I was looking for this thread. I just want to say: What.cd was one of my favourite websites, and I'm really really sad that it's been shut down. I only got it in August and downloaded as much as I could, and finding the rarest albums i've looked for for years and finally finding them was so pleasurable, there's no words that could describe it. It was like a five year orgasm to finally find some releases. And all in perfect audio condition. This website was near perfect for me, and I'll miss it a lot. Sure there's soulseek and all the other ones but this...this was special.
Not the first time a great music website has been taken down. First Imeem, then Grooveshark, now What.cd. The circle of life so it seems.

But What.cd was 100x bigger than OiNK and technology has changed a lot since then. I think the future is going to move away from torrents in general, not sure what will replace it but having to seed things and keep ratio is too inconvenient. There has to be another way.
