Not amongst normal people, the ones you run into day-to-day who only learned how to use the internet because it finally became popular in the last ten years, and is on their goddamn cell phones.

I remember when Sup Forums was a bastion of free speech, though. There weren't any rules (or there were, but they were laughed at and ignored). Now there's two or three people in very thread that pops up, enforcing rules/morality. Because they believe in it, I guess, at least some of them.

It's "normie" compared to what it was. Also a bit more porn/shitposting (Sup Forums was always shit, of course, but still). There are actual rules that people follow now. Current Sup Forums is tame.

Short answer Yes

I guess you could say it's normal enough that people know about it and don't associate it with criminals, but still look at you differently if you talk about it. Like anime club at my high school.

The fappening did it

Nah, it happened well before that. First there were the otakus, hackers and script kiddies, etc. Later on came the memes and the pedos, followed by the trolls. Raid threads were still going at this time. CP was taken down, after awhile, but frequently posted and soon replaced.

Sometime around maybe 2012, there was an influx of underage b&, redditors, mods, and feds. The CP, raid threads, etc that were still going on at that time were cracked down on repeatedly and finally disappeared. Now Sup Forums's tame userbase reports them on sight (the hackers - the real Anonymous - left a long, long time ago).

The fappening caused a little bit of legal ruckus, but I don't think it really changed anything.

Really, Sup Forums was kind of like a primitive Tor(/"darknet") hangout. This same kind of thing seems to happen to every niche internet community as it becomes more popular. Or communities in general. E.g., members of the Tor network itself cracking down on CP and arms sales. Or the wild west of the US as "civilization" spread.

If you look up dank meme compilations some are named best of Sup Forums webm

Normie here. I can confirm that Sup Forums isn't even remotely normie

How so? I think is normie as fuck.

Underrated post

This is true, and it's sad to see.

I miss the frontier. The internet was the only one I was born early enough to experience, and now that's gone too.

Current Sup Forums is kind of like the low-rent side of a US suburb. No more gambling, alcohol sales past a certain hour (1 AM in my current town, ugh), prostitution, or drugs (CP, raid threads, general Anonymous activity).

Plenty of porn and off-color discussion, even a little gore now and again (gasp!). Anything that even hints at something other than that gets reported.

(relatively) civilized people showed up and annexed the place, and told user to move on.

There are communities on the "deepweb" similar to Sup Forums, in varying degrees. As to "frontiers," I get some fun out of kayaking, hiking, and air sports - feels like exploring, even if it's not new territory.

I miss the internet during the Windows XP era (I was an IT guy at the time). Instant messaging and forums were still sort of a thing, connection speed was nice, but most people hadn't caught on yet.

A good chunk of my work was just people who didn't have antivirus, and had lost control of their PCs.

As one who misses the fabled days, how would one go about lurking in these communities? I know nothing of the "deepweb". Some of my favorite memories on the internet are kek'ing at threads on Sup Forums, /gif/ and Sup Forums. Help a Sup Forumsro out

Maybe I'm just from a conservative part of the word, but ppl around me won't feel comfortable in trap/scat/rekt/gore/boipuci/fur, etc. threads. We (anons) are just so jaded that we don't realise how far we're removed from normies

I'm a normie.

hold on

Holding

(If it's as simple as installing a tor browser, that's simple enough for me)

It's been awhile since I've been interested.

Download the Tor browser bundle (torproject org). Here's a link to a (clean) version of the hidden wiki. There are others; if you want that stuff, it's not hard to find.

Just google searching for onion chans, social networking, whatever will probably bring something.

Image boards like the former Sup Forums do exist, though, in varying degrees. A little exploration should turn one or two up.

4 fuck sake op is fag. do never ask aquestion like this again or we will destroy our selves

Many thanks, friend.

Here's a lovely door.

Luv u longtime

Here's one, for instance. I mean, they link to it from Reddit lol. Not sure where it is in terms of content, but there are plenty of chans, just a matter of searching.

Sup Forums isn't normie. It's getting a little generic, but this site is a little too fucked up to be normie.
This site has normies and kids on it, but that doesn't make it normie.
Not a normie.
