Ninjitsu.

Because. Ninja.

Just learn to box instead.

Martial arts are for pussies.
Check it out - boxers always kick the shit out of MAs.

You might as well study yoga.

Krav Manga or MMA. I did goshin jitsu for 6 years as a kid and i realise now later that it was a waste of time for the - most - part.

krav maga

I'm skinny as of now and don't want every one of my bones broken. Say I worked out and gained mass would I be shitted on every day still? If you had to choose one, MMA or Krav Maga, which would it be.

I used to do taekwondo and strongly recomend it if you can find a place that teaches the traditional way not the sporty karate bullshit. I liked it because it requires a lot of fittness, has a vast amount of techniques that can be used differently for different functions (blocks can become strikes n shit) and most importantly because of the level of lethality, once you grade to black belt they will teach you very strong techniques that you are not allowed to practice in sparring because you'll cause perminant damage. I found this very useful as i grew up in a rough town where fighting was custom in disagreements and i'm joining the army so yeah
Thats what and why.

Jkd

Depends what you think your up against. If your enemy is 3-10 niggers trying to pwn you in the street then i'd go for MMA probably. If its mostly one-on-one scenarios then krav manga.

Krav Maga is probably the best as for techniqes but MMA will build your mass better i'd guess.

Muay thai, all the effective techniques/strikes thrown into 1 package. Other than that, taekwondo american kickboxing or standard boxing is my recommendation

Learn to box, then get into MMA.

I've done karate for nearly 10 years now, and I've fought a lot of different guys from different styles. It honestly doesn't matter what martial art you do, all that matters is how much work you put into it.

Also if you're gonna choose, do Wing Chun, it's the martial art that flows the best

MMA doesnt work in the real world. There is a referee and rules in a cage but two average guys could easily mug an mma fighter as they do not do weapons training and will kick kicked to shit if they fall over (which they do a lot)
Krav magar would be though

What do you want? More fitness or fighting skill?
A sport or a how to not get mugged lisence?

Sure, trust a jew to teach me how to fight

this. I've been in martial arts since age 6 and Wing Chun is one that I'm just getting into at the age of 28. Sadly I didn't realize how amazing it was until now. But as long as you push yourself it really doesn't matter what martial arts you choose.

Doesnt change the fact that MMA doesnt work in the real world

Obviously has no clue of real martial arts...

BJJ

It's the only one proven to work.

>TKD blackbelt of 6 years
>really good
>state champ and shit
>went to BJJ gym
>thought I was tough
>guys training for 6 months beat my ass
>sign up same day
>train for a long time
>BJJ is best

jiu jitsu or muay thai - coz boxing aint a martial art

Also proof, timestamp is old and I'm not getting up to make a new one

In the real world you don't fight a thug with a knife, you give him your stuff.

True, it's shit

Fitness and fighting, and how to not get mugged license.

I recommend Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to you, OP.

It chanded my life, made me more confident, more aware of my body, made me really stronger and healthier.

BJJ destroys your ego and it's a great douchebag filter, so most people you'll meet are nice and helpfull.

Also after few years of figting you won't be dumber and dumber because no one hits you on the head.

Pros:
- low damage/injury risk
- you're putting in literally every musce into it
- cool and helpfull people attending
- you're overall conditioning will go up like crazy
- will do wonders for your mindset

Cons:
- useless against 3 or more opponents
- you will need to buy GI
- every inch of body will hurt in first 3 months
- if you're big ego guy you will be put in your place very often

Dude i got two black belts in taekwondo and was always in fights at school, i was regarded as one of the toughest black belts and was often told to instruct students although i wasnt the highest grade there, i know what i'm talking about. Let me guess you did sumo wrestling in primary school?

>- if you're big ego guy you will be put in your place very often

I'm the TKD/BJJ fag and this is very true and very hilarious

No you fight the cunt unless your a bitch who wants to lose their wallet

What a bullshit, don't listen to 12 years old McGregor fanboys.

