this is what i meant by cringy too, but hear me out first:
if you aren't stupid enough to get "brainwashed" by dumb music, it's very easy to enjoy. it's fun to listen to and you don't have to think about it, because it doesn't try to be profound.
there's also the fact that artists like lil wayne helped pave the way for the genre in the 2000's
of course there's some stuff that i absolutely can't stand because it's soley about gangbanging and has nothing of substance (dsavage, lil uzi vert, playboi carti)
but people who are generally associated with dumb music actually have some really interesting production, features, and creativity to it. "muh lyrikz" arent always the only important part of music, and if you believe that you may be a narcissist.

i totally understand ya dude, i listen to whats on the radio sometimes, and i know alot of lil waynes old"er" shit. i just have to be in a certain mood to listen to it. but here in houston texas, the rap they play on the radio constantly here is such trash. shit if im in houston i'de like to listen to some SPM come on the radio, but it never does. personally, i prefer midwestern style of rap, faster paced. the shit they play on the radio is sooo slooowww with little effort put into their lyricism
