i
reminder that while i may be a solution, it's not real.
The context of the problem is very important here.
Depends on your order of precedence!
All wrong.
x^2+1=0
x^2=-1
x=(+-)i
positive and negative i are both valid solutions
X=+/- i
noodles
Bingo!
Bingoer!
x=0.01
0.01²=0.0001≈0
>it's not real.
It's imaginary but didn't we learn from South Park that imagination is real?
Wrong you fucking faggots, the solution is only i
Do you have any clue of how complex numbers work or did you just look it up on 9gag or you favorite scienceXD Facebook page?
>x=0.01
>0.01²=0.0001≈0
That would mean 1 = 0.
only sometimes
Well i^2 is defined as -1 so could get there with i and -i.
x= xD
It would be ((-1)i)^2 which would then be (-1)^2 x i^2 though which would make you correct.
x belong to empty set dumb niggers
there is no number multiplied by itself that could give you negative number
engineers
No x is part of the complex numbers, mongo. There just is no real number to solve the equation.
x to the power of two is always bigger than 0. 1 is always bigger than 0.
together, the left side is always bigger than 0, therefore this is not a correct equation.
>I haven't learned complex numbers but I know one very small piece of set theory.
school
x^2 + 1 = 0
x^2 = -1
x^2 ∈
in the real world yes
but in the imaginary world, no
Not even gonna comment on your lack of knowledge on complex numbers, just gonna state that x even if x is real, x^2 is not always bigger than 0.
0^2=0
0>0
>mind
>blown
0^2=1
You fucking nigger
0*0=1
>mind
>blown
0+0=1
x^0 = 1, but 0^x ≠ 1
The square root of -1
no matter how many blanks you shoot you still won't impregnate her
X = i
kek
I thought about it, but such number does not exist:
√-x ∉ ℜ
How about 47x times 87y over the square root of 90?
The complex number form a field, so (-i)^2 can be manipulated with all the normal algebraic operations, giving you:
-i ^2 = -i*-i = -1*-1*i*i = i^2 = -1
>x^2 is not always bigger than 0.
explain
X=i
Fucking happy retard?
...
X is the square root of -1
How long did you lurk to use those signs?
x= sqrt(1) = 1 faggot
This equation has no solution.
x^2 + 1 = 0 | - 1
x^2 = 0 - 1
x^2 = -1
you can't calculate a root of a negative number
Took me about 10 sec with google, m8
The solution does not exist in the reals numbers
That is correct, as i've written before...
Idiot
sqrt(-1) .. whops I mean 'i'.
Could you explain why do you think so?
yes you can if you use imaginary numbers (i)
wich is 1
Kill yourself
>mfw trying to understand this thread
X = -1
i
(-1)^2 = (-1) * (-1) = 1 Nope dude
X = 5
I do not use imaginary numbers. My math teacher wouldn't approve.
x^2+1=0 has infinitely many solutions if x is a Quaternion
x = bi + cj + dk, with b^2 + c^2 + d^2= 1
Impossible faggots, x² will never be equal to -1 cause a square is always positiv
This problem has no solution.
That is not true, because x^2 can be also 0. 0^2 = 0
X = -2
x = i
0² is not equal to -1 mfw
oh my fucking god is everyone here on this thread autistic or some shit, i learned how to do this when i was 11, the answer is x= -0.5 using algebra. its just inverse mathematics dipshits
a squared number can't be negative
Cuck
Nice mathemojis you used btw
see
But it is also not equal to +1. 0 is special is nether positve, neither negative
Too easy, but how about 9999999999999999999999 multiplied by 9999999999989889?
This shit reminds me of high school calc
youtu.be
It's Unicode you fucking cabbage
>689170330
bullshit
wow not a single person except for me has got this question wright so far in this thread, x = -0.5
...
...
Let's just agree to disagree and leave as friends, okay? :>
Bet you're the type of fag that doesn't use them just because they are called "imaginary".
> √-x ∉ ℜ
> 𝑖
Did you wake up in the middle of the question, dear fuck-nugget?
No, it's because if i would do such thing on my math test it would be taken as wrong. On my level of education there is no such thing as imaginary number + i've never disagreed that the solution is "i". I just did it as i was teached to answer.
It's square root of -1, which doesn't exist
x= i
No. Im awake all the time.
and never sleep
I have lost faith in humanity...
as u said
>On my level of education there is no such thing as imaginary number
Then perhaps you should wait until you are old enough to talk about big boy maths with the rest of us.
Also, MODS!
x^2 might be equal to 0, if x=0. Obviously a particular case, but useful for whatever you call it in English on where the function starts and ends (sqrt(x) starts in 0 closed, for instance).
In my whole education i wont be teached to work on imaginary answers. Only because of my intrest in math i know that this is a possible solution. Waiting wont change anything boy.
the value i represent is the square root of -1
you fucking uneducated assholes
Its not an equation ,its an expression
Wrong.
a^2+b^2+c^2=1
x=ai+bj+ck
All values for a,b,c such that the second equation is true are valid solutions.
Learn to Quaternions, newfag.
When you take a square root it's implied that it's +/- you dopey shit. -4 * -4 is still 16
x={i,-i}
>equal sign
>not an equation
(X+1) (x-1)
