I guess that's why people like singer-songwriter folk songs so much. And demos (which I love). That's true. I also think Stay would've sounded better if it was a little less "produced"
That's just my opinion but I think he is the most important member. I want the group to go on without him if it's utterly necessary but I don't want him to leave the group if that makes any sense.
I don't know about that. Even if he managed to somehow not kill himself his music is still pretty sad. I can't think of a single song that doesn't sound like that - though I don't know all of their songs.

Mamamoo are in their prime they can get wild on stage and still hit their notes just fine. It's actually kind of funny you bring up this issue with regards to SHINee because they have a reputation for sounding like they "eat CDs" as they say, they always sound exactly as good as they do on their recordings. Even when doing the really demanding choreography they're known for. SHINee is really at the top of the game when it comes to keeping up strong vocals and impressive choreo at the same time.
Yeah I think you're exactly right. Reminds me of how I love the demo version of Suite: Judy Blue Eyes so much better than the official version. I dunno maybe there's some kind of magic that's only captured the first time. You're right about Stay, it could have felt really cozy if it wasn't so clean-sounding. With the acoustic guitar and harmonica, etc. It would have been great. No idea if there's anyone at YG who would do something like that though. I don't think Taehyun will leave but Winner's gotta do something one of these days, and we don't know the timeframe for his "recovery." It's just such an uncertain situation...maybe if he's not doing activities he can still contribute in other less stressful ways? He has made these songs after all.
The teasers seem to suggest a bit of a darker concept this time so I don't think it's gonna be so bright and colorful this time. They are ballads after all. SHINee has a lot of range even in their slow songs too so I'm kind of interested.

Here's my theory about The Smiths: great songs but every Smiths song covered sounds better than the original. Songs like There's a Light That Never Goes out are undeniable though. But yeah, that's one band I never really got into because of the rivalry. Surprisingly I did get into Oasis even though I always liked Blur better.
If the Shinee album was upbeat - which I agree - a couple of ballads are going to give it good balance. But on a side note, perhaps they should've switched a couple of the album and repackage songs to play safer...

I know. Also sometimes the live version is also much better than the studio song. But I guess it doesn't work so well with kpop because it's more electronic sounding.
I don't even know if it's about sounding too clean. But it just feels like there's too much going on at the same time. The acoustic version of Whistle was pretty much perfect imo and the production was probably the same.
It would be a perfect opportunity to give the members a subunit and acting gigs while Taehyun is resting. I don't see how that hasn't happened yet.
As for contributing with the group. I think it's clear that he's written many songs by now. I'm sure at least one of them could find it's way into an album even if other producers had to work on it as well. It all seems very simple to me but who knows

Early Sunsets is so sad. Definitely one of the best. Very emotional. I honestly only skip Headfirst for Halos and Skylines and Turnstiles. The rest is all good.
