The 80s one was a remake too, but I agree. No version beats that one. The practical effects were fucking amazing.

Funfact: They had spent over a million dollars and two years developing the practical effects for the 2011 one, then some millennial producer came along, said people won't watch something without cgi, so they scrapped all the work they had done, re-shot the movie and added in rushed CGI special effects.