Krav Maga is MADE for facing few opponents.
Check some random Krav Maga videos, it's about hit where it hurts and run/go for the other one.

MMA is good too but Krav Maga is the best self defense system, but in Krav Maga you destroy people, so run or be sued later.

That's an opinion from BJJ guy.

Well at least graduate high school first.

i'm no expert on the subject, but from what i've seen wing chun is useful to people that already know how to fight. trying to use only wing chun will more than likely get you wrecked by anyone with any other fighting style.

sauce: a few fights i've seen where some wing chun badass gets his shit pushed in without much effort. i'm sure if you dig around on YT you'll find them

Do something asian, i always suggest taekwondo because that's my field but aikido can be very useful if ou fight a good training centre i always advise against karate because its for kids and kungfu is just chinese boxing but yeah find a good place in your area (and always go to the toilet before training)

That's the same problem, inexperienced people or people who don't give it their all tarnish the reputation of the martial art as a whole. It's fucking logic, if you can't fight, don't fight.

K lol

Yeah and I love it since I am jolly, nice guy.

I was doing Muay Thai for 2 years, gym was full of pricks who are there with their faces saying "I'm gonna kill you all faggots,, - even if they can't do anything.

On BJJ I went helpfull and nice people, who with a blink of an eye can snap into beasts with all their BJJ knowledge.

Also, I lost 14kgs in 1 year just by training BJJ.

This if you have the time otherwise , just make sure you don't choose karate or any meme-tier "martial arts".

He's right you know

Op here, these are really helpful answers and I appreciate it. Right now leaning to Krav Maga, or BJJ. But I always thought the fluid movements of Asian sports were something to be awed at. I will do one of those after I learn BJJ or Krav. Anyone by chance in the Detroit area?

>being this retarded

Nah bro sorry, I would be happy to introduce you to BJJ but I'm from Poland, so pretty far.

Proper karate isn't bad, it's just these retards who think they know karate but learned themselves at a fucking McDojo are essentially tricking people out of their money.

Do whatever seems most fun to you m8. Treat it like a sport.

Watch Jacare roll for flow and then talk about fluid movements.

BJJ is love...

BJJ is life...

OSS

Not trying to be a faggot, but if you don't have the spirit to fight then it makes no difference what style you learn. Most people you see in those "XYZ MASTER KTFO" videos are going into a fight thinking they are the best fighter around and the results are predictable. If you're unprepared for a curveball you'll get struck out. Most martial artists that I know move from one art to another over the years and this helps them to become well rounded fighters. I just feel like Wing Chun would be a good base to start from as opposed to other forms.

BJJ doesnt work when you are in a self defence situation, never has. Its too slow, predictable to the trained eye (people trained in literally anything) rules of the sport say you cant punch or kick the head which is what works in the real world. From my experience as soon as someone feels the sting of a cut and sees there own blood they usually give up the attack as the feel they have lost control. Control of course is always no more than an illusion and real martial arts suchas krav maga, aikido and taekwondo teach you this.

google
boxer vs martial arts

only retard is some who thinks MA is good for anything other than exercise.

lol

Krav
Bjj
Muy Thai

Amen to that, I never practiced karate but you're right man.

I'm training BJJ myself, I once rolled with karate guy, he was fierce even on the ground, also he knew a few chokes with GI.

Also, them kicks right in the jaw.

I imagine if 2-3 nignogs will jump you on the street and you greet the nearest one with kick in the jaw and put him to sleep, all the others will run, or pull out a knife - then you should run.

Weapons are shit, I would always get the fuck away from a fight when someone got a gun/knife. Only if I am in the corner or they are about to hurt my friend I would jump in, other way it's always smarter to just run.

I'd consider muay thai, boxing, judo, or san da if I really wanted to know how to fight.

I'd probably do xingyiquan or kendo for something I found interesting.

