What the fuck
how does cbc get its funding?
>be British
>hear tires go SCREEEEECH outside
>look outside
>see this
I was going to say
>british tax dollars at work
but then I realized it'd "british tax pounds at work." Do they even use that expression?
Can a limey help me out?
Why don't they just put a nominal tax on new screens, or an extra levy on income taxes?
Why go to all the effort of having some secret TV licence enforcement agency?
Why do they do this and still have obnoxious ads all over the BBC website and mobile app?
wat
yeah I never understood this either, I'm pretty sure TVNZ's funding just comes out of our taxes
You can buy a tv and use it as a monitor
The feds
they need a license to watch to
>brits need a license to have a dog
But you could just put a blanket tax on every new screen, phones/tvs/monitors etc, since all that TV content is available on the web these days as well. If it was something like 10 pounds per screen, I don't think anyone would care that much.
man..the Uk is disappointing me more and more..
Happens the same for scots, welsh and north irish or just english?
But it's not fare. I pay additional tax if I buy usb or DVD disk because government assumes it's for pirating films. It's just retarded. I understand that it's more convenient than creating a service for tv tax collecting
...
ad money and the federal government
Anybody who wants to watch the BBC is supposed to pay the annual licence fee that funds it.
It's not really enforced but the letters can get annoying, plus most people are very favourable towards the BBC.
move over amateurs, as usual the eternal kiwi has already solved the problem
>Approximately 90% of TVNZ's revenue is from commercial activity (such as advertising and merchandising).[3] The remainder of its funding comes from government funding agencies.
There's a reason for that
It's just a tax like any other, no one likes paying taxes, but shit has to get funded somehow. Having a well-funded independent broadcaster/media producer is very benefitial, I would argue, and I know the BBC's very popular, as is our indepedent broadcaster, there's political support to keep them around.
>advertising
The eternal Jew rears its head again.
nice try commie but I'm not buying it
We don't use that expression
But bbc is pure propaganda. A little bit better than rt but still. I would never pay for something so biased as bbc if I had a choice
Advertisement is pretty funny tho.
>biased
Mate, RT is a government run Russian propaganda machine.
The BBC is completely independent from the government, with numerous independent watchdogs to ensure it remains as impartial as possible.
The only influence our government has on the BBC is a limited control overs it budget.
Yet these countries still haven't got anything even closely as relevant as the BBC on a worldwide stage.
the david attenborough drinking game is GOAT btw
Friendly reminder BBC4 is the best BBC channel.
Friendly reminder Radio 4 is the best BBC station.
People should have to get a license to own an unneutered or unspayed animal at all.
fucking VICE is more relevant than BBC nowadays.
Well what's the difference if they are both shit? RT is a meme channel for retarded foreigners and russian patriots who live outside russia and bbc, at least they foreign news coverage, is a total biased shit where everyone outside of modern humanistic politics is fashist
do i need a license to watch someone else's tv
Let me guess, you're more more partial to Infowars and Brietbart because the main stream media are "da joos".
No just your household.
>brits need a license to own a gun
Oh wait you can't have one because you live on a rainy freedomless island.
For you.
No
Even the Americans often use BBC on their public radio and Sir David Attenborough is the official voice of science (mostly biology) for all English speaking people worldwide.
Nah they are retarded too. Even though I agree that mainstream media is a fucking shit but infowars is not better they always blame someone but don't even try to understand the roots of modern problems.
Now this is the kind of bait that i expect from 4 chan, top quality m'lady
There are around 2 million legal guns in the UK you muppet.
After America the UK is the biggest exporter of television media, with the US being its biggest importer (£500m worth).
The BBC are bitches and keep crying that they will be under-funded if they only get sales tax money.
DESU The licensee fee might be on the way out given how the BBC is much more shit these days objectivity, In the last year they lost Top Gear and Bake Off. If it keeps failing to impress the public it will be a matter of time.
thats pretty good
people are so fucking dumb they fucking need license to watch tv
literally zero media literacy theyve got
They changed the charter rules to enforce objectivity in their reporting now. Before it was just voluntary. Now it's part of their contract with the government.
I dunno the BBC still often does well during key periods of the week like Saturday evenings, things like Strictly Come Dancing often beating its competitors in viewing figures for example. Documentary wise I've yet to see a broadcaster best the BBC, not just wildlife but a whole range of subjects.
Those tv vans are literal scare tactics they've been pulling since the 80s. The Beeb can't track down unlicensed sets.
BBC is white propaganda like all other state-funded outlets, don't kid yourself. Just because you have a wider reach than most doesn't make you any better.
pretty sure they say tax money
>brits need a license to watch this
youtube.com
technically so do Japanese, but when they come to your door you just say you don't have a TV, and they go "oh ok" and walk away.
This. Its 2016, no-one watches TV anymore. TV died about 10 years ago.
Almost every country in europe does this too
>pay TV tax to get unbiased news coverage
>the news are the second most biased right after Helsinskaja Pravda
they don't call it BBC for nothing
We would say 'tax payers money'
pengest munch lad is going places
Brits feel the need to have diverse methods of taxation, like bedroom taxes.
Dont forget the sleeping in same bed tax for couples.
