It's a manga that's been running for 20+ years now, and it's pretty incredible. One of the things that's most interesting about it, is that the author has basically reinvented himself in his style several times throughout the series, while still keeping it true to its roots. During the first 10 volumes (referred to collectively as the "Golden Age" arc), it's basically gritty 80s style manga of purely dark medieval warfare, becoming borderlined historical fiction. but in volumes 11-12+ literally hell opens up and pours itself onto earth evil dead style but in a completely serious manner. Over the next ~5 volumes you have every bit of bad in his world corrupted and risen to full blown demonic rape-fests; corrupt priests burning everyone at the stake, packs of roving goblins kidnapping women, raping and impregnating them to make more monsters, an evil god-emporer who tries to take over the world etc. It then turns into a traditional swords/sorcery fantasy where Guts assembles a team of rag-tag heroes to destroy the five God Hands of hell, one of whom was his best friend and rival during the Golden Age.

Happy July 4th!

Hey 911, what's going on?

wow, late

Very late indeed, was at fireworks.

...

Ah, nice.

...

Not the biggest fan of fireworks, once a year is enough.
This year's were decent.

End of Volume 18 Chapter 5

good to hear
So what are you up to

Watched some more airing stuff, Amaama to Inazuma had a pretty good first episode so I'd recommend picking it up. Not sure what Bananya was meant to be so I'm feeling confused about it, got Handa-kun in a few days which will be good as well, enjoy the manga a lot. Not much else though, doing some quests to get qp up, you?

Was supposed to work on subtitling a show today, but was unexpectedly busy the entire time so working on it now.
Kinda wasted the whole day, but can't be helped.
You?

Description for Amaama to Inazuma looks like it could be good. Is it heartfelt and iyashikei, or more comedy?

Bananya was an interesting first ep, not sure what I'm gonna do with that one yet, typesetting it for now.
What quests you up to?

Not a lot, the usual shit.

...

No news is good news.

...

...

Definitely more heartfelt, not very comedic.

>What quests you up to?
Just any I have the requirements for. Did Elemental Workshop I & II earlier, gonna finish off these two F2P quests I haven't got around to since seeing them just sitting there is annoying,

...

Good, good, I'll pick it up then. Something to warm the heart is needed.

Did you get a mind shield? Need that for wyverns.

...

...

Yep.

...

Not yet, got the mind helm you get when you finish it and then left. Can go back whenever to get it so it's no problem.

I see.
May as well, it's good money. Only problem is it's usually crowded, I only go on slayer tasks where there's a task-only place for them.

Just made it to chapter 251. Here's the last page I read.

End of Volume 18 Chapter 6 and end of dump for tonight.

Ah right, when Farnese started to learn magic.
Good times

I think the new 2016 anime is alright the CGI is weird at time and it's weird that casca is white. It also is different from the manga. But I think it will still be entertaining

So I'm a big demolition d fan, and he wholeheartedly recommends berserk, so I'm interested in getting into but where am I supposed to start? Also what's the deal with getting off the boat?

It's by no means that great, but I actually enjoyed it more than I expected to.

I'd start with the manga, then the 1997 anime series, then the current one.
Movies are optional, they don't really bring anything new to the table.
They finally got off the boat which they got on ~8 years ago. Mainly due to slow releases for chapters, felt like it was the longest boat trip known to man.

Sweet, thanks! Should I order hard copies or just find it online?

I'd say read it online, easier and cheaper.
Maybe buy them for collection purposes later on after you're read through it all.