Kyokushin is both good for fighting and interesting, though, so if I get the opportunity I should probably do that.

>tells me i'm bullshit and not to listen
>gives essentially same advice
Well done.

Have you seen the professional boxer James Toney getting his ass choked out by the professional MMA fighter Randy Couture? Go watch it.

>I watched karate kid and this shit is awesome
karate is probably one of the worst martial arts for self defense. Not saying it's terrible, I'm just saying there are many better options.

OSS! my friend

Also OP, BJJ have nice throws. Try BJJ-throwing a nigger on the concrete like on pic, fight is over before it started.

That 18th century english attitude. Didn't work too well.

Just dont do judo or jew jitsu
It doesnt work and if you ask anyone trained in and other martial art they can tell you exactly why.

Wing chun because of my size and because i'm a pussy who doesn't like to hurt people.

Kung Fu

Seems fun to learn and efficient

Kansas Kwan Ki Do
Striking, grappling, handguns, carpet knives, and walking canes.
It is hard to find anyone that knows it though. A guy created it in the 80's after spending his life learning different martial arts and working as a police officer and body guard.

you literally have no idea what you're talking about. Kyokushin is a style of karate, and it's one of the most effective striking martial arts in the world. In Japanese MMA, a lot of people have kyokushin as their main striking style instead of muay thai.

Not quite, everyone in that movie was pretty bad at karate. I'll admit that Kung Fu is better, but otherwise all martial arts are really the same. Technique doesn't actually matter, all you need is reflexes, the knowledge of the best places to hit and some practice

wing chun cuz i rekt yo all

There ya go, usually that how BOXER (White guy) vs BJJ (braz-nig) goes:

youtu.be/g2UDJ1GCE44?t=2m46s

>this
Judo and ju jitsu dont count

and to affirm what the BJJ guys are saying, their art is solid. Ground game like to other, and if you can take a street fight to the ground and maintain control you're (usually) golden.

Krav is an Israeli martial arts with the goal of killing an enemy combatant, or at least maiming them to the point where they can't do anything else to harm you. Brutal stuff.

I've got both BJJ and Krav (albiet only a year of "crash courses" from an instructor friend of mine) and I can only say that they add to my playbook in a very beneficial way. More styles = a greater ability to respond to a variety of situations

>2016
>Choosing martial arts
> Not choosing gun kata

"kung fu" is just a catch all term for any Chinese martial art. Some styles, like san da, are indeed efficient. Some, like choy lee fut, are effective if trained in properly, but are sub par compared to martial arts with more active training. Some, like performance wushu, are actually completely useless. Some, like tai chi, may have been used for self defense at some point in history, but are now just done for recreational exercise.

IPSC

Yep definitely, I dont even know how they're considered martial arts

>and i'm joining the army
good luck buddy, you're about to realize what taekwondo is used for

>DS. Friendly fucking your day up with a leg lock

>wushu
>useless
wHAT?

>wut is no style

You're both literally retarded. Grapplers destroy strikers. Boxers aren't trained to stop take downs, and once they're on the ground, they're helpless against anyone who knows judo, BJJ, or Greco-Roman wrestling. Boxing is one of the best striking martial arts, but you're literally retarded if you think it just destroys everything.
Also, while boxers are infinitely better punchers than muay thai fighters, muay thai fighters have the obvious upper hand because they use elbows, knees, and kicks as well

Isn't the story behind tai chi that it was invented so the warlords wouldn't notice that they were doing martial arts training? I'm also pretty sure that tai chi is meant to be done as well as kung fu, not by itself

ITF Taekwondo. Not WTF Taekwondo.

You will learn how to fight. Heaps of sparring.

That's if you want to go the traditional martial arts route. Other than that I would suggest BJJ and do both gi and no gi.

If you want to learn to simply fight and defend yourself, go with boxing/muay thai.

