually
>that 6-0 against man city
Pretty disappointing season at the end of the day, but those where the days. Makes me pretty mad how City is seemingly respected/not hated by a majority of people while Chelsea is STILL under constant hatred from everyone. At least Chels was hovering around the top 4 for a while before getting bought. City was subject to losing 6-0 to Chelsea and 8-0 to Middlesbrough in that same season.
Actually there is a rumour that Roman only ever bought the club because Chelsea scraped to a top four finish on that final day against Liverpool in 2003.
Shearer
>all of these cringey choices

Messi.
>all these big names
You boring bastards. I pick Jimmy Bullard.
It's not only the goal itself, Rivaldo scored a hat-trick in that 3-2 match including THAT goal in the last minute, qualifying Barça for Champions League and saving them from bankruptcy.
I don't think someone from Norway have watched Bordeaux vs AC Milan (1996) or France vs Portugal (2000).
Here, we did.
But when people compare a midfielder to a striker you know they are a joke.
Okay first off all, mate, what the fuck is up with the passively aggressive attitude? I was hoping for some real answers and to open a dialogue and this is your answer. Second comparing ability has nothing to do with position, how can you not understand that? If player X is a midfielder and Y is a striker, and player Y is slightly better in his position than player X is at his, that makes player Y a better footballer. How is that hard to understand. Every player out there is comparable in ability, no matter where on the pitch they play. You'd agree Chiellini is a better player than Bebe right? Right.
Forever and always
It was a joy watching him play when I was younger
SUPERKEV
The thread was about who is your favorite player. a French guy (not me) answered Zidane and you act surprised.
I propose you to watch France vs Portugal from Euro 2000, probably a better game than all the boring games Euro 2016 has to offer, maybe you will understand why people like this player.
You can also watch Bordeaux/Milan from 1996 or Brazil/France from 2006, twenty years between both but always the same talent. In the 2006 game you could also compare his game with the one produced by Roni and Ronaldo.
Zidane was strong against the strong and always delivered with his NT (see WC 2002, no zidane, no party), that's why we love him here, is that hard to understand?

>Reddit doesn't rate Zidane
all Zidane haters confirmed reddit users
>le beck to le lebbit xDD
Get the fuck out.
There you go, that's the sort of answer I wanted. I just needed a different perspective to really understand what it's all about.
Even after this shevchenko is still my favorite player.
...
upvoted
>Cañizares
I feel old as shit
>not Walter Frosch
I don't know that much about soccer, but Zidane is my favorite player simply because of the way that he moves. It's like watching a poem on two feet, and that is beautiful. His roulette is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in the sport.
Roberto Baggio
Bergkamp
R9
Baresi
Modelled myself on him by kicking players off the pitch.
who does your father rate?
my father is a 60 yo nostalgia 'back in the day it was better' dude and the only active players he rates are Iniesta, James, Suárez, Robben, Pirlo and Mascherano
>I can't remember him being as good as say a prime Ronaldinho
>there is people that ACTUALLY believe this
But user your dad is right in the past footie was better, defense actually could play defense, offense was creative, lack of modern PEDS make smarter players because they coudnt run the field like stupid monkeys for 90 minutes.
Basically
Pele Garrincha Zico R9, Zago, Taffarel etc.>>>Kaka, Neymar, Hulk, David Luiz, Marcelo, Alves, etc.
Webm related and Kaka, yes i'm boring. I loved Gattuso too
Henrik Larsson. He was the ultimate professional and a really clever forward, I've met him and he's a really nice down-to-earth dude too.

Literally every nigger had this haircut at school in 2002.

Jari Litmanen is definitely my all time favorite, but that's because I'm a biased mongol.
Patrick Vieira is my favorite non-mongol player.
BR Ronaldo
That game against Baggio's Italy...
just an immense presence
Robben.
who
Paul Scholes. I unironically think hes the greatest player of all time, mostly do to his overall approach to football.
>who does your father rate?
Daniel Brailovsky. Played in the Mexican league.
as for me, Batigol was a beast and everyone rated Ronaldo but my idol was this
It wasn't easy getting international footy back in the day in the USA so the best I got were highlights in the Mexican channels especially with based Jose Ramon Fernandez's DeporTV.
Fuck Chelshit
Based Robben desu
Baggio.
Toldo and Batistuta after him.

Good times man.
I like players that don't disappears when the going gets tough, so people like Iniesta, Suarez, Mascherano... currently I don't have many favourite players tbqh
The correctist answer
...
Funny thing is, at the beginning of the WC1998, ALL the other 8 year old kids had their favourite player as Ronaldo.
Probably because Ronaldo was far better than Zidane at the time and Zidane did nothing besides get suspended before the Finals.
Aimar, D'alessandro and Riquelme
>all the people ITT who don't rate Zidane
why would you /thread OP's question? kys my man
Should have never won it over Ronaldo that year. Amazing that he won that on the basis of one performance.
