The world is like that with edginess now. The edgiest possible damn thing just happened and now anything else seems boring and pointless.

Agreed. Ram and Band on the Run are both better than any Beatles album. Also, the worst Wings album (Red Rose Speedway) is still better than the worst Beatles album (Beatles For Sale).

If by "best" we mean "most enjoyable, musically interesting and also most important to subsequent musical culture", the very short list includes safe Sacred Cow choices like Tomorrow Never Knows, I Am The Walrus, and A Day In The Life. These are the tracks where they are most famously playing with tape loops/studio stuff, the lyrics are slightly delerious/"strange" yet convey definite "modern"/stream-of-consciousness moods (t. Joyce), True Fifth Beatle George Martin is producing the shit out of things and adding the fluorishes that really make the tracks pop, and they're just generally cementing cred as real artists and not the boy band anymore.
Sounds like you need to listen to Ram and Band On The Run.
1. It's Only Love
2. Real Love
3. Long Long Long
Helter Skelter
>Long Long Long
I used to hate this song- thought it was boring and droning. One day it clicked and I saw the brilliance in it. Good taste user.