Dude I think you missed the part when I said that grappler (bjj) will always win with striker (boxer), and uploaded a movie where boxer got owned by bjj guy to back up what I said.

ah... so I did... never mind bud

This.

Equilibrium was a shit movie, but the gun katas are awesome.

You know how many defences there are against leg locks in taekwondo? We laughed everytime a white belt would pull some stupid shit like that

karate
軍鶏, Shamo

And yet you still haven't enlisted. Make sure to your Drill Sgt hi for me, we were probably battle buddies in the sandbox. And make sure to tell them ALL about your training, they love to hear those kind of stories ;)

I've never heard that but it seems suspect. You could be right though, who knows. Some styles of tai chi are more forceful and violent than others - Chen style Tai Chi has lots of obvious strikes, while Yang style Tai Chi is the slow moving one most people are used to seeing. When you actually see the applications of tai chi you can see it is basically a grappling style, and if you do sticking hands with a good tai chi practitioner it's disorienting how much they can dominate. Nowadays tai chi is certainly used to compliment other martial arts, but historically it seems to have been a stand alone martial art. It's interesting to compare it to other "internal" Chinese martial arts, like Baguazhang, which has the same slow, meditative practice, but strongly resembles both judo and aikido.

Still, at this point the exercise component is so strongly emphasized, that I don't think any modern day tai chi practitioners would even consider trying to use it against, say, an MMA fighter.

I have an enlistment date set, thanks buddy
You know you dont much martial art in the army for one simple reason... Guns.

Equilibrium is the best movie.

lol as soon as you enter the army you're going to learn what you just said is complete bullshit.

You do know that a number of martial arts were literally developed for military use, right? Krav Maga was developed by the Israeli military. ITF Tae Kwon Do was used by the South Korean military until its founder had a falling out with the South Korean government. American troops get training in MMA or BJJ. I'd be really surprised if Thai soldiers didn't train in muay thai.

There's a reason they're called MARTIAL arts

krav maga
i dunno why, but seems interesting and powerfull haha

Thats completely obvious dude. Thats the first thing you're taught in combatives. "First person to win in unarmed combat in a firefight is the one whos buddy shows up first". The point is that you'll get wrecked by anyone worth their salt when it comes to combatives if all you've got is TKD, but go have fun. It'll be a good lesson for you.

I'm gonna be cavalry, i dont need to know how to fist fight because i will be shooting people not jelly wrestling them but like i said i have two black belts in taekwondo and trained directly under a master for over a year so i'm good. What are you doing with your life sorry?

see
you're both right. martial arts and military go hand in hand, but they are rarely used in a firefight.

All you've got? Haha dude just no XD

"Krav Maga is the best huuur duuuur"

see : youtube.com/watch?v=j55d8uqvKDQ

ITT: Faggot guidos who walk around in Tapout shirts all day and think MMA is more than gay porn with a referee.

Aikido is the only correct answer here.

>but muh arm bar
>muh choke holds

There's a reason MMA fights have so many rules during the fights.

>99% men rolling around on the ground hugging each other
>1% punching with some occasional blood

No it's not. If you really want to learn how to fight, choose a sport with real sparring, loke boxing or MMA. You never really practice with Krav Maga, every move is scripted.

Krav Maga, JKD, Combat Sambo, SCARS, KAPAP, Budo Taijutsu, Defendu, Systema, anything based in real world self defense with modern weapons.

>seriously using "XD"
>2016
just go tell your DS about your shitty martial arts experience already and learn your place. ask them to record it for me and send it to 173rd airborne 5th battalion C company 3rd platoon. thanks.

>gay porn with a referee
spit out my coffee

It truely depends on who is the better fighter is, just because a man has been a banker for 20 years doesnt mean he's the best banker, most of the time just means his old.

Aikido ? kek.
Aikido is not a real "Martial" Art.

Here is the martial arts forum. Everyone who posts there trains MMA. I have been for 14 years. Come join us.
