Let's do a little StreetView. Today's theme is images from obscure places or countries.

Nauru to start.

Inland by a lake. Is the lake made of salt or fresh water?

We're shown a shipwreck in Vanuatu.

It looks like a gathering by the beach.

What are the structures for?

A bit inland now.

VERY comfy.

Not on the biggest island anymore.

Further southeast, more isolated.

On to Tuvalu.

Middle of fucking nowhere. This image is actually rather frightening.

No images from Vaitupu, sadly, but here we are in Tuvalu on some atoll. It looks like a runway and a main road.

Is anyone reading this? You can use instantstreetview.com to contribute.

...

This lagoon is not nice and I don't like atolls anymore.

Let's go somewhere else, please.

Sao Tome and Principe.

Near some national park. Don't like it too much.

The country is known for its photographers who don't know how to take a decent panorama image.

lol

GHOST CAUGHT ON CAMERA

It's a mountain road.

A waterfall in the mountains has been built up.

A tiny island to the south of the main one.

A foot man on an island to the northeast. Is it Principe? It certainly looks more "tropical."

Just for comparison, if we sail east to Gabon, we get this. Is Gabon really so bad?

We'll travel to this lonely road in Lesotho, since we're in Africa. It's decently scenic.

The local fast food joint.

Looking quite normal here beside the school.

They're lined up to get into South Africa.

Out away from the "population center" again.

This country is really weird.

Why are there no trees to cover the hills?

Is this really the largest city?

This country is depressing.

Maybe we should try Western Sahara.

Cool guys here.

Why exactly is this place disputed territory?

Well, there is something here.

Perhaps last post if nobody's here.

I went to Lord Howe Island.

Nice try but that's Crysis running on max setting on my pc

Was here. Liked the little commentaries.

Was here. Enjoyed.

Can't be. It looks like the place in the pictures is actually fun.

Hey everyone.

I wonder what the Federated States of Micronesia looks like?

It's an associated state with the U.S.

For an island nation, they don't seem to like to take pictures of the beach.

They live in the capital city.

Gud tear

We've run out of views on FSM, so let's take a short trip to Kiribati.

Looks like here we're on a dry lagoon bed.

Landward beach picture.

The houses look okay, but they're all the same.

As an aside, I don't know if these place names are correct, but they are weird.

Let's switch it up from warm islands to cold islands.

The map calls it the French Southern and Antarctic Lands, but I'm just going to say Kerguelen.

It's not near Florida, and it isn't the southern part of a country in the Caucasus.

It's South Georgia Island.

There were a shit ton of people in this panorama for such a desolate place!

Someone probably got hypothermia just to bring you this image.

Got curious about some French island east of Madagascar called Reunion.

Apparently it rains a shit ton here. The island holds lots of rainfall world records. Also, the STRONGEST TRADITIONAL HEALER IN AFRICA is located very close to where this picture was taken. How fun!

Unlike most places in the thread, Reunion has great StreetView coverage.

There is absolutely nothing creepy about this.

A rocky coast. Also pictured, on the map: a place called Le Tampon.

Looks like we're just outside of town.

It looks nice.

They even set up a battery in case Saint-Benis is attacked directly. Presumably, the people standing around will shortly be trained in the use of the cannons.

Let's leave islands behind for a moment and head to continental South America. From the looks of things, most of Suriname is one giant nature reserve.

Not pictured: a nature reserve

DEFINITELY NO WEED HERE.

Crysis 1 was fun.

Welcome to the big city.

I enjoyed this, OP
