english is terrible at this because you have various patterns of letters that mean lots of different things or sometimes the same thing

we use accents and still have ambiguous pronunciations (although nowhere nearly as bad as English).

It's a crutch, but it doesn't solve everything.

Also if your language doesn't have ê è é ë or ç, it's pretty much a non language.

Not him, but in Dutch we prefer to use double letters.

Dutch - French
e = è
ee = é

We have quite a few rules that dictate when to use double letters and when you can omit them, but Dutch is almost entirely phonetic if you remember all the rules. Without having to use any weird accents.

You could just write cafe without the need to use beaner accents. There is no other use of the word cafe so it should be used without accent.

German is pretty specific about pronounciation, too. We have words like Kaffee and Allee, where the "ee" means it's a long e.
My last name contains "ee", but people always pronounce it as short e.
People are retards. This is probably why accents exist in other languages.
