Vinyl General

You know the drill.

Anything interesting you guys have found recently?

Finally got my copy of Inalienable Dreamless. Clear vinyl first pressing!

I'm waiting for several vinyl in the mail. Importing overseas kinda sucks because sometimes it takes too fucking long to come. My last purchase was Fishmans' Long Season on CDJapan, it's on backorder, might take a whole month for them to ship it.

I actually have two records coming from Japan atm. Fucking hate the wait, its horrible

My father had a bunch of vinyls which I'm considering getting a record player but I'm unconvinced atm.
What's the lowest price point that I could pay for a record player?
He's got stuff like the doors, devo, led zeppelin, etc.
Vinyl's look like a lot of fun to collect honestly. Do they get affected by rot like cd's do?

Nice Neu! Original pressing, Tago Mago original UK pressing and Soundtracks Italian 1981 pressing
Dead happy with these grabs. Alot of money for the Tago Mago pressing. But it was well worth it

Just bought my first turntable and three records. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, The Physical World, and Voices.

Yes and no.

If you keep them in a cool dry place, they'll be fine!

The heat will warp them easily, but thats the only experience ive had

There can also be white mold that grows on the record but again, its from improper storage.

For a new turntable you won't find a decent one cheaper than $250. Pro-Ject Essential, U-Turn Orbit, AT-LP120 are the top entry-level turntables.

Vinyl can last forever* if you store them in a cool, dry place. So does CDs maybe, disc rot is most of the time a result of improper manufacturing.

todays pickups

What version for Dungeon Bastards??

I have the glow in the dark one haha

Also is that an original press for nightside eclipse?

the label is that small?

nah its just a funky angle

the sleeve under it is making it look smaller

Its the clear red pressing. Same color as my copy of We Came For The Dead.

Nightside Eclipse is the 2008 back on black press

how does it sound??

i wanted to get one, but i heard they sounded bad

havent spun it yet. BoB pressings are really hit or miss. I've got some that sound fine, and a few that have awful mixes.

Recent pickups.

Pickups from the months of October and November.

My two prized albums, the first is an original pressing and I'm hoping to get it signed tonight (hyped!).

Fire! - She Sleeps, She Sleeps

and i bought the new Bon Iver for the wife

$2 each at a pawn shop. Top left is the first press of the first Swans EP.

>Stereo pressing of Sgt. Pepper

but what are their grades?

they're all A+ to me

but are they VG, G+, VG+, what?

Some of those are worth about 2 bucks depending on the grade.

You don't need a vinyl record player at all.
Just buy vinyls for the artwork and download superior FLAC CD rips.

I'd say Elvis Costello is very good, maybe even very good plus. He's consistently released quality albums and he was highly influential to other musicians of his day. Like I said though, I'd give all of these albums an A+!

...

Most are in great condition, I'd say VG and up aside from one or two that have split seams and beat covers. So far the ones I have gotten around to playing have all played through just fine.

Mad jelly

bump

>import a record
>according to the tracking code, it's stuck in the same place for over a month now

makes me want to kill myself

I found 80, 60s-70s records in a closet last week. I know hardly any of it but most of it is pretty cool imo.
